Default vellum: how to stick and keep from curling

Everytime I use a piece of vellum it curls. If I attach it with eyelets or brads - it curls. If I use glue dots - it curls. I have tried the sticky tape and glue stick but it shows through and ruins the card. Please help I,m getting ready to toss all my vellum!

Hi Tina,

I'm with ya! Have you tried vellum tape? SU doesn't sell it but it's the only thing I've got that remotely works well. I find it still shows over certain colors of card stock though no matter what I do. Hopefully somebody has some ideas!

Are you using the SU regular vellum? I never use that except for on inviations because it's so lightweight. I've gone to using the vellum cardstock instead, and love the results that I get.

And by the way, I use eyelets, glue dots, mono and vellum adhesive by 3M without an problem. And I ONLY heat emboss on the vellum stock.

I agree that using vellum card stock will solve most of your frustrations. I love working with it.

Creative memories has clear photosplits (little double sided adhesive squares), and they work great for me, but I only have the vellum card stock and aluminum vellum squares that I've used them on.

I can refer you to a CM consultant if you like.

Thre is a vellum adhesive spray out there. I don't know who makes it  but I saw someone using it at a scrap night last year and she swore by it for attaching vellum. It was stinky, though :?

I also use the Creative Memories clear photo splits, and I have used them with all sorts of vellum. One of my friends used them to attach acetate to a scrapbook page the other night, and once it was attached to the page you couldn't see the splits.

I am using SU vellum. I ordered some of the vellum cardstock and that should be here today. Thanks for all the insite, you guys a fantastic! If anyone knows about the spray adhesive let me know. I tried some regular spray adhesive from an office suppy and it ate thru the vellum. I saved the piece for that truely unique card someday.

Any spray adhesive would work, as long as you don't spray too close to the paper. Unfortunately they all stink. They've come up with odorless mineral spirits, why not odorless (or at least low-odor) spray adhesive?

I have had good luck running the vellum through the Xyron, for an adhesive. Linda

I also want to vote for the Xyron! It's perfect for vellum--no curling and nothing showing through, except the background you WANT to see.

And if you need some more justification for getting a Xyron, it's also great for attaching wire works embellishments, ribbons, little buttons, you name it.
