If you are looking for somewhere to send your extra paper, ribbons, and other embellishments that you are wanting to purge, here's a great cause.
I am in charge of the centerpieces for an annual luncheon put on each year (in June) by Attorneys Serving the Community in Dallas. Each year, we go through a rigorous screening and application process to choose a local charity to receive all proceeds of the luncheon (around 1000 in attendance) and surrounding events. I have decided to do altered paint cans as the primary part of the centerpiece. Each one will be unique, and will be made by the actual people who benefit from the programs at this year's beneficiary, The Wilkinson Center. One of their programs is after school art classes for some of the poorest kids in Dallas, and art classes for talented but underprivileged seniors. These artists will be using donated supplies (including donated paint cans from Sherwin Williams) to make the centerpieces, which are sold at the luncheon to generate additional income for the Wilkinson Center. For more information on The Wilkinson Center (and the luncheon), check out their website:

I have received some fabric scraps and paper from our small membership, but I know many of you can help. Please feel free to send me any paper, fabric, ribbons, fibers, and other embellishments for this project. My address is 300 Crescent Court, Suite 1500, Dallas, TX 75228. They will be making the paint cans throughout April and beginning of May, but even if they don't use the supplies for this project, they will be used by their art programs eventually.
If you like, please include your name and address so that we can thank you for your donation.
