I just saw that, Sarah. Sorry. What can they obtain that could be detrimental if you filled out this survey though? From what I could tell it was just an addy and some basic survey questions.
I am on hold with DS now being transfered to the employee listed in the memo... and I am also being told by the DS emplyee she has an "urgent memo" in her hand about the email scam...

Well, I just tried to call SU! and they just have a message about the cruise and then it hangs up on me. :(
I have to agree with Val -- there really wasn't any info given that could be dangerous in the wrong hands. Nothing they couldn't get from a phonebook, other than the email address.
Where is the original thread? I searched on Cambria and it did not come up.
So this is a little crazy; but Demo Support can not confirm if the email is or is not a legitamate website... make your own decision I guess! They are unable to contact the person listed in the email and they do confirm this is a new employee to to a new department... but they will not say if the email is legit or not.
Here's hoping it is; and if it is; I stand corrected!

Sorry if this has all been a bit dramatic... but once I was told in my initial call to SU! it was a scam I jumped to tell my SCS sisters... I hope it's all legit! Who knows!/
Okay, I have been talking to Cami and know that she has been in contact with the person who emailed her. They say they are a research company hired by Stampin' Up!
They have given her a SU number to call, but as it is after business hours, there is no way to reach anyone.
Thank you Sarah for trying to varify this. SCS admin will be in contact with Stampin' Up! on Monday to varify if this is a valid opportunity. Until then we will lock this thread.
Have a great night!
I just called Stampin' Up! and it was confirmed that this research panel is legitimate. They are looking for non demonstrators only!
DS was only informed of it this morning.
UGH!!!! I read only the first few posts, filled out the survey, and then saw the hoax posts. I about had a heart attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see it's legit. Again, We gave them nothing that they couldn't get from google anyway. Here's hoping I get picked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with SU's head quarters. It is legitimate. They are trying to find out what stampers who are not demonstrators are looking for in product, style, etc. Sounds very fun and interesting! Good luck!

Oh, Sorry Beate, I guess I should have read down further. Once I got to the scam part, I had to go check it out cause I know a few people who applied.
Hugs,
Gina K.

I want to publicly apologize to Cami and to all of you for my post... and I would like to explain WHY I initially posted what I did.
The initial email I received (same as Cami) was sent from an outside company, not SU! the content of the email seemed suspicious to me and I contacted SU! to confirm the legitimacy of the email. I asked for the person listed as the contact name for SU! in the email and was told by DS she was not an employee of SU! It turns out she is very new with SU! After giving DS the URL in the email they placed me on hold and spoke to a person in compliance. They returned and told me this was a scam, their words not mine, they stated they "would never use an outside marketing firm, because they have an internal marketing department", they asked me to forward the email to them for further investigation.
It was based on THAT information I came to SCS intending to post a warning for all; assuming others had received the email. When I saw Camis email I just posted to this thread as well; and you know the rest.
I hope it is understood I was never intending to hurt Cami, or anyone here; but to help protect my friends here from potential harm. I understand now that I hurt Cami greatly and I of course want to apologize for that.
I also want it known that I have since spoken to SU! and the contact person listed in the email and made sure they understood how much drama has ensued over this marketing campaign; some of which I will agree is my own doing; however good my intentions were.
Sarah- I think most people understand you were trying to be proactive in protecting everyone here. Thanks to all who did verify with SU regarding this matter, too bad it's for non demos. :( I tried!

Sarah,
Don't sweat it. I did the same exact thing that you did when your heard about it. I called SU. The only difference is the two answers we got. LOL!
Anyone and everyone who read your post knows that you weren't trying to hurt anyone and it didn't come off that way. You were trying to do quite the opposite and protect people based of the info you had at the time. It's no big deal, really. And, thank you for caring enough about us to post what you were told too. Maybe the conversation in this thread got the info in the right hands at SU so that others who call will get the correct answer.
So be happy!
You rock!

If someone from SU is reading this, PLEASE REMEMBER HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO KEEP THE DEMOS & DS IN THE LOOP OF WHAT IS GOING ON AT SU.
Thanks to everyone for the heads up on this...this is just another example for me of SU's right hand not knowing what its left hand is doing and the demos/DS personnel being caught in the middle. Good grief, give your DS personnel a break...
I have no idea if SU contacted Volt to do this marketing survey or not, but I wanted to chime in that Volt marketing is a legitamate company. I served on a making memories panel for about 3 months and recieved lots of free products that I was asked for my opinions on- or recieved surveys about general scrapbooking and compensated in free product.
The time you can serve on the panels is very limited, as they are constantly wanting new voices. But definetly a legitimate company.

Sarah, no worries. You were going on the info you had at the time and trying to protect us...I thank you for that.
BUT, I'm also glad it turned out to be legit!! LOL ;)
It is really a pity that SU didn't send a memo to all it's inside employees, because this poor person got discredited over at 2peas due to this post here.
If nothing else happens, at least SU will know how fast & furious news like this can spread! This is something interesting for Research & Development and Marketing to know.

I would like to thank everyone for sharing all the information they had at each moment in time. We are all grown-ups here and if we jumped to sign up--it was our own decision at that time. If we got a little scared, when we "thought" it might have not been the best decision--we are responsible for ourselves.
How nice that this time it all turned out good!!! We'll all have to share if we get picked.
Like the other ladies I read the beginning of this thread and raced to fill out my entry. Then I read the rest of the thread. Now that I have had my aerobic exercise of the day I want to say that there should be NO guilty feelings here. Every poster was trying to look out for her fellow SCS'ers. I do want to thank everyone for persuing the truth so that if we get contacted (please pick me!!!) we know it's safe to accept. That's the great thing about the SCS community -- everyone here genuinely wants to help each other out with ideas, praise, information and fun. I guess that's why with all of the other forums out there I keep hanging out here!
Sarah a big ty for your concern and keeping on top of this for us..it cud have been a hoax..and you were only thinking of your friends here..so please don worry bout it..better safe than sorry.
loves ya
