I've searching to find the rubber washers to make the "faux" tags that Juliehrr shows in her gallery. Has anyone else found them? Anyone have any extra's? Thanks!
I love those tags. I think the washers might be in with like the plumbing stuff...maybe. I was gonna take a look at our lil hardware store and see what I can find.
This is the packaging from some black rubber washers I purchased today at Home Depot. They were in the plumbing aisle. They are by Watts and are called "Slip Joint Washer - 1 1/4". The item # is: 1067WRBA.
I've been using the colored circles that Target Pharmacy puts on their prescription bottles now. They aren't rubber, but they seem to work pretty good.
I'm going to Home Depot as soon as I can! I tried at the local ACE and didn't find the "right" size so I bought a sheet of plain rubber to cut your own gaskets and stuck it in my Sizzix. It was just a snitch too thick because I didn't get clean cuts and of course, then they were out of the thinner material! arghhh... hope I didn't ruin my Sizzix as well.
I couldn't find the orange rubber like Julie used either but found the black ones at Home depot. I think I was in the plumbing dept. Anyway I have tried and tried to stamp with the black ones but I can't get the image to print all the way around. I have even tried sanding the rubber. I just dont think the black rubber is the same. It seems more plasitic and not as soft although it is rubber. I would love to find the orange rubber like julie used.
I read someone said the black rubber didn't work as well as the orange. Can anyone else here tell us if you had success with the black ones at all? Worth getting the black ones since I see many black ones and very few orange rubber rings.

I had a customer who didn't want the wood blocks because she didn't want the stamps mounted. There are companies that you can buy the woodblocks from and there was a thread about that a little while ago. Do a search and you should find some. Good luck.

The black "rubber" is probably not a good way to go.
Many years ago, I worked on wiring assemblies and we used "bushings" (kind of a tube thing) at the ends of the assemblies, that was made of the exact same stuff. Just the moisture from my hands manipulating them made grey marks on my hands.
I hate to think what these would do to a stamp pad!
My DH suggested the hardware area - I'm going to look today, wish me luck!

I couldn't find a washer in the size I wanted at our small hardware store, so I bought a white rubbe drain plug - no wood block needed since it is something that you can grab onto and stamp with as is. My question, though, is what you use to cut the "tag" out. I haven't tried cutting one out yet, but I never seem to get a good clean cut with and exacto.

Best bet would be a circle punch or a circle cutter. Maybe a Sizzix machine if you could line it up well.
Where do you find wood blocks? We are sooo not a handy household that we would have scraps of wood around...
You can find them for sale on eBay. You could look here in the 'Buy/Sell/Trade' forum. If I ever get organized, I might find some extra ones around here. I never use the wood blocks, because I prefer acrylic. I used to burn the wood blocks in the fireplace until my demo yelled at me... golly gee whiz... I didn't know that anyone wanted them.
What a neat idea! I have a couple circle stamps similar to this and never thought to make faux tags. Another idea for wood blocks is to take them from your kids toy box. My boys have grown out of playing with their blocks, this might be a new use for them.

The washers are a great idea! I will definitely be going to Home Depot.
For mounting them on wood, my husband buys the wood at Home Depot, cuts and sands it for me according to size needed, and then I seal the wood before mounting. It's not expensive at all.

Wow, as soon as I saw the images kiwistamper included, it made me think of getting some gaskets, putting some tack&tack repositionable glue on them and mounting them on a CD case to make my own mod background stamp. thank you for sharing this great idea!
