I would not want to waste them by sharpening. When you touch your wet brush to them just make sure you swipe up the side so the tip stays pointed. If you color then use the side so they stay pointed.
I have heard of people sharpening them with a makeup sharpener (they're a little larger than the standard size). It was recommended that you save the shavings LOL in one of those little plastic well palettes. Then you can use them to color, too!
The sharpener in the catty says it has holes for both the crayons and the pencils. pg. 225
If you sharpen them, I would do it one color at a time and get the little paint pots with the snap lids to save the shavings in. You can still use them with your aquapainter or paint brush

Acetate is a clear transparency. You can buy them for your printer at Office Depot or stores like that. I have an ink jet and have some for laser printers. I use them for things like this since I can't use them in my printer.
With the price increase, you better save every shaving that comes off those babies. I'm planning to make my crayons last forever, I can't afford a new set!

IF you decide, after all this, to sharpen them, look at the Shimmering Watercolor Technique. You can make very good use of your shavings. I would try to link it here but I'm not very good at that kind of thing and know I can no longer edit.

Why sharpen them? I touch my aquabrush or watercolor brush, whichever I'm using, directly to the crayon for intense color. If I want to tone it down a bit, I make a very small pool of water on a piece of plastic and swirl my loaded brush in it. These babies are way too expensive to waste!

I have been thinking about sharpening my wc too, because some of my designs have tiny spaces. Thought I might get a couple of the two week pill keepers, that have lids, to put the shavings in. That would give me 28 little shavings holders! Someone told me that some drug stores give those away free--I like free

I use the bottom of the crayon to dip my watercolor brush onto...I've never used the tip...once it starts getting to where I can't reach any color...I'll just tear the paper down at the bottom and keep doing it that way...
Using CD's to color on and then paint using a brush or a water blender is a great way so that the points don't get flattened out. I learned this from another SU stamper (thanks Doreen) and just keep two of these CD's in with my crayons. kings-castle
