Hi friends, I'm wondering about the new crayons......give me your advice. I have 60.00 in free product and I'm wondering if I should blow it all on them or stamps.....
Thanks!

I don't have SU's watercolor crayons but I really enjoy my two sets that I have. I think it depends on a number of things. I absolutely love the way that watercolors look so I use them because I like the look. Are you patient enough to kind of learn your way around watercolors? They are super easy but you might get frustrated with some things that you try the way the color moves can take some getting used to. Are there stamp sets that you are dying to have? You don't want to resent the crayons just because you thought you would love them and would have rather had another set or two of stamps. I was just reading up on the Gamsol technique the other day and an article brought up a good point. Your number of markers, pens, colored pencils, watercolor crayons, etc.... should far outnumber your number of stamps. That way you can get the most out of your stamps. Of course this can vary according to how you stamp but I thought it was a really good point. Anyway I think they would probably be good but you know what's best for you. Here's a link to some techniques to tempt you ;) http://www.rubberroadadventures.com/...ephanieL.htm#8 and in this link there is an unusual one http://www.vampstampnews.com/quicktip.pdf

I bought a small set at a local art store just to try them out. I LOVE them and have asked for the SU! set for my birthday.
I love having a variety of coloring options. It does help you get the most out of your stamps. (But I have an awful lot of stamp sets, too!)

Not sure if this is true or not as I haven't seen anyone here post about it but my DD went to a party over the week-end and the demonstrator said that they only work on the watercolor paper which is a bit costly. If this is true then I'd use this to help me decide if I truely wanted them or not. Does anyone know.
That's boloney! You CAN use the watercolor wonder crayons on any paper. US white & US vanilla are okay - but are not good for "working" your color much. The paper tends to pill. The second best would be to use Confetti White or Confetti Cream - it's thicker & you can "play" a bit more without your paper looking like you beat it up. Without question - the watercolor paper is the best! I LOVE it - but I couldn't be convinced to uy it until I tried itn at my uplines house & LOVED it!!!! I could shade beautifully - it doesn't get runny & the colors can be blended for a hour and still notlose any of the paper structure. If you are a fan of watercoloring, you'll love it. But no - you don't HAVE to have it my any means.
Hey every one thanks for the imput. I went ahead and ordered them. I do have tons of stamps (never enough!) and I think they will be worth it. My demonstrator has never used them but shes got them on her list. I cant wait to get them!
I love this site! I love talking to you all and having so many talented friends share there experiences
Your all Awesome!
Thanks again!

I got them with my first new catty order.. LOVE THEM.... so easy and I love how they color... seems faster and easier than watercolor pencils.... I just used my aquapainter and made a pallet on paper... I want to try coloring on the stamp(s) directly and some other cool techniques...

Yeah, what she said!
BTW, I also adore watercoloring on SU!'s Shimmery White c/s. Beautiful results! I love that stuff as much as w/c paper!

Rachel, I believe Pat posted those freebies herself... I remember seeing them before I signed up for the TJ newsletter, so I'm pretty sure it's OK.
Okay, if you say so! I remember someone posting stuff people have to pay to see a while back so I didn't want the SCS administrators or any of the members getting in trouble!

This is definitely the case. Earlier today, I looked at patstamps.com - the home page of her website - and the free tutorials were posted there. But Rachel has a good point with regard to other things...we don't want Ma and Pa SCS to get in trouble!!
Um, I do believe that people pay a subscription fee to get those tutorials, so I'm not sure you should be posting them elsewhere on the net.
These were freebies available to anyone. I wouldn't dream of posting something here that I had obtained at a cost without the express permission of the author.

I recently purchased the Watercolor Wonder set and I love it. It matches all the new paper and I really enjoy using them much more than the watercolor pencils.
