Forget them. I've been to a couple lately with none and you don't miss them. Our last daughter put Kettlecorn-caramel,cheese and popcorn into a small clear beg from Michaels and tied it with a bow to match. They weren't left on the table or thrown away!
I agree. Something to eat is always good. My granddaughter got some of those creamy mint-like chocolate disks that come in pastel colors and put them in little bags tied with coordinating ribbons on the tables. Everyone grabbed theirs!

My friend and I made "sour cream" containers filled with dinner mints and then stamped the married couples monogram on a scallop cirlce and attached that with a ribbon. Hope that helps.

i agree. my best friend is getting married in a couple weeks and his wedding planner said the same thing. don't waste your time. the trend now is to not do them.. they are forgotten or thrown away........

My oldest daughter's wedding is a week from Saturday & we made toile bags of Hersheys hugs & kisses with SU scalloped circle tags tied with ribbons in her colors. On the tags it said "Hugs & Kisses from the Mr. & Mrs.". I got the stamp from PTI in the Wedding Favor It set. I stamped their initials on the back side.
My daughter got married this past Saturday. She ordered cookies shaped like surfboards (both she and her husband are surfers). They were frosted in green, pink, orange, purple or blue all with a yellow stripe down the middle (some surfing thing). Each of them was in an individual clear bag with similarly colored ribbons (3 or 4 strands) tied at the top. She had name tags for each that we attached by using the ribbons. Besides the name of the guest on the tag, she had their table assignment. The wedding was at a beach club and the guests were seated at their tables during the ceremony. There were no cookies left on the tables-some were eaten there, evidenced by the empty bags, or must have been taken to eat later. My daughter didn't want to pay for something that would just be thrown away. The guests commented on how cute they were and how they represented the newly married couple's interest.
A friend told me that she didn't want to break into the bag and eat the 'favor'. I told her that I had taken a picture of one of the favors and it happened to be hers. I will send her the picture and she could eat the cookie but still have evidence that she got one.
Well the last two weddings I went to - one had heart shaped boxes of Choxie chocolates and the other had Sunflower shaped cookies in a cello bag.
The Sunflower cookie people (it was a theme in their wedding flowers) also gave the children attending a wedding cake shaped cookie for their dessert at the meal. The cookies themselves were in a basket as we left the reception AND were delicious.
However, I agree with an above poster that if you don't have time or you don't have the money don't worry about it.

For my BIL and SIL I made them with vellum (wheeled with a wheel that she liked). I filled them with kisses (purple dark ones and silver plain ones--colors of the wedding) they took four a piece.
I secured the bottoms and sides with red liner tape and crimped the bottom. I just punched a 1/4" hole and tided a single knot in the top (used a tag punch to punch out computer generated name and date) to hold on tag and hold it shut.
i just went to my cousin's wedding were she took flats of petunias in the colors of the wedding and put them in terracotta pots (mini ones) and stuck our table assignment cards in them. It was very cute. She glued some ribbon around the top of the pot.
You all have great ideas. My daughter in law to be wants to have truffles I am concerned because the reception is in the church fellowship hall and there is no airconditioning.
Everyone loved them and they didn't just sit on the tables; in fact they were quite the conversation piece. I think favors add a nice touch and I wouldn't skip them. I also didn't want make chocolate or candy favors because my wedding was on a hot summer day and some of my guests were diabetic. Best wishes on your wedding day!

I went to a wedding in England about 10 years ago now and it over ran and when we got to the hall for the meal the food had literally melted. I had two little ones in tow and had packed bottles of water in the diaper bag and was actually handing these around inside the church to bride & groom's family while the bride and groom signed the registry.
Does she have another favourite or is there a fridge/freezer on site where they could be kept until a 1/2 hour before etc.
I just made wedding favors for my Niece's wedding in June. I got the small round tin with clear top from speciality bottle (.44 each if you buy a case, 280 of them). then on the computer I made a sticker for the top that was a 2 inch circle that had a ring of dark blue and thier names and wedding date printed inside that blue ring. I printed them out on avery sticker paper and punched them out with my 2 inch circle punch. I filled each tin with about 35 small white after dinner mints, stuck the sticker on top and tied a black sheer ribbon around it and tied it in a knot. My niece wanted something elegant and I think it fit the bill. My sister said that after the wedding there were only a few empty tins left on the tables. I made 200 of them and they ran me about 215.00 for all the supplies. Tying the ribbon was the most time consuming part, otherwise they were a snap to make. I would post a picture but I am at work. Let me know if you want to see them and I can try and post one later.
I think favors add a nice touch.. when I got married 6 years ago I did vellum envelopes with daisy seeds in them. They had a poem attached that said "he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me so we tied the knot".. I still have people telling me they enjoy the flowers from our wedding in their gardens.
I was at Dollar Tree yesterday, they had unscented candles in round silver tins. You could stamp (or computer print) a monogram, or the bride/groom's name and date and punch out a lable to put on top of the tin, tie a quick ribbon around. No messy chocolate.

Oh my gosh...what an adorable idea! I would LOVE to see a picture of that if you have one.....and also the tins.
My friend got little white boxes at mike's (I think 100 in a pack) and stamped love on them with her wedding color. Then she filled them with Jelly Bellys in her wedding colors (they are cheaper per pound than m&ms). She then tied a ribbon on top. Simple and cute. One suggestion is to not put a favor at each spot. If you do something people can share, that is often what they do. There is usually so much food anyway.

Off Topic - I am planning on doing Jelly Bellys when my kids graduate - they have the school colours:mrgreen:
For my daughter's wedding, I am decorating nuggets and putting four in a small SU! cello bag with a three layer topper (barely banana, brilliant blue and whisper white with Thank you for sharing our wedding day on the front and their names and the date on the back (wording computer generated). I will stamp the rose from To Have and to Hold on the topper.
What perfect timing! My daughter and I just started planning her reception and this thread is full of wonderful ideas! Have to subscribe to save all of these.
Another quick idea would be to get small take out boxes, fill them with candy or something yummy, wrap some ribbon around it and finish it with a monogram or cute tag.
Happy Wedding!

My sister did a candy bar. She filled up about 11 different sized jars with different candies and had bags (2-5-7 boxes) for everyone to fill. The boxes took the most time so you could just use baggies from micheals or something. It was a big hit.
Honestly though, I'd skip it. 9 out of 10 people left their bags at the tables adn ended up getting tossed.
my wedding is in 15 days and i made nugget boxes. the instructions are in the gallery under anything but a card. i made 100 of them and i made them as more of a keepsake than anything. I think Favours are great and nice touch to whole thing. i think you should do something.

Where is your picture? We NEED to see your creations!
My daughter is getting married on the 9th of August. While people have come to expect favors most of us leave them behind or toss them (unless of course it's chocolate!) We have rented a vintage photo booth (http://www.captionsphotobooth.com/) that has unlimited use for the evening. We want people to take a strip of pictures home as their keepsake. This also acts as the guestbook - an attendant from the company helps people create a page which includes a picture strip. At the end of the evening we'll have a completed scrapbook/guest book. While Captions is a local company there are similar things all over the country.
My nieces both made donations to their favorite charities in lieu of favors.

Did anyone mention the custom M&Ms?
Good luck and have fun at the wedding!
What a cool idea! I am going to check into this one! Thanks!
