I didn't need an incentive and didn't have one when I signed. My upline did buy me a personalized stamp, but that was after I signed...I didn't know she was going to do that.
This month you get Sincere Salutations along with your kit. We never really know what the specials are going to be for the coming month until 2 weeks before.
In general though, the longer you wait, the more you are spending at full price. So, if you spend $50 in March and $50 in April and then sign up in May, you've spent at least $20 that you didn't have to spend if you'd signed up now. If you normally spend $100 per month, the incentive for May would have to be worth at least $50 ($60 if you count Sincere Salutations at the $20 value and not the half-price value of $10 it is in March) for it to be as beneficial.
My suggestion...sign up now.

If you think it will take you a while to make your first $300 quota, you may wish to start in April, since you would then have until Sept to make the first quota. Otherwise, now is best because you can take advantage of the great 1/2 price specials in March and get Sincere Salutations free.
I signed up in January (waited for almost 6months) because my upline said it was the best time, little did she know at the time what a great special they would give everyone!! If I were to sign up now I would say wait till April because it will start a new quarter, and that will give you till the end of September to make your first minimum!!
I signed up in January (it was great!) so I don't have to meet my minimum until the end of June BUT everything that I have bought/sold in Jan, Feb, and March will NOT count toward my 2nd quarter minimum. So you might as well sign up now - you can only count ACTUAL sales made in April, May, and June toward your first minimum. HTH
Update: Keri has advised me that effective Jan. 1st, this is no longer true - all sales count toward first minimum. Yah!!
A "Hobby Demo" is just an informal name for those of us who choose to sign up MOSTLY for our OWN discounts.
There is no difference to SU! - we all have to sign up the same. I am a hobby demo, and have never done a workshop. One friend orders regularly with me, and a couple friends order a little now and then. We have a more active demo friend who does workshops if they want to go to that.

Can someone explain what the minimums are? Is it so much every 3 months or every 6 months. I am confused.
You have to have sales of $300 minimum each quarter. However, when you first sign up, you don't have to meet that quota until the end of your second quarter. So, if you sign up at the beginning of a quarter, you actually have 6 months to meet that $300.
Example: If you sign up in April (the first mo. of that quarter), you actually have until the end of September to sell $300. But if you sign up in March (the last month of that quarter), you only have until the end of June to make the quota. So it's to your advantage to sign up the first month of a quarter to have that much longer to meet the goal. Make sense? :? Hope that helps. - J.
I started a couple of weeks ago and received a few extras. The way it sounds you need to get involved soon or wait untli later in July when the new catalog is out. It is never a bad time to get started. My first workshop i next Saturday and I am very excited . I feel if anything I came away with alot of product at a disounted price. Good luck deciding . I hope you go for it. What is the harm especially if you enjoy this so much.

Or it refers to those of us who have a very small customer base and must make up for any shortfall in the quarterly minimums ourselves (not that we mind buying stampin' stuff! ).
Having an extra two months to meet your minimum is only a factor if you are only buying for yourself, or for some reason want to sign up now but not go active for a couple months. (Marriage, Baby, etc. but you want to start at least getting your own discount!)
Most people easy are going to sell $300 a quarter. I do NO shows, have one stamping friend, and we do it together.
If you sign up after March, you won't get the free Sincere Salutations. But, there is almost always something going on, more free shipping, some different product, and as one demo pointed out, the longer you wait, the more money you waste.
I wish I'd signed up about a year before I did.

Actually this policy was just revised and your sales will count toward your June quota if I am not mistaken it was in the Dec SS...let me look for it hang on..
Quarterly net sales placed during the
first partial quarter of a new recruit’s demonstratorship will accumulate
toward her first quarterly minimum requirement due at the end of her
first full quarter. In the past, only
sales placed during the first full
quarter accumulated towards the first
quarterly minimum. Now, new recruits who join after January 1, 2005, can begin placing orders that will count
towards their first minimum quarterly
requirement as soon as they receive their demonstrator identification number.
