Wink What to do with stamps blocks

I'm starting to mount my new stamps to use on acrylic blocks -- but now I have a pile of wood blocks -- any creative ideas for reuse?

Why not use them to stamp on!

Use them for decoration in your house, Make gifts out of them.

Or you could give them to a day care center, for the kids to play with.

I make them into photo/card holders. I get a bit of 18 gauge craft wire twist one end into a big spiral and then jut the tip out. On that tip I place layers of flowers (like the ones in TAC's petal pack set) and when it looks full enough I twist the tip of the wire back towards the flowers to keep them in place. Then I take the opposite end of the wire and glue it into a wooden bead which gets mounted on the wooden block. Tie a bit of decorative ribbon around the base of the stem and you're done! I'll have to try and add one to me gallery to show you- they are really great and I make bigger ones with the bigger blocks and singles with the smaller blocks. I have skads of those blocks!

I've also given them to my rabbit with a bit of peanut butter smeared on them as a chew toy... Probably some of the most expensive treats he gets!

I put mine up for grabs in the B/S/T forum for the cost of postage.

The Photo card holders sound cute, I'll be watching to see your samples.
I do end up giving my clean blocks to my parrots to chew on......they go through wood toys pretty fast!!

Hello,

If anyone has blocks available, please let me know. I'd gladly take the postage deal. I just don't like double mounting stamps and would prefer them to be on separate blocks.

Thanks!

There is a market on E-bay. I've been selling mine (about 60 assorted blocks in a one rate box). The clam shell boxes too.

I should have started one 6 years ago. It would be nearly big enough now.

Default wooden block picture holders

OK- I know I got them into my gallery, but I don't know if this will work... here goes!

This is one of the picture holders I make with the left over blocks. They are sooooo easy! Bear in mind that these are not full size pictures. This one is 2X3 size. I also put business cards in them when I do a show or fair. Really nice My friend wants to use them as a "card recipe holder" so that when she gets a great card and wants to make more of them, she can pop the card on the holder and keep it out of her workspace. Those require a bit more wire to keep the card from slipping. But, anyway, there it is- as promised

Keep some to rub over background stamps (the blocks are easy to hold and have a smooth finish) to get even coverage after inking (with a brayer).

Use as a paper weight.

HTH and ...

Happy Crafting!

Your Photo is waiting to be approved...I'll check it out later.

Some other cool idea's to use your wood block for.

I know I saw this is the new SU catalog where someone had painted and then distressed the wood block. Then took a couple of Stamps and stamped the image on the block. It turned out super cute.

Or you could donate them to a wood craver.

The last one I stained the block with palette inks.

Do you have to clean them up? I have a bunch of new ones, but even more sticky ones. What do they usually go for?

I don't mess with the ones that are sticky. I figure those would be hard to sell. I toss those. I've been getting around $20 a box (approx. 60 new blocks in a mixture of sizes). I ship them in the one rate box for $9. It's free money so whatever I can sell them for makes me happy!
