What do you buy at JoAnn's (and not somewhere else)?
I got a gift card to JoAnn's for Christmas and honestly am having a hard time figuring out what to buy. I prefer Michael's to JoAnn's, but don't have the heart to tell the gift giver how I feel. She has bought me a few gift cards to JoAnn's and now I'm really starting to struggle to find stuff to order. I SO wish I had this $$$ to spend at Michael's. Oh, well. Help me spend this gift card at JoAnn's.
What would you buy?
I would stock up on their Marvy Giga, Mega and Super punches. Are your cards good at joann.com? They are having a sale on their punches, with free shipping, now.

Yes, the card is good online, but I already have the mega and giga oval scallop punches and I don't really want the others. I guess I should have mentioned that the card is only for $15. A good amount, but not enough to go hog wild.
Ditto on the punches. Also, as of yesterday afternoon, they had their Provo Craft lunch box tins on sale for $3.99 each. I also like their own line of craft essentials (aka embellishments) and they often put those on sale for 40% off. In the actual store, they now have some dollar stamps - different designs in clear stamps and wood mounted - and little dollar kiosk things that have different embellishments and papers for $1. I'm also a big fan of their new Gallery J stuff. They're kits and run about $20-30 each regular price. I've bought their advent calendar (was on clearance in the store last week for $7.99 or 9.99 online) which is misnamed the traditional calendar online, their clock set, and their holiday recipe box set. I think they're all pretty darn good quality (except the rub ons are a bit cheap, but the rest is good stuff) and a steal when they're on sale/clearance. I've been really happy with the Gallery J things I've bought. They also come with plenty of supplies to complete the kit (I have some left over from the advent calendar kit). My only complaint was that some of the rub ons detached and rubbed themselves on to the protective paper they stuck behind them (the rub ons are much easier to rub onto paper than most brands, so I think they transferred to the other paper with just a small amount of pressure).

The advent calendar sounds (and looks online) adorable! I love advent calendars anyway. I may have to make a trip over to JoAnn's right after work. Gift cards just burn a hole in my pocket! Anybody else? I guess that's a whole different thread. LOL!
If I can't find anything stamping related I need (or it's out of stock), I wander to the books/magazines area. I almost always find something interesting--last time I got a great slow cooker cookbook (ok, while not directly stamping related, I do need to eat to keep up my stamping strength, right?)
Oh I forgot! Last week Joann's (the physical store) had tons of stamps on clearance. And I don't mean 30% off clearance. I mean the stamps were no more than $3.50 clearance (even big ones). They had maybe 1/3 of their open stock stamps on clearance and the remaining ones were pretty picked through (some were $1 too), but I found about 7-8 super cute ones to pop into my basket. Maybe they're still on sale!
You could stock up on adhesive - Mono Multi, Pop Dots, or try out the Sakura Stardust pens! Also, they have great scissors (just bought some Tonic ones there)!

I got some Mono Multi and clear Sakura Stardust pens for xmas. I love both of those items! Our JoAnn's isn't great so they don't have the clear stardust pens. Maybe I'll try a different color. I just LOVE the clear ones, though. Thanks for the suggestions!!!
Our J's also sells Tombow markers if you like other brands than SU! Sakura glaze or souffle pens. I always use coupons to stock up on hermafix or xyron refills if nothing else. One can never have too much adhesive!
If I had a $15 gift certificate to Joann.com I would buy any of these items:
Making Memories patterned paper, ribbon and embellishments.
They also sell Versafine Ink pads which I absolutely love. It's permanent ink but doesn't smell like Stazon and cleans up easily.
HTH,
Deloris
Joann's has little spools of gingham ribbon with their scrapbooking stuff- it's the same ribbon as in the fabric department, but suprisingly, since it's repackaged onto smaller spools- it's the same price per yard. That's a great way to stock up on lots of ribbon colors.
Other than that I'd get misc hardware like brads and eyelets.
NEW DCWV stacks are BEAUTIFUL...I would get one for sure. I also love Joann Scrap Essetnials mini brads. I buy them at 50% off and stock up 200 minibrads for $2.99, good price and great quality.

Our JoAnn's is just junky. I went there tonight and bought nothing. I think I'm going to wait for a coupon at Michael's to get the Cuttlebug and then use the $15 at JoAnn's to get some embossing templates. Thanks for everyone's suggestions! I just wish we had a NICE JoAnn's. :(
My Joann's has none of this stuff. They have a teesy eensy stamping section and some embellishments. I prefer Hobby Lobby or Jeffrey Alans. But I'm sure I could find something if I had to.
I would grab some fun trims, pom-poms, rick rack, etc. They're usually about .99 - 1.99 per yard, and I think even the oldest stores have a good selection.
I would so get the DCWV Old World, Far East or Pocket full of Posies stacks with it.. they have matching mat stacks and albums.. I've only seen them at Joanns and Hobby Lobby
They also have a 50% off coupon this Friday-Saturday. And they are having an additional 50% off clearance stuff. What a great time to get next year's Christmas stuff started.
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
I also prefer Michaels, but when at JoAnn's I usually check out the ribbons, buttons, paper, and embellishments. They often are listed at 40% off. Good luck!!
I try to pick up things like Take 10 or other magazines and of course use the coupon to get additonal off....you could be all set for a year of your favorite magazine that you don't subscribe to, or as mentioned your favorite adhesive, baskets for storage, and I bought some 7 gypsies chipboard stuff on sale , on-line, and spent enough to get free shipping. I wish I had gotten that for christmas. My brother got me a gift certificate to the Store at STampington, for my birthday. I thought it was so cool. bought stamps of course.
My Joann's has 50% off coupons at the registers right now - they're good for this weeked. So first I'd grab a couple of those to stretch your gift card! My Joann's carries a lot of Heidi Swapp embelishments (clear acrylic hearts, chipboard, etc.) that my Mike's, etc. don't carry, so I would go for those.
