I don't know if you consider monograms a trend, but I've been seeing some beautiful cards with monograms lately. I recently got some DIY Just rite stamps, and see many possibilities. I also have some beautiful Papertrey stamps that are good for monograms.

What she said.
But not just martini glasses. How about other cocktail glasses? And how about some different shapes of wine glasses (red, white, champagne) and different shapes of wine bottles (both corked and with separate corks)?
Hah. It's not even 9:00 a.m. and I'm *talking* about booze.
BTW, this has been a fun thread, though I'm not so sure about octopusses. (Sorry Erin).
More jewelry elements. Like the stickpin/beads/pearls in the recent catalog. I've noticed jump rings being used to attached punched tags to ribbon in recent gallery cards; I can see more beads/charms being layered on to those.
On the other hand, if postage continues to rise, especially for odd size or lumpy cards, I could see a trend in totally FLAT cards, trying to make them as eye-pleasing as possible without adding any bulk and extra postage.
I think tree's will be the next big thing. I have been seeing a lot of cute ones lately. Especially with the new release from Unity. I love it because they can be colored so many ways to make them versatile.
With her Kittie Kits stamps, kittie747 is creating her own trend for landscapes and scenes. That demonstrates how one talented artist can influence this market. The responses in a recent thread were all positive and enthusiastic.
I've heard that solid images are the next in thing.

octopus are gonna be HOT. They will be the next owls.
Deer are already pretty trendy, but I think they will gain a little ground before they go "out".
I think we have a bit longer with the owl trend. I don't think it's over quite yet.
Colors will be really fresh. A little towards the bright side, but still nice. Fully saturated color. Not florescent though.
And I think the designer type cards will continue to be hot. I mean clean strong desigener type layouts.
I agree that space will remain a great theme.
Erin, I think you're spot on! If you watch the trends in making softees on Etsy and Flickr, I think it'll give you a pretty good idea of what's to come.

That's actually where I got the idea. The softie world. I love me some softies! I trendwatch colors from that too.
Also I try to watch what's big in Japan. Japan kicks our butt in cuteness time and time again. They are the world leaders of cute.
All this talk about octupus and deer and Japan is from MY point of view of course, classy cards will always be classy and I'm not totally sure, but I think the altered art types will be doing more and more altered envelopes and mail art.

I love the idea that the octopus will be the next big thing! Ours has been out since LAST June so she's one year old! LOL! Check her out from our "Just keep swimming" set. (Am I ahead of my time? Hope so!) Octo-party! by Gina K. Designs at Splitcoaststampers

I mean layouts that have a graphic designer feel. Kristen Werner comes to mind, but there are other people who have this look. Making a really strong statement with just a few elements placed really well.
Also the graphic designer element I've seen in some actual stamp designs. I think that will continue for a bit too.

I so totally agree with you and admit I love this cutesy stuff. Think Gwen Stefani and the Harajuku girls. . .and then think about how popular Hello Kitty has been for years and it seems to be making a resurgence right now.

I agree with the Bee's they are one of my fav's
there is a really cute one with a large stinger that had a quote with it asking does my stinger make my butt look big! ROFL
The octopus trend is cute, but it's already halfway through summer so I can't see them being "big" in the fall. I just don't feel like they fit with the cooler seasons. Maybe it's just me?
80's patterns and colors... stripes, dots, checkers, ALMOST neon colors.
UNICORNS! WHERE ARE THE UNICORNS!
Rainbows... with clouds.
Check out K & Company's new Berry Sweet line - it's got ALMOST neon colors with rainbows, unicorns, mushrooms, whales, owls, fruit, and yes, even sock monkeys.
This is a fun thread - thanks!!
I love Hello Kitty and would love to have a stamp set of her - has anyone ever seen one? I got a whole clear set of Fluffles for cheap on ebay auction last year WHILE I was looking for Hello Kitty - I have HK dp, stickers, band-aids, note paper, but have yet to see a stamp set - Anyway....hee hee...just a little girl at heart.
Also, since SU! has discontinued Noble Deer, it will be my purchase at stamp club this month...have seen sheer genius cards made with it and wanted it for a long time, and it seems timeless.
Not so interested in all the octopi, bees, owls, or monkeys although I see great cards made with them, they don't motivate me. Much happier with florals and scenes.
I loved the silhouette set in the mini - can't remember the name but it was a garden with a sentiment and something else...didn't buy it but loved it. Thanks for all the links - it will take all week to visit them all!!
I'd cheer this one on since I'm coloring challenged!
I'm in for the glasses and what not.
I used to think I was coloring challenged, but with practice and the right tools, I've gotten a lot better. I'm sure you know already but I just wanted to point out that there are a TON of tutorials out there. LOL I feel like I've discovered the fun of coloring and just want everyone to do it too.
