Question What ink dries the fastest on a transparency?

I'm trying to make a card from the Paper Craft magazine with a transparency but the ink isn't drying. It's a permanent dye ink. Would stazon dry faster?
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Melissa

Yep! That is what Stazon is made for: plastic, glass, watercoloring over, it'll stain your stamps but it doesn't hurt em.

Awsome from the Dollar Tree, takes off the Stazon!

Then I use my stamp cleaner to re-condition the rubber.

Staz-on is my ink of choice with transparencies. You still need to sit back for a short while to let the ink be certain to dry. You can then use souffle, glaze and many of the Gelly Roll pens to color in the images, or stamp behind them, or use acrylic paints, or... Transparencies are addictive!

A absolutely love working with transparencies or acetate papers! Alcohol inks turn out gorgeous, but I haven't tried fluid chalk on anything. Please explain how it is different than other inks (investments).

A solvent ink (like Ranger's) would probably dry the absolute fastest, but the smell is SO not worth it! Staz-On, Brilliance, chalk inks, are all sort of hybrid inks. They are permanent when dry. They do take a short time to dry, but not so long that it's a pain to wait.

Also if you use an acetate that is labeled "embossable", you can use your heatgun to set the ink quicker. I have done this with the Palette inks.

Default Ink on transparency

I use nothing but StazOn for my transparencies. I am using a LOT of them for my Xmas cards and that is the only ink that will work. I am also using H2o's and painting between the lines... the StazOn actually stays on and there is no bleeding or loss of image.

I've always used Staz-On, Brilliance or Memories. I've also had some success with Ancient Page.

Truuuuudeeeeeee!!! You say Fluid Chalk dries on acetate as well? Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink????? Is it as fast as the aforementioned?

I *MUST* know!!!!!! Do tell, girl!!!

If you use InkJet Transparencies, you can use any ink. There is one side that is rough to pick up the ink. Stamp on the rough side and flip it over. Voila. Smooth and see-through beautiful. Ink jet transparencies can be picked up cheap at Staples and OfficeMax for sure. I love the look of craft ink on these.

I don't think so because my inkjet printer uses watersouble ink and if you just give it a minute it dries great!

WOW. I'm just so deliriously happy to learn this! Serious!!! Thanks! I have no idea what I'm gonna do with my newly learned tidbit, but for some WEIRD reason, I'm just particularly excited about it!

Now, if I can just figure out WHERE I have hidden that package of inkjet transparencies . . .

Ooooh, Trudee--I found that Charcoal and Dark Brown Fluid Chalk dried VERY well on regular transparency. I was just kinda disappointed the Alabaster didn't, tho . . . :(

So, now I found 2 lonely last sheets of inkjet transparency, and I'm testing Alabaster on that to see what happens. Then, I will shut myself away in the laboratory of rubbah and concoct . . . something. No clue what yet, but . . . SOMETHING. (insert evil cackling)

I just took a class last night called Acetate Frost and you use Staz-on and then turn it over and put drops of the Ranger Alochol reinkers and then dab these around. Then ink up the whole thing with a white ink pad and then put embossing powder over it and heat it. They look so cool - almost like cards that have come from an art museum. I have complete directions I was given if anyone wants them.

Ladies, calm down. I wasn't home last night, but here's the directions. I posted three cards to my gallery but don't know how to link my gallery to this response. If you can tell me how to do that that would be great. Anyhoo, search under "acetate frost" . I just posted them this morning. It is the neatest technique, plus I got all the Tim Holtz alcohol inks 1/2 price last night at Hobby Lobby. Guess they were part of the ink pad 1/2 price sale going on this week. By the way, in the instructions it said to dampen the sponge with the alcohol blender - I didn't even do that and they turned out awesome.

These cards are made with the acetate frost method. Directions are:
1. Stamp image onto acetate sheet using Staz-on Ink.
2. Turn acetate over and work on UNSTAMPED side.
3. Place a few dots of alcohol ink on acetate.
4. Moisten sponge with alcohol blender solution and sponge blender over the inks, turning the sponge over between colors so that they don't get muddy.
5. Use heat tool to dry inks.
6. Ink white pigment ink over dried alcohol inks to cover inks. The alcohol inks should be visible thru the white ink.
7. Cover the ink with clear embossing powder, remove excess and emboss.

When using dye ink refills instead of alcohol inks:
1. In step 3 above sponge white pigment ink over acetate and then dot dye ink refills onto the white ink. Proceed to step seven.

I don't know why the photos aren't showing up, but if you hit on the title it shows. Anyone know what's happening???

In answer to hegiemama you need Stazon Black to stamp the image, then a white pigment ink pad, and Ranger Alcohol inks or dye reinkers. There are different instructions for alcohol or dye. The instructions are included with each photo.

You can go to my gallery and there are three pictures of the cards I made along with the instructions. Have fun. This is a really cool technique and it's great to use collage type stamps for this effect. You can also put glitter on the white ink also before embossing.
