Default What size frame for a name frame?

I've been seeing some really cool name frames posted in the gallery & was thinking I'd try making a couple for my boys over the weekend.

For those of you who have been making them, which size frame is your favorite? I was thinking of using the frames for panoramic pictures. Do they give you enough room to work with/embellish?

Thanks for any insight!

i would suggest going to the dollar store, they have all sorts of frames there some that are 12x4 that give you plenty of room for those big names... i got mine at target in the dollar spot back in october so i stacked up on them!

I've done one name frame so far. Here it is:

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

This frame was 20" long by 8" high on the inside - pretty big but my DD has a long name. I'm making another one for my other DD w/ the same size frame. They were more expensive but worth it since I did it as gifts for them. After I get the second one done I have other ones planned that will be in smaller frames (roughly 8" by 13") that I got at Wal Mart for like $4.50 Can each. The big frames were much more expensive (around $16 each I think). HTH!

Does anyone know where you can get the really nice ones like Shelli used in Stampin' Success? They were gold and had beading or something around the inside of the frame. I haven't been able to find anything like it.

If you take a close look at the frame it's rather simple and plain - it's the matting that has that extra embelleshment - you maight have to get a mat custom made to get it like that but the frame you could get anywhere.

I used frames that I bought at Walmart that were about 16" x 8" with double matting that had spacers between it. This gave extra depth between the glass for all of the dimensional things I used on mine - charms, bows, pop-dotted flowers, etc. They were originally matted for 3 photos, but I used an X-acto knife and a metal ruler and trimmed the inner parts out. They were around $13 each, I think.
