personally for me it's sewing...it's EVERYWHERE! the occasional stitched item is great...but it seems like every frame is stitched (or faux), bits and pieces sewn together with a standard machine stitch...that (and as much as i adore this part) layers that never end! paper upon paper upon flowers upon flowers upon die cuts upon punches upon borders...not saying i'm a great example of the CAS style...but often i'm seeing (IMHO) just too much on a card...hard to see what the designer is really after because there are so many parts!
cricuits mainly cause I cant justify buying it myself :(
But on a less "oh is me" level lol, im ready to say good bye to very busy cards. I just cant see why you would use so many supplies on one card! And the postage is extreme on those!

I kind of like sewing on cards, but I totally agree with you about the cards that look like they need a forklift to pick them up!! LOL A few layers look great to me, but after that it gets painful to look at

I think part of it is the Victorian/collage style where "more is more" is partly what you are seeing. I enjoy the depth and complexity, but I also love CAS cards. I am a mixed pot when it comes to styles.
I tend to create without thoughts of how something is mailed...I'm thinking there are many others who create the same way. lol!
Not a fan of some of the trendy children stamps. The more realistic ones I like, not so much the inflated, chubby looking things. Again...a preference. ;)

agreed...not that i'm actually good about sending cards out...but occasionally i've put one or two in the post and fingers and toes crossed they make it through...heavy/bulky as they may be...and that's just flowers or bows!
I'm totally over ill-proportioned "child" stamps or those that are missing features - mouths, for example. I also find it somewhat disturbing to have a child's face on an image doing something more mature - even burlesque in some cases - or dressed more maturely. Back to personal preferences, I'm sure, but since you asked...
I was all set to say "Scallops" but I have to agree with owls, cupcakes and kids, too. In a few weeks I will be adding "Snowmen" to the list. It seems that way too many Christmas sets include a snowman.

I am with you on this one ! Most are so cluttered with several different prints and embellishments that there is no focal point
I am also tired of seeing distressed anything including paper . Some layouts look like the car rolled over them; a mouse chewed it to make a nest; or the roof leaked on them in the attic LOL
OK, you asked!...........on a different note, French manicures and too much jewelry in tutorials....too distracting :(
Also, constantly hearing the "t" sound while someone is explaining their tutorial or the over use of the word "pop". Ok, I said it............

this totally made me giggle!
i do 100% appreciate all of those willing to put themselves out there and create a tutorial...but yeah...pop this pop that and then some more pop!

Overly cutesy and how everything is "cute", cute this and cute that, ugh. Can't we have something a little sophisticated for a change?
Another thing that bugs me after watching a few videos, is not being prepared, can't find the scissors or too much chit chatting with the family, friends...you get the picture. If you're going to video a tutorial, be prepared. Also, wear or use a microphone or speak up, it drives me nuts when you can't hear or understand what is being said. Some are really good, but some are well....just not.
Not trying to sound snarky or anything, just sayin'.
ok...so we've thrown out some ideas about what we are ready to see "fade away"...so what is catching your eye these days? what's "popping" for you?? (totally had to use the pop!)
for me...(just goes to show the personal preference thing) I love handmade flowers...ribbon, paper, tissue, grungepaper...adore them all...so many ways to create! that and i'm partial to inking..."rainbow" effect (i think this is accomplished with brayers and different inks), distress inks applied to paper and grungepaper/grungeboard to create a "personal" color mix; alcohol inks to get that "marbled" look; pretty much anyway you can use your ink collection to "personalize" your art! (just noticed...maybe i overuse the quotes! LOL!)
I like cards that don't look overly crowded with stuff. I don't like the grunge look. It looks like the paper was poorly printed. (I guess they call that grunge, I'm not sure.)
Fun question!
For me it's the clean and simple look of some stamps (not cards), stamps that either look like they were totally computer drawn or drawn by a child. Also the big eyes on people/kids, huge heads or headless.
I also do not like the birdcage trend. Makes me think about the poor bird that's sitting in a cage. There are some pretty birdcage stamps out there though, I just can't use n them for that reason.
Kids with big heads or no faces. Or the kids with partial faces. I tend to use a lot of layers at times but I really lean toward simple cards. I never have been into the owls...but SU has an owl punch and he is so darned cute. Normally I don't do cute. I love vintage and I like the grunge look now and again. Love all the handmade flowers.
Cards that are so full of stuff they cannot possibly be mailed. Sure it looks great in the picture, but how are you going to mail it so that it gets where it's going without getting ruined?
Oh my, I am SO IN TROUBLE if all these go away, because they're sort of my style, lol! I hope NONE of those things go out of style, but for your benefit, I hope more people load the galleries with what you're looking for so you don't tire of those of us who like lots of "stuff" on our cards! And big headed kid stamps, lol!
I'm trying to think of something I can't wait to say farewell too...and honestly nothing is coming to me! I just love every style I guess
I spent about $20 on a ribbon iron two or three years ago. It has been out of the package once. I brought it to a large crop one night, plugged it in and said
"use it, please!" and got stares like I was nuts. Not a good investment.

Too funny, just yesterday I was telling my mom that if I see another one of those big headed kids cards I was gonna scream. Wouldn't you know it, I go to one of my favorite blogs and what's the first card I see?.....I think I woke the neighbors
Never liked ill proportioned kids, don't get me started on Bratz...uugh, and blanck faced anything literally scare me, give me the shivers.
I have never been able to tolerate a bird imprissoned in a cage, so no cages for me either.
Just goes to show though, I love bulky cards I love shabby, love glitter, grunge, snowmen(have about 50 or so).
My mom always said "That's why God made so many colors, so everyone could have a favorite".
Wrinkle ribbon. Weren't we all just buying ribbon irons a few years ago???
...
Wrinkle ribbon is a trend? Haven't noticed this, but I imagine it would look okay on grunge or shabby chic cards. Being a CAS stamper myself, I'd iron those wrinkles right out!
I'm not really trendy, and I don't look in the Gallery much (I know, shame on me, right?) , so I still like some of these things. I never liked the oddly-proportioned, faceless children or the "grunge" look anyway. All that being said, I am so sick of seeing those humongous paper flowers all over the place. I can't imagine how you would mail a card with those on them, or fit a page with one of them in your scrapbook. And, of course, the English teacher in me absolutely HATES misspelled and mispronounced words. I'm not talking about typos, because we all make them, but nothing will ruin an article or video for me more quickly than really bad grammar.

I'm not into distressed paper or cutesy images. I noticed there is still lots of cards in the current SU catalog with ripped edges. I've never been into that and I thought it was out ages ago. Maybe it's gone full circle and back again!
I'm not a big "trends" person so I'm not tired of cupcakes...to me they are just a birthday classic so I will continue to use them. I like the owls that are stamped or punched that I see on cards but I don't do much with them except for the few $1.00 owl stamps I use at Halloween.
I lean toward more CAS so not I'm big on lots of layers and frills. I don't like frilly stuff. That said, everyone has their style and I don't want to hurt any feelings. All the cards here are lovely!

LOL! Grunge and Shabby Chic/Vintage really "pop" for me!
But I also enjoy CAS looks! My style is pretty all over the place! Depends on my mood!
Oh and I love the sheet music paper!
Dislike. Yep, malformed kids, scuffed up edges on paper, overembellished cards.
Love CAS, simple striped or dotty design papers, silhouette trees and dandelions, cute (as in elzybells style) animals, humorous old folks with funny sayings.
I also do not like the birdcage trend. Makes me think about the poor bird that's sitting in a cage. There are some pretty birdcage stamps out there though, I just can't use n them for that reason.
Funny! I thought I was the only one that felt sorry for the bird
I went to a SAS where one of the cards was a birdcage card, and I put the bird on top to let him go free!
LOL! i was thinking just that when someone said they feel sorry for the bird. Also I grew up with a lovely brass birdcage in our house with a plant in it (it was very happy).
I don't usually care for the ripped scruffed edges but I just made my son a card for his 13the bday and it just worked to scruff some of it up.
I guess there is a place for any technique they just need to be used in the right context.
I love simple and shabby cards.
I don't care for stamps that look like a child drew them (I am thinking of an animal set SU had recently and they were very child-like (remember it had a snake that lookied like it was smoking a cig.?)
I love looking at all the card styles that come across here.

I really despise those stamps. I just don't go for cutesy! I figured maybe it is because I am in my early 50s, but apparently there are a lot of you out there that don't like them either.
Also agree about the overly decorated, heavy cards. Sure they are pretty, but how practical are they if you want to make a bunch of them. They would take way too much time. Plus as someone said, how are you going to mail them. It also irritates me that these are the only cards that seem to get comments in the gallery.
I'm soooo gonna make a card with a paisley owl holding a cupcake with sewn layers tonight!
Just kidding
When I started I bought all kinds of stuff because I thoguht I'd use it all. After all that's what it's there for right? Well I wished I'd have waited until I developed more of a style. Now I have a CAD and eyelets that I can't sell if my life depended on it :-(
