What went wrong with this card? Does anyone know why the black staz on bled? I used the stazon let it dry then colored in with chalk ink and pearl ex. Then I sprayed it with a matt sealer. Did the sealer do it? Any recomendations?
Thanks
The only thing I can think of is maybe it had something to do with a sealer you used. I use Stazon as my regular ink pad and use it on everything. I have used it on the Glossy cardstock and with pearlex never a problem. I have never had a problem with it bleeding like that. I have used the Krylon Triple Thick Glaze with it when I was making pens and it never bled but I never did it right away or anything maybe it was drier??? It does look kewl tho but know how you feel when something happens that wasn't intended to happen.
Whenever inks bleed it is because another product (ink or sealer) contains a subset of the same chemical ingredient causing the 1st ink to re-activate (bleed). What sealer did you use? I generally stick to Krylon (matte or glossy) as I haven't had them cause bleeding. I am thinking that Krylon must develop their product knowing inks and paints are going to be used in the projects.
:? sorry your card ran, BUT it turned out extreamly beautiful! I wonder if you tried it again if it would do the same thing? Would you post what sealer you used so I can try this? I think it is way cool.
I have had my Stazon run too when I sprayed the sealer. I found through trial and error that the first time you spray you have to spray from about 2 feet away and VERY lightly. Let that dry, about 5 minutes, then seal again. It worked fine when I used several light coats instead of one heavy coat. Maybe you could try that.
It's the spray sealer. I too have had the Stazon run when my spray. Light coats, held far away and apply with a sweeping motion. Let dry - and I mean really dry - and they another light coat. It does look very nice. Almost as if you had a filter on a camera.
Actually, it's not the sealer itself, it's how you used the sealer. You have to hold it far enough away and do very lite coats. But I have to say, it looks very, very cool as it is. I really like it!!
Oh, and to the best of my former hairdresser student knowledge, all hairsprays have alcohol. StazOn and Alcohol don't mix. Alcohol is the one thing that will remove StazOn if you get it on the floor or walls.
Have you ever noticed that when you have one of those happy accidents where things - like this card - turn out really cool, you can never reproduce that happy accident again. Bummer.
