Default What is your favorite SU stamp set?

Hi, I'm kinda new to stamping and to SCS. I'm a little overwhelmed and a lot under budget with all the stamps I want to order. What are some of your favorite and most used SU stamp sets?

Thanks!
Kelly

Default Favorite SU set

My favortie SU set is shapes and shadows. It can be used for just about every occasion you can think of. Plus it can go from being very frilly to masculine depending on the color of cardstock used and which stamp you use. It's great for one sheet wonders too!!!!

It;'s so hard to pick just one.
But if you are just starting out and you want to get a good variety for on a budget, here's what I'd do:

Pick 1 "2 step stampin set" (either terrific tulips or roses in winter)

Pick one bold image set (I love "all the best")

Pick one line drawing set that you can color in ( I love "wonderful Wings" and "In full bloom")

This way you have one each of the three main styles, and you can see which one you naturally gravitate towards! This way, your srtyle will emerge, and you can build your collection from there. Or maybe you'llbe like me and love all three styles! LOL!

It is hard to limit it to one, but my current favorite is the Canvas background stamp. It was in the winter mini catalog, but it was so popular that SU has extended it until the end of June.

My all-time favourite is Definitely Decorative Daisy. I've used it more times than I can count.

A close second would be Spring Garden.

And I think stampmomma gave really good advice, so listen to her!!

I am excited to be getting DD Bold Butterflies for my stamping start. I just got DD Daisy and I think both of these are great.
You do need to get a set that is good for all different occasions too.
Just my 2 cents

Right now, my favorite is Shapes & Shadows! Although, in a couple weeks I'll probably have a new favorite! It's so hard to choose! Good luck!

i am a "budgeted" stamper too! i think the best stamp purchase i ever made is "all natural" it's a cheaper stamp set (only 17.95) and super versatile, check out the gallery here and there will be tons of inspiration for it! i really like "all the best" too but haven't had a chance to play with it as much. just my 2 cents

If you want to save a little money, get shapes and shadows or another half off set. Look in the gallery here for your favorite sets to see how you can use them.

I love this set -- it was the first one I purchased -- only been stamping since last summer (but I already have over 30 stamps in less than a year - so yes I am an addict) You are right - it is VERY versatile.

If I need a card in a hurry and I want it to be elegant, Terrific Tulips, hands down. It's the set I turn to in a pinch every time. I hope they never retire it!

My personal favs are In Full Bloom, Little Hellos, Sincere Salutations, and Shapes and Shadows. I find with these sets, I can make a card for any occasion for any person. Oh, and the French Script Background and the Canvas Background.

I agree with Stampmomma. Select 1 of each style so you can try them out. Personally for 2 step I'm drawn to Shapes and Shadows (50% off this month) or Simple Sketches. And for a line drawing I love In Full Bloom. Or you could try Summer by the Sea since it's 50% off this month.

Welcome to the stampin' family!

I know this sounds silly, but when I am in a bind my "go to" set has been Tags n More-totally simple, easy, and non-technique driven, but I love it
I guess I am am old-fashioned girl at heart!

Also LOVE Terrific Tulips

My favorite set is Botanicals

It has flowers to make a feminine card, leaves for a nice fall card, a butterfly and a bee for a country look, a script for a background and a stamp that says "To Someone Special" That can be used for a lot of different greetings. I use it a lot.

Another tip is if you can't afford a lot of different inks, buy a Versamark pad. It is so versatile. You can stamp it on any color of card stock to get a shade or two darker than the paper. It is one of those pads that if I were deserted on an island and could have only one ink, that would be it. It is also great for embossing.

My favorite set of late has been A Little Love. I've made so many cute things out of that set! Honestly, though I do love them all and Teriffic Tulips comes in second as my all-time favorite set. So I think you might just HAVE TO HAVE that one! LOL!

Cheers!

There is NO WAY I could pick just one. I couldn't even narrow it down 10.

OH, What's a stampaholic to do? Just too much temptation and not enough will power.

Everyone has posted wonderful suggestions for 'design' stamps. However, even if you're new, I think it's pretty important to have some 'word' stamps. My suggestion is to snag up that Sincere Salutations while it's only $9.95 this month. I remember when I started stamping I kept buying so many cool looking sets, than found myself frustrated because I had no words to use when I went to make cards.

I would have to say one of my favorite sets is Lovely as a tree but we were just shown In full bloom and now I'm hooked on that! I have 80 sets and been a Su member for 2 years so it's hard to choose. I love the advice from stampinmomma. That was great!

I love sets that can be used for both feminine and masculine cards - I agree that All Natural is perfect for this reason, and I love Botanicals, too...the flowers are pretty for the girls and the leaves are masculine enough to do for male birthdays and father's day. The script background can also be used in so many ways. I would also suggest getting one of the All Year Cheer sets - I have all 3 now, but only had AYC I for the longest time and it covered me for most major holidays!

I never would have thought I would have some of the sets I have now, but you'll be amazed at how your tastes evolve as you see more and more ideas with different sets...happy choosing
