...I don't get Do the Hula before it retires??? Will I wake up in a tubful of ice with a note on my chest directing me to call 911? Cursed to always choose the slowest checkout line? Never find a parking spot close to the doors ever again?
I have had a love-on for this great, bold set for ages, and now it's retiring and forcing me to make a decision. I just have this 'thing' about paying for wood blocks I won't use, shipping, and tax all in one go. Anyone have a perspective to give me that will get me out of this undecided rut I've been stuck in for the past age?

I can't help you ;) I caved in and bought it the *very* second I saw it on the retirement list.
The worst thing that will happen??? You will throw a fabulous hawaiian theme party and can't make the invitations. You will go on a tropical vacation and never ever be able to scrapbook your amazing photos. You will stalk the gallery for the next 2 years *wishing* you had bought the set AND then you will buy it on Ebay for an absolute fortune.
Would it help if I ordered it for you and removed the blocks? I don't know how much that would save you in shipping. BETTER YET - find someone in a state without sales tax and have them buy it (no tax) and remove the blocks (less shipping)....

What I think is...life will go on. Somehow, things will be fine! And if in time you can't stand it, you can probably get in on the buy and sell thread, it isn't vanishing from the face of the earth, after all.
It's a tough decision. I based my purchase on the fact of usage. We make a trip to Hawaii once a year... this was a must for my collection. I also agree with the comment made by Eternity.
Kathleen, you made me laugh, I can imagine the Hula girl turning into Mel's version of the dancing baby on Ally McBeal, bwahahahahahaha!
Sorry, Mel, don't have any helpful advice!
I personally think you should buy it, you are really wrestling with the idea so I know you really want the darn thing, so buy it already! I really regretted my decision not to buy Wonderful Wings when it retired and I had to wait a really long time to find it on Ebay UM for a decent price. Do yourself a favor and get your set while you can from SU.

do you have a friend or your demo that is going to hang onto theirs? You could always borrow it if needed.
Or you could ask in the RAK forum for somebody to stamp you a few images
This one is on my "heading for high prices" ebay list!
I think if you want it-get it. Save the wood blocks. If you don't use it often resell it-then YOU will be the one to be making the big bucks on the bay!

Do you even want to take your chances with the parking lot gods...? I say not:twisted:
the universe could implode upon itself and you will be stuck in a non-stamping alter universe where you will have to knit and sit on the front porch drinking mint tea.....
I tell ya... THIS is the reason why I go to garage sales. I have yet to find stamps at one, but what if the one I pass up does?!!!
I've seen Pampered Chef at garage sales so maybe stamps will be too... haven't seen them yet though!

Get it if you think you will use it. I used to buy EVERY stamp that I thought I had to have and you know what? Most of them have never even seen ink but I just had to have them. Go with your gut!!
I just ordered it. I travel to Hawaii every year and so I'm hoping it will be used in my scrapbook. I feared it would be too expensive to get it later, so worst case, I'll sell it later.
I have already lulled myself to sleep thinking of cards I'll make once I get Hip Hip Hooray and can't wait to order it. I say go for it. Like everyone said, worst thing if you do get it is that you don't use it and sell it to someone like you who missed out and make some $$$.
God bless.
You could get it, I probably would, I just got my secret crush set. BUT if you don't you will be fine! There are similar sets. One person mentioned TAC has one, You will be ok if you don't get it.
but really if you think it will haunt you GET IT.
On the issue of garage sales I've passed up some at garage sales for like 3 bucks later to see them on ebay for like $50! I might just buy ANY SU set I see at a garage sale now and worst case sell it here for what I paid and someone will be happy to get it!

One alternative is Oriental Trading Company has a very similar set for $14.
I think it is cuter than Do the Hula. I haven't bought either becauseI just can't decide beteween the two.
I too have been ogling this set for a long time and I ordered it the very day it went on the retired list. Now I have it in my own little hands. Go for it and don't delay. You know you will regret it later. I predict it will not be replaced with anything as good.
It's too painful to think about the worst. I enable you, along with all the rest of your friends, if that helps.

I have managed to lead a full and complete life without it (at least up until this point). And besides.....you just KNOW there will be a much better SU Hawaiian theme in the new catty!
