As I was reviewing my latest issue of Simple Scrapbooks (again!), I noticed something I'd missed before. They profiled six stampers and which music they all listened to while stamping. I found it amusing, because I have to have music on when I stamp! It got me wondering - what does SCS listen to when stamping?
Here's my list:
Artists you might know
Abba
Corrs
Barenaked Ladies
Enigma
Enya
Jewel
Queen
Sarah McLachlan
Seal
Tears for Fears
Toto
and for Christmastime.... TransSiberian Orchestra
Artists that will make you say "WHO?"
Aeone
Afro Celt Sound System (half Irish, half Kenyan... What can I say-it works?)
Delerium
Era
Iona
Lesiem
Loreena McKennit
Maire Brennan
Paul Schwartz
What's your list?

Sadly enough my stamping music is Barney, the Wiggles, the Backyardigans, Dora and Blue's Clues and last but not least My Little Pony's A Very Minty Christmas which I hear at least 3 times daily no matter what season. The only time I have a chance to stamp is when my daughter's in front of the TV.
On the occasion VSN when my daughter is at Nanny's it is KISS. Because I'm using the computer my husband has the TV and stereo and listens to his collection of CDs and DVDs. The only time I listen to my own music is in the car. There I listen to Eurythmics, Faith Hill, and Bon Jovi so that's probably what I would listen to if I could while stamping.

I don't listen to anything, cause I'm refereeing, or listening for the dryer or quit, or answering questions from 6 kids, like, What are you doing that for? What is this little thing for? Can I do that?

Sometimes I'll listen to TV or movies while stamping, and sometimes I'll have CMT on and listen to the country videos. Lately I've been listening to I-tunes on the computer. My current playlist includes a lot of Jack Johnson, Johnny Cash, Josh Rouse, Ben Harper, and right now, David Gray. I guess I'm into moody men right now.
I have the craziest assortment of music. I usually have itunes on in the background since my stamping table is right across from the computer. Let's see if I can even summarize my list, it's currently 276 songs, and there's not too many repeat artists.
Here's just a glimpse into my bizarre tastes: Abba, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Barenaked Ladies, Beck, Billy Talent, Blink 182, Bush, Eels, Eurythmics, Frou Frou, Geggy Tah, Gorillaz, Hot Butter, Imani Coppola, Kelly Clarkson, The Killers, Lisa Loeb, Marc Cohn, Moxy Fruvous, Nirvana, Our Lady Peace, Pink, The Police, Queen, Rufus Wainwright, Savage Garden, Sean Paul, Sublime, They Might Be Giants...and more!
Basically I like every kind of music except hardcore rap and country. I even have some classical music on my play list (a little Moonlight Sonata, I believe)
If I don't have itunes on, I usually have the Galaxy Digital Music stations on.

Karen's Doodles, DogGone Stamps, Pixie Dust Studio, I {Heart} Copics, The Stamping Boutique, Shirleys2girls, KLM Designs
I most like listening to the Prairie Home Companion...something about Garrison Keillor's voice keeps me going even though I've listened to these CD's over and over.
But I also like to listen to our local Christian radio station. Otherwise I listen to a variety. I like country, bluegrass, rock 'n roll, folk, Christian contemporary and classical. Some of the CD's I might listen to:
Christian Contemporary
Casting Crowns
Third Day
Natalie Grant
Nicole Nordeman
Point of Grace
Chris Rice
Barlowe Girls
Darlene Scheck
Country
Emmylou Harris
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Alison Krauss and Union Station
Patty Loveless
Other
Raoul Malo
Chris Isaak
Bare Naked Ladies
Loreena McKennitt
Susan Tedeschi
Bach Violin Concertos (Yehudi Menuhin)
Luciano Pavaroti
The Three Tenors
There's more, but that's a good sampling of what I have listened to lately.
My dad listened to whatever he liked when I was growing up and he taught me to appreciate all kinds of music. He liked gospel, country, and rock 'n roll. My mom also like all sorts of music. She liked Engelbert Humperdink, Andy Williams, classical music, Abba, the Bee Gees, and the Beach Boys.
Then I married my DH and got to appreciate Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, Peter Gabriel and all sorts of blues artists. So I consider myself well rounded (er...according to my bathroom scale, in more ways than one!)
I mainly listen to rock. Southern rock, 70's & 80's rock. Some of my favs are Lynrd Skynrd, DuranDuran, ACDC, Thirty-Eight Special, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffet, and the list goes on. I listen to Christmas music during the Christmas season. My fav Christmas cd's are: Lynrd Skynrd, Manheim Steamrollers, Rudolf, and the Time Life series.
I really enjoy the music stations on cable--usually lite jazz, old standards, or even broadway tunes! My own music ranges from Enya to DuranDuran to movie soundtracks. When my hubby is home, I have to listen to silly or annoying movies on cable! (OR another endless round of James Bond, sigh.)
I think I need my own stamping room...!
I usually have the TV on.....Hmmmm maybe if I have music on and turn the computer off, I would get more stamping done. Turn off SCS, NAH, it'll never happen.

I prefer to have the tv on ... unless hubby and son have gone out, then I like to make cards in complete silence -- that is a treat when it happens, it is very seldom! I savour every moment of silence when they are gone, lol !
I most like listening to the Prairie Home Companion...something about Garrison Keillor's voice keeps me going even though I've listened to these CD's over and over.
Love PHC !!!!!!!! I can only get him on in the car though, the local stations that play the show don't seem to come in clearly in the house :( Big fan of the ketchup council & powdermilk!!!
I put the Titanic DVD on when I stamp. Don't ask me why, cuz I DON'T KNOW, but that's it for me. I know the movie so well that I don't need to "watch" it to "see" it, so maybe just the soundtrack would do it.... maybe I'll try that one of these days......
In the CD player:
Hootie and the Blowfish
Three Doors Down
Third Day
Free at Last(DH friends christian rock CD)
Annie Lennox
Blues Travelers
Simply Red
I also listen too Gwen Stefani, Shakira, the soundtrack from American Pie Wedding, Freddy Fender (who ;) ).......then I have other CD's that I burned...
Right now I'm stampin to (gulp)....Rick Springfield......(seriously!!) What can I say.....I'm an 80's girl - haaa! (Ah oh.....stalkin Fran's avatar again - BUSTED!!)

Im either listening to/watching my Harry Potter movies or listening to 101.9 The End on the radio here in Utah. The station has a great mix of alternative classics and some current alternative too!
Holy Cow! I never thought about all of you listening to music and stamping! I guess not being able to hear saves me having to find a place for a stereo on my stamp area. I could watche TV and do ANYTHING else 'cause I hafta read the captions! interesting thread. If I COULD hear, I would listen to bon jovi, enya, yanni, jim brickman, any 70's and early 80s stuff. That is what I listen to in my head.
I am really naughty I have the TV and the radio on at the same time. My ideal would be watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition and listening to Virgin Radio which is a rock station over here.
Other than that, I love listening to Talksport radio, which is a talk station mainly about soccer, which I absolutely love, and watching MTV or VH1 on TV.
I'm a woman, I can multitask, lol. Watch TV, listen to the radio and stamp. Heaven!
Location: In my Happy Place with no one bothering me....I hope!

I rarely have the radio on.... usually the TV watching the news channel (I am a major news junkie).... but I wanted to say that I would think listening to Prairie Home Companion would be great for stamping..... I may do that on the weekends now!! His voice and fun stories are very soothing!! Thanks for the great Idea!!
The Bee Gees!! I also have an assortment of disco cds that I love to hear when I'm stamping or scrapbooking. Just gets my blood flowing, I guess!
Although, lately I want to get up and dance when I hear it, so maybe I'll switch to something less danceable, so I'll get more stamping done!
I listen to audiobooks on my ipod. I'm a big reader and that way I can kill two birds with one stone.
Michele
I've done this for so many years that I've run out of titles I haven't heard from the two local libraries.
I also enjoy CDs from Solitudes which dont make me feel like dancing.

LOL! I think I'm doomed, because in my office/craft studio, my computer is my stereo. Make one card... browse SCS for two hours.... start another card... browse SCS for another hour... right?
