Wheel challenged

Ok ladies- one of my goals for my stamping this year is to master wheels- I love the idea of making my own background paper, but i have a horrible time getting the wheels to ink evenly, and to look crisp on the paper...i would love your best tips!!!

Stand up when wheeling. I find I get a better impression from the rubber if I stand while rolling the wheel across my paper. Also, start off the edge of the paper.

oooh, I need these tips too, I have tons of wheels but can't ever get them to look right....

I have only been wheeling a short time, but I am getting better every day ... practice, practice, practice! I also start off the edge of the paper, stand up and put two fingers on top of the wheel to give it a bit more pressure. I also traded someone for a wheel guide and that makes a world of difference. Hope that helps you a bit.

I had the same problem. I am left-handed so you really can't see what you are doing. I have taught myself to roll right- handed. My demo said she had problems with the wheel until she figured out (if you are rolling a big page) to start in the corner and go diagonally over the paper. It works, you can see where you need to put the roller on your next strip. Also, stand up.

I am wheel challenged also. My upline bought the wheel guide especially for me before I signed up. Still not terrific at it but if I stand when wheeling it does come out much better still need to practice doing more than one line.

You know, I've found that the wheel guide is what helps me the most....keeps the wheel from going all left of center on the paper!!! ;)

I had the same problem until I ditched the cartridges and used just the wheel over an ink pad.

I also like to stand up and remind myself to put even pressure on the top of it. It does help to start off the paper and end off the paper. I'm now a wheel freak and use them all the time. I made wrapping paper for Christmas and a recent birthday party when I realized we didn't have any.

I stand up, use 2 fingers on top of the wheel to keep the pressure even on both sides and it is more stable. Also I have found that the jumbo wheels are much easier to use.

Besides using the wheel guide, try pulling the wheel toward you rather than pushing it away from you. That helps me.

good tips- keep them coming! If you are standing and using two hands on the wheel how do you keep the wheel guide in place?

I use 2 fingers and not 2 hands. I don't use the wheel guide, but hold the paper with my other hand.
