I'm not a member--yet--and I don't think it's about money for me (otherwise I wouldn't be trying to figure out what else to buy to qualify for SAB sets in January); nor is it about how important this website has come to be for me (many days it means I can be part of an exciting, creative, generous community, other days I am totally blown away!). I think it has to do with other stuff that I need to address, so thanks for having this thread and giving me an opportunity to look deeper at some of those issues.
I think I'll join on my birthday (in less than a month), giving me a little time to ponder and anticipate.
BTW, is the membership to DD good for only 1 year or is it "lifetime," and if it is annual, do we get renewal reminders?

I am not a member. Why? I don't know... As mothers we always worry about what everyone else needs and wants. Sometimes we put ours on the backburner! I just moved to Midland under stressful conditions, and now I don't have my part-time job to conceal my lovely stamping habit with so... someday I will join.

I will join someday, maybe in Feb. for my birthday.
Like so many other moms here, my wants get pushed aside by all the needs.
I'm just amazed by all the creative people here. I don't know how you come up with all the stuff you do.

It always sounds so exciting, but it just isn't financially possible right now. I always felt so guilty hearing everyone talking about how great it was, and I knew I wasn't helping to support this marvelous site. I feel so much better now, after hearing of all the others that don't have a membership, either. At least I know I'm not a lone hold-out! I would if I could, but being a single mom has enough challenges without spending money on things like this if I don't absolutely have to right now. Someday... when I win that lottery I never play.... :?

I'm not a member, YET. A membership in the DD is getting closer to the top! I'm content with being a SCS member right now as there are so many wonderful things to see. Soon though, real soon!
I'm not a member either, but I sure love this website. It has become so addicting. If I did have a DD membership, I would probably spend even more time on here. Although, that would be a good thing, I think. My husband may not agree.
I'm not a member yet, either. I'm pretty new here & I've only recently heard about it. I'm sure there are lots of wonderful things here I haven't yet found! Everything I *have* found has been just AWESOME!
I'm new here so still wandering around trying to get acquainted! I LOVE everything I have seen. One of these days I will create something good enough to share with you guys!

i am not a member either but keep hearing how nice the site is maybe one of these good ole days, like some of the other ladys i just don't have the extra money right now.

All you have to do is give a donation of $20 (or for a limited time, you can donate in someone else's name for $15!) and you not only get access to the exclusive Dirty Dozen gallery, but you will feel warm and fuzzy that you contributed to this site.
This site isn't free. As you can see, it is the #1 stamping site, which means that it is getting lots of hits and costing BUNCHES of money to host. People aren't getting rich off of the donations, it is subsidizing some of the costs associated with running Splitcoaststampers.
Paying by Paypal is the easiest, you can send it to [email protected]. Make sure you put your user id in the comment line.
I am not sure how to donate otherwise, but I am sure someone else knows and they will elaborate and/or correct me!
I know $ is tight for many, heck, it is tight for me, but I didn't feel right that I was getting SO MUCH from SCS and not contributing. I sold a couple of my retired sets so I could justify the expense, and plus since I am a demo, it is tax deductible. DH liked that!

Wow is this thread popular..holy cow! I am not a member yet, but hope to become one sometime soon. I love this site and can't thank my mom enough for telling me about this site. Now if I could just feel better! UGH!

I am not. I just haven't been able to swing the funds. I learn so much from all of you that hopefully I will be able to round up the cash and get more ideas. I sure hope you all have a great Christmas with your familys and my prayers are with you all!!!

So I'm not a member, but it isn't b/c I can't afford it. Between work, husband, junior league obligations, alumnae association, I have not even made it through 1/2 of all the wonderful things on this site! There is so much to digest! I am overstimulated here!!! I have introduced several friends, even my mom, to SCS. It is amazing! Thanks for helping all of us who are not so creative! Merry Christmas to all!!!!
I LOVE SCS and have been addicted since I started visiting.
Joining the DD is on my to do list, but we have to finish paying my daughters' medical bills from surgery she had on 11/22. The bills are not "that" bad, but with the holidays hitting at the same time, we weren't prepared. What can ya do! But i'm a new demo and really want to gear up for this coming year into making this a true business, so i'm definantly going to join when we can finish paying off the med bills!

My problem was that I spent SOOOOO much time on the site reading and looking that I didn't have TIME to join!! Finally one day I just told myself NOWWW, and paypal'd!! I just had to give up that precious 5 minutes!! And that was tough, because I spend a lot of my stamping time surfing here instead!! ;-)

ME, ME, ME!!! I AM CRAZY ABOUT THIS SITE BUT THERE IS NO WAY I AM ABLE TO MAKE A DONATION RIGHT NOW. I AM ONLY ABLE TO WORK PART-TIME SO I JUST CAN'T SWING IT.

WOW . . . I was so embarrased when I posted a reply that I haven't been able to join yet because there weren't so many responses !!! :oops:
Now, after reading all of the responses, I feel better knowing that having to wait until January to help such a beneficial site isn't a bad thing at all !!!
I try not to CASE the samples I see, but I take the great ideas and tweak them (change layout, change colors, different stamp sets) and my customers and the people that attend my classes and participate in my stamp club are always so impressed that I get really inspired to keep trying new techniques. My DH has commented on how much I've improved. Thanks to everyone that posts ideas in the regular gallery and in 2005, I'm sure I'll be thanking the DD a lot !!!

I have a question for those of you that are members. How soon before 1/15 will I have to send in my PayPal payment in order to have access to the new gallery on 1/15 ?!?
I get paid on the 14th, but I don't know if that would be soon enough for January access !!!
