Britta-I voted for the first choice, which is the true answer but wanted to add that I don't want a picture of me on there unless I lose 30 lbs,and I would feel funny having pics of my kids up there. But I do love seeing everyone else's cute kid pics!
I like seeing everyone's avatars as I can place faces on names and it helps me to remember people better. I did have an avatar before the forum upgrade, after someone challenged us to get one, but I haven't gotten to setting it back up again.

Don;t forget you can have an image that isn't your kiddos or you-or even post a kid pic of you. I think they are just fun ways to identify the poster (Like I always think of Kymbers when I see George Clooney ;) )

I voted for the first option too, (I don't know how to) but I'm also concerned with the weirdo option. Several years ago, I posted my full name, pic and state on a harmless and fun website but after several months there I picked up a cyberstalker. It was disturbing to say the least and I had to change my email address, phone number and refuse mail from an entire state. (I hadn't posted my home address or phone - at the time I hadn't realized how easy they are to come by online.) Luckily for me, I think he was just a lonely guy and not evil (there was a site birthday list and we all wished each other happy birthday - WAY too much personal info, especially with our ages in our profiles.) Anyway, I gladly promised my DH that I wouldn't give out personal info on a message board again. Although I love 'meeting' many of you by putting faces with names, if I ever learn to do an avatar, it'll probably be an anonymous one. BTW, I love the genie!
Well, I really wanted to pick "I don't want a picture of me on-line for you weirdos to look at " for a response - because it made me giggle, but fact is I don't know how and don't want to waste my precious SCS time figuring it out!

I didn't have one for the longest time because I couldn't get the pic small enough. But Jenn (scrappinchick) helped me and now I have one of me and my hunky DH. (o.k so that is my opinion but so...)

I had the same problem getting mine small enough. Of course the little monster is much bigger now - that was taken when she was only 2 months old - she's a year now, but isn't she cute????????????

I voted for #1 also. I know how to upload the avatar, but can never get the picture small enough. I will have Dh do that for me tonight , thoughI don't know why y'all would want to see a picture of me LOL

I figured out how to do it so that's the first step.
But I also can't figure out how to get the picture small enough :( I found instructions to make it smaller using photoshop but I don't have that program. Can anyone else tell me what programs I can use to make it smaller? Thanks!
I'm sort of all the choices. I don't know how to do it, but I know the instructions are posted somewhere, but I guess i just don't care enough to get around to trying it out. Plus, if I have one, there's no way I'm sticking my face on there for people to see and I don't want to look at it myself! :-)
1st you need to find an image or picture that you want.
It can be you, a family member, pet, funny image, whatever.
If you have an idea and need help you migh try looking at Google.
They have a whole image section and I often find cute things there.
So find it and save it to your computer as a jpeg if it is a picture
The maximum size it can be is 80x80 pixels
To do that go to your program that lets you scan your images for cards that you post here.
Usually there is an option to edit the size, and you can play with it there.
If you can't, there are lots of people on here (like me) that will help you out.
You would send the image in an e-mail as an attachment (again jpeg is the easiest for me as I can't do the animated gifs on mine) and ask for it to be resized
Then it gets resized and you need to save it back to your computer.
To upload it, under user CP there is an Edit Avatar selection.
Choose custome avatar, and you would upload it from your computer by hitting the browse button. Then you browse through your saved images and double click on the one that is for your avatar.
Click save changes and VOILA you are Avatared
SO>>>>> if you need them resized I am volunteering [email protected]
I stink with technical questions, but can re-size like a fiend
I will say the easiest ones to crop and resize are those where the faces of people are close together, and I usually crop them so the faces are most clearly seen.
Hope to SEE your avatars soon.

yeah i have an avatar again... i used to have "Beaker" before the site changes cause i couldn't figure out how to get my own pictures small enough but britta resized one for me yesterday it's me and my youngest daughter thanks britta!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this, I lost mine when the changes occured and couldn'y remember how to do it again. This is my daughter, but is a little fuzzy by zooming in.
I have been online for five years now and I could never figure out the avatars and posting pics. Plus I am such a visual learner that whenever someone tried to teach me how it was always online so I actually had to read the directions which became very confusing. Then to go out and look for an avatar that I like was confusing to me too.
Uploading the pics into the gallery on this site is easy cause I can do that right from my computer and not have to find a host and go through all of that so that is nice.

This is my issue too...I have tried to post several different pics but just haven't taken the time to figure out how to size it properly. My brain starts hurting and the gallery calls me!

you don;t need to find a hosting site for our avatrs either.
I know some sites require this, but here at SCS you can upload right from a saved pic.
I did all the ones that were sent to me so far, but I am happy to do any others
Send em on over

I just haven't gotten around to putting my regular one back up. I had temporarily put one up of my MS Walk team, and then took it down when the walk was done (FYI, if your interested, we raise $720 between my sis and I!!). Just haven't put back up me and my sweetie baby boy... pathetic really, because I SO enjoy looking at other people's faces!
I have a different reason for not having a picture. I don't have a computer. What I have is a Fred Flintstone "internet appliance". I can surf the 'net, and send e-mail...that's it. There might be a way, since I can send pictures in an e-mail, but then I haven't tried that either. Some day, I will join all of you in the 21st century!
