Why would my black ink pad look like cheap purple ink?
I went to use it yesterday for distressing something I was working on and it came out 'purple-black' instead of true black! Ruined what i was working on, so naturally I wasn't impressed. This is a brand new Ink Pad so it can't be age or whatever... My demo is going to look into it when she gets back, but any idea why it would be doing this???
Huh, that's odd. The only thing I can think of is if there was some sort of manufacturing mistake and you actually got a dark purple (like Elegant Eggplant--mine looks almost black) in a Basic Black case.

I am sure it must be diluted. I know when I used the aquapainter and the blender pens with black ink you get a purplish color. So it must be diluted. I am sure SU will replace it. They are very good about that kind of thing.

Thanks ladies.. I used it for distressing and it came out purpleon the pp with my sponge.. ugh! LOL! I have a Ranger Ink pad and it's always *Black*. I guess i'll get my Demo to replace it then.
a bit off the original post, but relating to the same thing...on the newest demo start DVD, they tell you to watercolor w/ the black craft pad. I never knew this, but boy does it stay black instead of going purple. It's wonderful. So, I keep the classic for water"proof" ink and the craft pad for water"coloring". This is such a great piece of advice I got just from getting a new recruit. Who says you can't learn from a newbie?

To the OP - when I reinked my black pad the last time, it turned purple too! I posted it and I think it was JanTInk who told me it was diluted and make sure I shake up the reinker next time - it worked. So I agree with the others - your pad must have been made with diluted ink. DS should replace it for you no problem.
