Yea! My first party netted $1,724.00!!!
I have to say I was so worried about not making a quota that I almost didn't sign on to be a Demo. My upline said I would be great, but I had no idea...it could be this EASY!! I have only been exposed to SU since October. (never even heard of it before that) I just received my kit on April 21st and closed my first party on Friday. A whopping $517.00 commission because of the 30% for your first party, almost $200.00 in free merchandise, and 4 free stamps sets of my choice (2 from this catty and 2 will be from new catty) YOU CAN'T beat a deal like that! I had to share for all those skeptics...HTH Angela SU Demo and proud of it!

My first party
I did one card, one tag with mini envelope tag template and a scrapbook page. But my big order was from a woman that couldn't make it and I offered to give her a tutorial at my house. I showed her pastels, pencils, markers, the tearing edge, etc. She was able to do a make and take for each thing I showed her. I also got the templates from SU website to make the "cherry basket" only it wasn't cherries it was the loose flowers from Tags and more all over the template in pastels. then I put sparkle grass in it, and ribbon looped around the handle with tag... Then I also did the matchbook pouches. She wanted everything to make everything I had...and was grateful for the one on one tutorial. I think that did it. I might do that more often. Offer technique sessions of 1 or 2 people at a time for newbies. HTH Angela

Thanks, I needed that. I am waiting for my kit to arrive. I signed up last week. That one-on-one thing sounds great. I think I am going to do stamp club too. I have a few friends that are already interested in that!!!
Congratulations on you big party!!!!

I agree the one on one approach is great for the newbie. I was totally new to stamping and Stampin Up! last year and my demo invited me over and we dragged all her stuff out and she showed me several different things and I was hooked. I ended up going home and putting together an order for $200. Needless to say, it's been several months and dollars later and I still love it.
I'm soo jealous!! I signed up last week and haven't got my kit yet, and I'm biting at the bit. My friend that signed up with me got a welcome email, but I didn't. Is that normal?
Anyway, Congrats again!

But we can *really* learn a great deal from the "1-on-1" approach. It's a great way for a demo with small kids to reach out to other stampers with small kids; a great way to reach out to people who don't like groups; a great way to reach out to that person who says "I don't know anybody else;" someone who says "I can't make it...;" or someone who says "I wish I knew how to use_____" but is the only one who shows an interest in _____! ~ K

Congratulations!!! Happy Shopping! I plan to sign on in July (strictly as a hobby demo), but today at a CM Nat'l Scrapbook Day event, found my first customer. She needs someone local and wants to learn techniques. How easy was that?!?
Best of luck to you.

Being a recent newbie I would have loved the offer of a one on one (or one on two) with a demo.
I've got the hang of it now though and LOVE make 'n takes

My creative memories upline started offering one on one classes several years ago and she had huge success with them - Or if someone and a friend wanted to see something she would do that too and let me tell you it was great. Your customers feel more special and they tend to learn more that way as well....and in doing so they spend more!!
Congrats and best wishes for future sales!!!!

Congrats!!!! I'm not a demo, just a hostess..and I love it when my parties get up that high!!! (and I'm sure my demo does too;) LOL) happy shopping and keep up the good work!
Thats great! I think I probably am helping out my Demo lady this month. I sold some "things" I had been "just keeping for no reason" and ordered everything I wanted out of the last catolog. My order came to over $600.00 all by itself. Which I had...because I sold this stuff, and it was my own stuff.
I wouldn't tell anyone else except ***stamp crazy people*** like us. They just wouldn't understand and really add on the guilt about not putting my $ to better use.
The way I see it is, I traded the *things* I was hanging onto (that I NEVER used) for things I really have wanted.
OK I guess I still have a little guilt over it, because I suppose it could have been used to help others. Well I did it anyway....its over....and I'm excited deep down about my up coming package.

Thank you, that helps a bit and I do! I belong to a stamping group that makes cards for people who need encourgement. I also make all the Birthday cards for "all" of my family.
I guess I do feel guilty and it will just take a little time to get over it. It was lots of fun giving the order tho.
