Mine gets messy every time I make something. I'll drag out so much stuff. I'm actually relatively organized. Everything HAS a place, it just normally doesn't get put back when I use it. Then the next time I just kind of push everything to the back of the table to give myself a little bit of room. Lol, so mine is pretty much always a mess. HERE is a picture of how messy it gets;). I don't clean mine till I absolutely have to because I can't find anything.
A couple of Christmases ago, I was able to hide a 27" television, in the box, (a Christmas present) in my craft room with little difficulty. My son never noticed it. Now, that's really JUST a little scary...
My trouble with organizing is that I always make a bigger mess because I tend to pull everything out to rearrange, and then something calls me away. Now there's an even bigger mess when I get back to it next month...

You know you need to organize your craftroom when....
you are on you hands and knees looking for brads on the floor because you lost the big and I mean big brads case under the mountain of paper and supplies......LOL!
I am organized but..........every time I stamp I make a huge mess!

I was slightly organized until I received an AWESOME trade from here. The amazing SCS'er sent my 23 traded sets and then threw in 29 extra! plus all the paper, markers, crayons and accessories. Well, My stamp room has blown up, but in a good way!!! I need some cabinets or something to make more room for my goodies.
I love to orgianize, so I buy more stuff that I don't need even though I haven't used what I have, it gives me an excuse to re-organize! Also, my problem is not am working or he stands there wagging his tail to play and creating a breeze that blows all my embellishments everywhere! Otherwise he lays down exactly where I need to go to pull out a punch and he is sound asleep. You gotta luv him.
I don't know what happen to my post but it should have said my problem is not a Cat, it is my Lab. Buddy throws his tennis balls on my desk to play while I am work and so on......
In my craft room I have made myself an L-shaped workspace and across from me my hubby has an L-shaped workspace also and he always laughs at me because I always organize before I do anything and organize around him while he works on his stuff . . . actually moving his stuff around while he's working on it. Thank God he loves me!

This is EXACTLY my problem! As I type, my floor/spare bed/every surface in my office is covered with supplies! I've been waiting all week for my clear CD cases to come so I can organise everything. I'm trying, reallllllly trying to cull some unneeded supplies - this is proving a little easier than in times past because I get to order my SU! starter kit today! wooohooo!
Is it possible to fall into both categories?? I am quite organized and have a place for everything... but my desk that I stamp on is a dumping ground! It is piled high, almost always and must be cleared every time I stamp. When i'm done with a project I just start on the next and before I know it I don't have a square inch of clear space. UGH!

Fall into both categories? I don't know if we can "allow" that!
Isn't that like being a Cubs and Cardinal fan?? ;)

Right now I have a path from my desk, around to the doorway. I have had so many things that I have needed to make cards for between stamp camps and workshops, and personal needs that everything is just all over. I can see some of my desk...so that is a ray of hope!
I find organization to be over rated! If you know where EVERYTHING is in the mess you have created... then you have organized chaos! Plus a clean desk is a sign of a disturbed mind... that's what I've heard:rolleyes:
You know it is time to clean up when you can't find the xyron 250 and YOU KNOW IT IS ON THE TABLE SOMEWHERE....seriously, that thing is pretty big......ACK!!
Thank God my friends help me reorganize every month or so! I am a disaster!
I'm afraid if I ask a friend to help... I might loose her too in all the mess! I guess.... I'll keep my mess to myself... I truly LOVE my friends...
i store my ribbon in those cheap photo boxes from M's. and you think yours is bad i can finally see my desk top but still cant find my name tag for work!!

You know you needd to organize your craft room when...
1) Your best friend has never seen your craft room even though she has been begging to for almost a year!!
2) Your OH offers to let you store some things in his cinema room (currently not in use I hasten to add - we are waiting for a new projector) so as to remove your excuse about not having enough space to get things organised!
I do have to say though that recently I have been getting much much better - both of my floor to ceiling cupboards are organized now (well with the exception of 2 shelves in the second cupboard - trying to decide what's going to to 'live there') and my friend just donated 2 bookshelves to me. I've used one for my stereo and CDs (I'd outgrown my old unit and had CD cases piling up on the floor) and the other one currently has most of xmas supplies displayed on it for easy access. My biggest problem is the pile of stuff on the floor behind me which I just haven't found a home for - I think I need another cupboard but before I can put one in I'd need to move said pile of stuff! It is really bugging me now but my first craft fair of the season is tomorrow and I have such limited time to stamp it's hard to make myself deal with that rather than making some stock ...
Over here in the UK designer backing paper is a huge thing and therefore I have hundreds of 12x12 sheets in various colours and patterns. I just had to go and buy 2 paper storage folders with divided sections so I could organise my paper. They're like this but now are full to bursting LOL http://www.artandcraftworld.com/Chri...ser+Clear.html
I now have a section for each colour and my 3 top colours (pink, purple and blue) have a flowered section and an other section each. I also have my christmas and halloween papers organised. At least now I can find a type of paper I'm looking for without having to get it all out.
My peel offs are all organised in the front of one of these cases as they have little pockets at the front as well. A really ingenious idea!!
I do have my other things (stamps, cardstock, adhesives, ribbons etc) tidied away in several of the Really Useful Boxes but they're not exactly organised. I still have to get everything out to find the one stamp I'm looking for. I'm slowly building up an index folder of all my stamps organised by brand name. This also makes me realise which company I need to buy more of!! LOL I had to order some more Bellas the other day as I only had 2!! They looked lonely on the page by themselves!! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
I really envy all of you who have a craft room (however messy!!) as I don't and have to craft in our bedroom :(
You find a mouse skeleton in your craft room and you didn't even know you had mice in the house! yuck!:o
You loose an embelishment and can't tell which one it is because of all the scraps on the floor...
You decide to put away your stampin stuff but find that one more item on the stack will probably knock it all down and it will take you half a day to put it all back to rights again...
The term "glitter queen" REALLY fits because everything in your craft room has glitter in some form or another...
Okay, here's the doozy: You spend so much time talking with your splitcoast friends you NEVER have time to straighten up your craft area... ;)
Well, I did it! Cleaned up the craft room so 3 nieces and a nephew could have fun on Sunday!! Of course, then I had to clean up what they didn't get cleaned up before leaving! Still;, we had lots of fun! They LOVED the Cuttlebug!! (But who doesn't?)
A major "victory" was clearing off my physical therapy table/mat. My dad made it years ago for himself. After he passed away, I took it home because I really am supposed to do therapy exercises regularly. I did well for a while...but it is a large flat surface in my craft room. (You know what that means!) When I began to reorganize my room, everything landed there and stayed there way too long!
Now I can exercise in one area, make cards in another...just check back with me in a month! ;)

when your mother is coming to live in your craft room.
Wow! That's a biggie! At least if my mom had to move in with us, she would help create another mess in there with me...she loves scrapbooking, and is itching to get into card making!

Mine looks like the scrapbook store & the stamp store both threw up in it.
ROFL!!!! That's about what mine looks like. I was going to say, you know you need to organize your craft room when....... there is so much stuff piled on your stamping table, that you have to cut paper and stamp in your lap.
You know you need to organize your craftroom when....
you have duplicates of the same stamp sets because you didn't remember buying it the first time! Same with magazines (yes, I've purchased the same magazine twice in one month) and cuddlebug embossing folders (have a few dupes on those, too).
I did it! Finally organized my space 2 weeks ago...and it's still clean!
I have even made about 50 cards since then, and cleaned up after each project. It feels great.
My husband doesn't recognize the room...kinda like "Who are you, and what did you do with my wife?"
I always keep my work table clean in between projects. Everything else is only somewhat organized. I do need to do something about a few areas though. My paper and card stock are stored in too many different places and I sometimes have to run back and forth when looking for stuff. Unfortunately I don't have room to change things around more than they are.
This is me. I am creating a lot of space though by unmounting those stamps. Which when I finish I will have better luck organizing a bit. I have emptied 7 of the 3 drawer units from WalMart so far. I filled one cd tower and now have to find a second one. It does make me feel better about my space.

you have bins to hold stuff but the bins are almost empty & your table is so full you cannot work on it- the floor is stacked with ink pads & stamps- you can no longer safely vacuum!!!

this thread made me laugh today, as
you know you need to organize your craft room, when you drag just what you need to the kitchen table, so you can actually work on a project...
you use a nickel in place of your circle punch..
you spend 10 min. making the card, but 1/2 hour looking for all the supplies for it..
your kids and dog don't dare walk in there in case they bump, step on or find something important...
oh well, at least DH now has a nice birthday card.
that's me all he way!!!
when...
...you spend so much time looking for the supply you "need" that you don't even finish the card:(!
I broke my leg skiing three 1/2 weeks ago. Just today, able to walk alittle on my cast, I could finally clear a path to make some pages and cards. Before, I wouldn't let my husband in my craft room, and there wasn't room for my crutches to maneuver. It's not perfect, but now I can safely get to all my stuff.

Ok, it's not just me! When I made my Christmas cards I pulled out what I needed and went to the card table in the family room. I STILL haven't gotten the place back in any kind of usable condition. The stamps usually get put back but everything else...that's another story/avalanche waiting to happen. The dog likes the bare floor in there, but hasn't been able to find any floor for a while, lol.
