In your experience, what is the best card making adhesive?
I've tried glue sticks and after a few days, sometimes hours, the cards come apart. I then went to double stick tape, very expensive, especially when sometimes that doesn't work well either.
Thought about glue, but I worry it will make the paper too wet and bleed through (had that happen once).
So I ask you, the experienced card makers, what do you use?
I use the tombow permanent adhesive (like what's in SU catalog).... except that I go through a ton of it so I buy it through Viking Office and I order 2 dozen at a time... last time I bought it was 2.39 a piece..... will even stick to bazzill cs.
I really like the adhesive tech double sided tape roller that I get at Walmart. It's refillable and I get 2 refills for just under $3. It reminds me of the hermafix tape rollers but much less expsensive.
Permanent Mono hands down!!!! It's so quick and easy and it stays together BUT you must use enough of it to work properly! Scrimping to save $ does not make for permanent cards. It also does take some time on the learning curve to get the hang of how to hold it. But, to me it is so superior to the double stick tape clinging to my fingers and glue stick getting all over my card! Another tip, run your mono adhesive all the way at the edge of the CS. In fact, I line the entire edge of the piece with mono and also put a couple 'strips' diagonally across the middle, then I burnish it down with a bone folder. It gives me a clean, permanent edge every time! I'll never go back!
I have been stamping for nearly a decade and have used everything. For the last 3 years I have used only the Red Permanent Easy-Stick rollers with the duck on them in the green package (Walmart office supplies). 4 rolls for about $8.50. Nothing beats them and you only use very little because it holds so well. I have never had a card fall apart.
I use the Scotch Double Sided tape also. I think it's a good deal at Sam's Club. 4 rolls for right around $7.50. I have had bad luck with the glue sticks, so I don't use them at all. Good luck.
I like using my variotabs. The dispenser seems to last a good while and I found that our only craft store sales the refills at a decent price. That's what I have always used. The double sided tape is okay I just prefer my double-sided sticker squares.
I am also a fan of the double sided tape. I either buy it from viking or discount office supply (and they are both ebates companies so you get money back). I started stamping in 1992 and using double sided tape and those cards are still intact.

In the minority....again I love my hermafix - or dotto as it is now known - and glue dots. Not too expensive when you use the cupons. Will also use mono, but hate, hate, hate glue sticks. Kills me when I go to someone elses anything and am forced to use them. Have been known to travel with my own adhesive.....tee hee
Ouch
I use monoadhesive, double stick tape and my xyron...
basically depends on what I am working on...
Large area = double stick tape
Smaller area or layers = mono or xyron....
All I have to say about prices is VIKING!!!!!! right codes at the right time you should be able to get double stick tape rolls for less than $3 and mono adhesive for less than $2....

I use Tombo permanent Mono-Adhesive for all my cards, but I've noticed that it doesn't "hold" to the brushed metallic papers. Any hints as to what I could use for the metallics? Thanks!
Depending the Situation - I use Scotch double sided tape or else the red double liner tape which if i am sticking down something that i think might lift. I also use foam square which I absolutely love. I did not have any luck with the Tombow or like adhesives. I got thru about 3 rolls a tape a week LOL...
I like Tomboy as well. I have noticed on things I want to stay together "forever", I use tape on both pieces I am adhering...for instance...If I am making a pouch or something like that and don't have the red sticky tape (the best for that kind of thing) I find if I apply tape to both pieces that will be stuck together it works great...however, you have one shot to get them straight!!!
I also use 3M Scotch double sided tape. Hey, I have to support a local company. And as the earlier poster said, Sam's Club seems to have the best deal.
I use Pioneer Photo Memory Double Sided Mounting Tape. They have it at all the big craft stores but I get it at Hobby Lobby for $1.99. They had all the scrapbooking adhesive 30% off a few weeks ago so I stocked up.
The only bad thing about it is that once you have stuck it down its hard to move it.
Double stick tape!! I bought a tape dispenser for my desk & it is so handy with the double stick tape in it. But, I take the mono to demo with - easier!
I buy double sided tape at the dollar store and it is the best I have found. Cheap and super adhessive. I don't use it much for scrapbooking because I don't know if it's acid free.
