How fancy do you guys make your cards? I am looking all over the place for great ideas so I can impress you. I am scared mine will be too simple and you won't like them! I am a shoe box virgin! Heeelllpppp!
Terrie Lynn,
Don't be so concerned about making cards fancy. Remember they need to be made within a 10 minute deadline. I have hosted and participated in several of these events. After many hours of making cards, simple cards are often appreciated. Some of my favorite cards in October were quite simple and didn't use any special techniques.
Here are some of the cards made at the other Texas shoebox swaps, plus you can get ideas for your door prize:
Happy Friday, I think *LOL* I have been in vaca_mode, not sure what day it is LOL. Well the name tags are complete, my cards are complete, just going to pack up my baggies..., FOOD IS ORDERED, CAKE IS ORDERED YUMO, I got marble with white whipped frosting hope everyone is ok with that....I had them put "San Antonio Shoebox Swap 2009" on it, I have the schedule all worked out, and got all the paper products, SO I think I am on the right almost done track!!!!! yippee My New years resolution is STAY AHEAD OF THE GAME, don't wait and have to RUSH at the last minute!

Christy - Rae Anne took mine with her to Texas today so she'll bring it with her to the swap. Stuck in a $20 for return postage. So jealous I'm not going to be there with you all! Have fun and I can't wait to see what everyone put together!

Welcome home Libby, how was your trip? Cold....it's 85* HErE in January go figure TEXAS...
Hey Christy! Well Texas is cold again today, huh? This weather is crazy isn't it, hot then cold then hot then cold! Michigan was nice - the kids loved seeing their first snow and spending time with the grandparents. And of course opening presents! Hope you had a nice holiday!!
How 'bout them Longhorns?!
But even more exciting, I saw my name in the nametags - yea!!! You didn't kick me off the swap island yet! I used an SU! stamp - I'm not brave enough yet to defy the SU nation. However, I spent the weekend sick and in bed (or on the couch) so I haven't cut all my kits yet. But at least my sample card is done - yeah!!! I have a business trip next week so I will take all my gear with me and get my kits done while I sit in my hotel room missing my beautiful children :(
can't wait for the swap, ladies...
How hands-on are the kits expected to be? My card itself is scallop-punched on the ends but I had to punch these scallops. Should I scallop-punch all the cards or just provide the punch and include that as part of the card making experience? Even with the punching, this card will take less than ten minutes ... let me know what you think ...
Geeta - I just requested Friday off so I could take your Cupcake Class at Stamp Antonio. Please tell me you're not going to cancel!!! Do you have enough people? How many more do you need???

If it's 10 min and under with Punching Id say it's ok to leave the punching to the day of the swap for everyone to do! sounds good to me!
