There's an overwhelming amount of interest!!
What kind of date is everyone thinking? What type of place will we need?
Are we going to do some sort of swap~ or stampin' project while we're together? How can any of us help?
Sure looking forward to it...
Laurie
...Raelene...I'd have to say that 6 years ago i'd travel to Peace River (Used to live in High Level) Yes, i can admit that now...LOL
But Edmonton would be fine! Look forward to hearing more.

If it were in July, middle to end - I'll be "home" and would love to try and come. I am a transplanted Canadian living in the US, but Alberta is always home to me.
That being said, would any of you Edmonton ladies that are in the west end and are active consultants (by that I mean monthly stamp nights), could you contact me. My cousin is very interested in getting started and I'd like to find us a consultant that is really active to help her out since I'm too far away.
I would LOVE this!! Just name the date and i'll be there. Edmonton is a great spot, i'm in Calgary so not too far to drive
Please let us know about the date and place, i'll book it off from work right away!!
I'm going to one in Barrhead tomorrow morning !
P.S. hi to debbie ! see you at "S.H." 's on sunday ?
Count me in!
I am one lonely Printzess! I hardly have any customers presently (sold so much I put myself out of biz with my girls!) so let me know how to help out!
I'm a SAHM of a 2 year-old dude and I am time rich !
(but energy, just so-so ! LOL!)
So I'm just wondering if this is something that is still a go?? No one has posted on this thread for a long time and I was really looking forward to a gathering! Raelene are you still out there??? Anybody?? Hello??? Oh please oh please....okay, okay I'll stop my whining. :(
Yeah, yeah, yeah....(panting like a dog)please, oh please let there be a gathering...SU Addicts Unite!
Please PM me with any info or if I can help in any way.

Yes, I am still planning on this.....the planning is just on hold for a bit. DH recently got some news at work, and we MAY be moving. Until that is settled, I am hesitant to plan anything.....But am still willing to get help doing it....lots of you have PM'd me saying that you would help....and I am needing that.
I am thinking Edmonton, when school is done....so July or August. Does that work for all of you???? And....is the Edmonton AREA okay for all of you??? I am thinking that if we have it on the outskirts, we might get a place for cheaper. Any ideas/suggestions that you have are most welcome.
super de duper !!!
just let us know
P.S though I have some feedback about our Barrhead Retreat yyou might find helpful... you can pm me when you can handle some more information!
moving is so stressful!

Great idea about the outskirts, I have a cousin that got married just out of town at a Best Western and she went there because of the reduced costs.
I think it was Leduc, does that make sense... just south of the city...
Laurie
good luck with the excitement & upheaval of moving!
Any chance we can plan it for August instead of July? Many of us SU demos will be going down to Utah in July for Convention. I would love to attend this event but I don;t think I can swing both in July.
Hi! I just found this...I am soooo interested! I'm in Saskatchewan right now, but i am moving to Lloyd next weekend! I really should start packing..lol.
Edmonton is perfect for me. August sounds great! Can't wait to hear some more details!!
August is almost here!
what are we doing?
are we all enthusiasm, and no commitment?
who?...who is interested in coming?
what?... will it cost...what do y'all require?...what ambience?...bare bones plus camping or cheap motel.....or luxury, lobster and 4-star hotels?
(for instance, my condo-home is tiny...but there is lots of carpet to sleep on!...and I'm near to WEM too)
where?..I think Edmonton is decided...
when?....AUGUST is a big month... can we nail it down a bit?.....a weekend is assumed, I think ....but 2-day, 3-day, 4-day?...Thurs.am to Sun. pm or Fri am to Mon. pm...or just a Sat noon to Sun around three to enable travel?
.................does anyone who is in fact travelling, think a shorter weekend is worth it or is it the only way BECAUSE of the travel?
why?...WELL... because we love stampin' !!!!!...but, is this mostly social for you?...do you need 'education' and to learn new techniques?...do you need to share/teach a technique?...do you need business tips?...cards only or scrapbooking too?
...it would be a shame to leave out something crucial to every participant for lack of planning!...I personally love swaps with a face to face person but some demos are not into all the art & social stuff sidetracking from business promotion and merchandise information.
( understandably! we all need more stamp money! LOL! )
how?...
'HOW?' is the BIG question ...do y'all just want to get together for a big innaugural Meet and Greet of the SCS/SU! Alberta Inkers....with no formal organization or agenda (just pleasure and party!) and, together, plan a whole 'nother "proper" meeting, retreat, convention, for in the spring?
Are we gonna reach a mutually beneficial, superlatively satisfying, organized arrangement really, Really, REALLY soon?
no pressure, just hurry!
lotsa love,
cha,cha,cha
Char-Min!
(I'm not as bossy as all that, but I'm excited and hope to not let this opportunity slip by for lack of communication. AND ACTION!!!)

Okay, I agree with Charming, we need to pin this down!
I'll make some calls to hotels in the area tomorrow...
I think if we do a flexible start with a Friday night beginning and Sunday departure, people can come Sat only if they want.
I'd like to see some teaching things... any volunteers on doing some WOW things? If we have some ideas of what would be being done then maybe we could make up a kit list of things for each person to bring so no one person has to do a bunch of prep...
Maybe we could even do a couple of Challenges based from the inspiration of those on SCS... and I wasn't involved with the VSN but maybe there are some ideas from that?!
I'll pm Raelene and see how she made out with her move and if she has the email base of interested.
talk to you all tomorrow,
Laurie (Calgary)

Horray! I'm happy to see this getting talked about again!!! I'm in Calgary and will help with any planning needed just let me know! I'm all in for August as long as it is not the weekend of the 13th (BIL wedding)
I think it would be alot of fun to have a loose agenda with times for "mixing" and times for stamping. Really i'm up for anything that involves stamping and you fabulous ladies from SCS.
I'm game for any weekend in August as well. I live in Calgary, so I won't be able to get there until Friday evening, however, if you need help with anything, let me know.
By the way, I know most of you are Demos for SU, but can I join even though I'm not a SU Demo? I'm a new Demo from "The Other Team", but love SU just the same. In fact, most of my stamps are SU (I can't wait to see all the new stuff).

SOME IDEAS FOR THE GET TOGETHER
Okay, a bit of a hit and miss morning phoning around...
but what I've come up with as a few options:
first off, we could do something for just one day at a hotel, that could extend into the night if people needed to stay over somewhere anyway.
...or we could plan a bit of a reception Friday night and stamp like crazy throughout Sat, leave Sunday.
Depending on the people wanting to get together we can confirm a spot...
I found a couple Retreats that look wonderful for 15 to 35 people and would be very affordable... I think about $45/person. One is overlooking Pigeon Lake, another is more expensive but would include food and would hold less people... its in Cochrane.
I also have a phone call into a Camp I have Scrapped at one weekend in Caroline (the food was fabulous!)
At a hotel, I checked into the Best Western at Leduc and it would be about $30 for one day including good lunch and snacks (and internet) throughout the day. Rooms to sleep can be shared I think they are $125/night. Wetaskwin has a similar deal. Days Inn close to WEM hasn't got back to me.
Most of these only had the Aug 26/27 weekend available.
So, what I'm looking for is a real head count and type of event wanted. People's price range (you can pm me for privacy) and then we can plan something based on people's commitment.
If it doesn't fly for an all over Alberta get together, all together, maybe we could plan a few mini 'local' ones in a couple cities and discuss from there another event for the later fall or the spring.
All SCS'ers are completely welcome, this is not a Demo event but a gathering of the incredible ladies on this site (even lurkers).
start sending in the RSVP's!! (and suggestions and ideas... do non demos like Swapping~ can we do one of those?!)
Looking forward to meeting many of you soon!
smiles and laughter,
Laurie
Hi LaLa.
I've been lurking and waiting to find out more details about this gathering. I'm definately interested in attending. Can't wait to hear more about it.

I am leaving for Holidays on saturday and don't get back until the end of Aug
i would of loved to be there but can"t maybe next time so wish i could be there
Just a thought, but it seems August is a busy time for people, just wondering if into September might be better, as then most people are back from holidays. I know myself, I am quite interseted and would LOVE to attend, but doubtful that Aug. would work for me. It could still be a weekend as you mentioned, I think that is great. If August is better for others, than I guess I will just have to miss this one, but throwing the idea out there.
I'm still pretty new to this website, so I'm not sure if we have this tool available to us, but what about doing a poll to see what weekend is the most popular, and then the weekend thing can be put to rest? I know from experience this kind of thing can be very difficult to plan around everyone's schedule, and someone is bound to miss out, but at least we can get a confirmed date.
While we're at it, we could do a poll for the type of weekend we want.
If a poll is not do-able, and you're tracking this, here are my preferences:
Any weekend in August and September (ugh, I have no life)
Edmonton is fine (I live in Calgary)
I am game for any type of event, and really like the retreat idea (but I'm pretty easy to please).

Hey thanks everybody for replying so far...
Lots of Edmontonians happy with coming and some Calgarians too, with some in between... a couple not sure of their locale.
Only about 8 confirmed, and I'm leaning toward booking into a Retreat for those who'd like to stay overnight it will be real nice, and the bulk of the get together would be during the day so those who prefer to go home can.
(I'm thinking once I arrange that much time away from my kids the overnight part may as well go with it haha... and maybe in the evening we can work on our Christmas cards or any project we've been putting off)
The one place is in Thorsby, if I recollect correctly. Are there any other overnighters? The weekend that works at any place is the 26/27.
If its all just daytrippers, with the group that has responded so far... I think for fairness, I'll book someplace in Red Deer or Lacombe so both cities have fair distance.
SOmeone mentioned carpooling thats a great idea!
Swaps seem to be a yes... so who would like to run that and make up the rules? (Do we want to have non attendees that would have liked to come get to swap... and then what would be the cap)
okay,
those are my thoughts for now,
Laurie
I think the Red Deer/Lacombe area is a great idea. That way, it's in the middle.
I will be an overnighter (your comment about the kids rings true over here).
It would be great to get a carpool arrangement going for Calgarians. I have one van that usually stays with the kids, but MAY be able to steal it for the weekend.
Red Deer/Lacombe location would be great. I would carpool from Edmonton and am sure several of my friends would join me. I'd be willing to stay the night (Bed & Breakfast maybe).
August 26/27/28 would work for me, although I'd be even happier with September.
I'm sad.
Wanted in town, bus accessible, tourist friendly, gathering
... this is getting too compromised!
why not have it here, then Calgary next time, instead of all these little places?
pouting, but a valid point IMHO.

I am so in!!! I am in Calgary and can do August or September. As long as we do not move North of Edmonton, location does not matter to me. I would like to see at least a Friday night and all day Saturday. Personally - hotel would be my preference not camping etc but that's just because I like my comforts
Swaps are a definite yes and if you want instructors I can volunteer to do one.
My girlfriend would probably be in depending on the final date. Her DH travels so she can only do overnight when he is home.
Anxiously awaiting details. PM me if you want help. I am more than willing to assist.

I've Sure Changed My Tune!!!
at K-days I found a terrific lead!
the Black Cat Guest Ranch!
Check it out!
Oct- Apr weekdays $74 per person double occ.!!!
includes 3 meals, av equip and loads more!
it's not Calgary or Edmonton... but looks amazing!!!!!!
They pickup from Hinton... for those who don't drive- like me! there is Greyhound (or Via !!!)
I'm thinkin' the week of Rememberance Day Nov 6-10... that week is a write-off anyway and if I'm not done my Christmas stuff by then... it won't ever get done!
What do Y'all think ?

Hello again from me...
I have been without the internet and phone. for days! I did hear back from Rundles which is at Pigeon Lake... It was clear for us to take the 27th, and assuming still is, will verify that tomorrow. This will cost us about $30/person, and can include sleeping over... for those that mentioned wanting the Friday... we could probably arrange something but I need confirmation ASAP on that.
I thought we could plan for the afternoon of meeting and stamping and those that want can stay for a supper and depart or stay overnight to depart in the morning before noon. I thought we might like to do a bit of a potluck...
and overnighters might want to bring some sweet and savoury treats to share along with your favorite teas and coffees.
Not to dismiss your suggestions, Charming. But I think the bulk of 'attendees' are south of Edmonton...Red Deer/Lacombe makes alot of sense if nearly everyone wants to do a day thing only. Otherwise, because Raelene started this whole thing I was staying close to Edmonton for anyone coming further away, and then something like Leduc BestWestern has a great deal that a city Hotel can't compete with. The place sounds great! and there is another wonderful sounding place in Cochrane for another time, too. As well as Camp Caroline... although simple, the food is great and the area both inside and out is lovely (also a pool and hot tub for attendees to use, but a 45 person minimum) SO lots of great ideas for more get togethers!)
(I think we want to get started with a bit of a gethering before Nov... but can certainly do something again!)
So, once again, I call upon you Albertans to raise your voices in confirmation
for the Saturday meeting, August 27, 2005 at noon in Pigeon Lake.
If you have friends, sisters, relatives that were thinking of coming please get a firm count of these, as well for me.
Cost is around $30 whether we sleep over or not, supper is optional but maybe a good idea.
Swaps is a definite... who wants to manage that?!
I don't want to exclude anyone by choosing anywhere or anytime thats not good for you, but we have to say something and then can plan another!
I can't wait to meet so many of you,
please let me know for sures so I can book this place, (then I guess maybe I can get you to email $ so I can confirm and hold the place without being out the money all by myself...does that sound right?)
okay,
talk with you all tomorrow, July 28!
smiles and laughter,
Laurie
sounds great, I'll ask my dh...I don't drive so....I need to use up his only day off ...I'll have to butter him up a bit!
