Ok, I was wondering..... can we have a Texas "get to know you" thread like the SoCal one? I like seeing who people are before we all meet!!!
Can you do that, Brenda??
I can't believe I'm going to SoCal next weekend and then Austin the next! CRAZY! LOL!
Great idea MamaK. Brenda is working on a bunch of things right now so I thought I would go ahead and respond. I got permission from Jami to copy her original post inviting people to tell us more about themselves before we all meet in April.
I am no longer able to go and since there is no one left on the waiting list (ldonavan is not able to go) I thought I would open it up to anyone else that might be able to go. If you were wanting to go to this fun event and were not able to get in before, now is your chance. Please contact me at:
Everybody is all paid up, thank you all for getting the registration forms and money in so quickly. Y'all really are making this planning thing pretty easy for us.
I'm just checking in to see if anyone has backed out. I am more than willing to pay and take someone's place. Please PM me if something has come up for anyone!

I made it! Dec 2006-July 2007!
My nonstamping, weight-loss blog sort of.
I'm so incredibly bummed. I found out today that I'm not going to be able to come to Austin because we just found out DH has some work conflicts that weekend :(
But Str8Fan is going to take my place. Hope you all have a great time. Crossing my fingers that I can go next time.

Well, it is finally just one week away and we have a few friendly reminders:
1. We need your card rating if you have not pm'ed it to us. Here is what you need to know when picking your rating:
We definitely do not want to discourage challenging cards or cards with new techniques. It is great to have a mixture of simple, medium, and fancy schmancy cards. It keeps things interesting! If you designed a fancy card, we would like to put it at a table with two easy cards and maybe a medium card. This will avoid a time crunch and keep swappers from bottlenecking at that particular table. In order to do this, we would like you to give your card a rating from 1 4. (1 being the rating for a very easy card and 4 for a challenging or intricate card.) When rating your card design, keep in mind that the rating is not just for difficulty, but also for length of time.
For example: Rebecca's card isn't all that difficult because there aren't any hard techniques used. However, her card has many steps. Her card, although low in difficulty, is quite time consuming and would probably be rated as a 4. By knowing her card's rating, we will make sure to put it at a table with probably two level 1 cards and a level 2 card. This will enable us to avoid a traffic jam at the tables. On the other hand, my card has a little bit of coloring involved and a little bit of assembly required. I would probably rank mine as a 2.
If you have any questions or want some input about what your card should be rated as, please feel free to p.m. me. Please do not let the rating thing deter you from doing a "fancy" card. I really enjoyed doing some of the "fancy" cards at the last event. I really liked the variety of levels available. The rating is solely being used to help us with time issues.
2. If you are interested in having dinner on Friday night at the Oasis please go to this thread and sign up. //www.splitcoaststampers.com/fo...d.php?t=130656 We will be calling in the number of people for our reservation early this week, so sign up soon if you are interested.
Thank you ladies for making all the planning so easy for us. We really think this is going to be a ton of fun!!
Mine is all cut and ready to go. I aim to pre-stamp my backgrounds for y'all, if I have time. I finished my door prize....if you want a peek, check here!

I will not be putting mine a shoebox either. I have a little black tupperware box I used last time and worked well. As crazy as it sounds... with a family of 5, I do not have one shoebox in this house. LOL When I buy a pair, the box gets thrown away immediately. I'm not much of a packrat.... except in my stamp room. LOL

Melissa, Don't feel bad......I just placed a SU! order for my paper!
Yes, I'm paying for rushed shipping. I'll probably be doing the last minute prep on the way from Dallas to Austin, lol!!!
Oh well, could be worse. At least I finally have a design, woohoo! I'm doing a baby card. Never seem to have enough of those for all the moms-to-be that I know.
Emily, I hope I win your doorprize. Wow, it is adorable!!
So... who is still in the procrastinator race? Who has NOT done their shoebox swap card?
*raises hand*
Hello, my name is Katy, and I'm a procrastinator!! Not only is mine not cut or scored...it isn't even designed yet!! Oh well, my brand new car will be in the shop for the 5th time :-x so I'll have plenty of time tomorrow... or the next day!!

Hi everyone! I know we did a little introduction of ourselves (upline told me) and I also need to rate my card.
About me:
My name is Felicia. I live in San Antonio. My upline is Jen Stevenson. I work part time taking baby pictures at Wilford Hall Medical Center. The other half I am a stay at home mom to 2 boys Luis is 9 and Manuel is 2. I can't wait for Saturday! I have been a single mom for the last month and getting ready to be a single mom again until end of April. My husband is in the Air Force and he's been on tdy's a lot lately. He's home this week and leaves again Sunday. If I skip out a little early Saturday it's because he leaves first thing in the morning and I would like to spend a little time with him since he's been gone so much. Hope you all will understand.
I would rate my card a 4 and I rate it as probably 5 minutes to get it done.
I finally finished making my door prize and I think the person who wins it will be pretty happy! I also cut out all the cardstock for my card and now all I need to do is cut the ribbon for it. I am using one of those plastic sterilite boxes to put all my stuff in.
