My husband and I are thinking about doing the same thing only one of us working,he has good job but just pays the bills,he wants to beable to keep me home with our son,and trying to have another baby.He moved here to Cali to help his grandma with his grandpa but his mother and father are in PA,but anyways I understand what we sale our house for here will buy us a home In PA with some land and not have a house payment also funny thing is he can make $3 dollars more and hour back there..
We've done a lot of research and know that there are very affordable gorgeous homes with land but we worry about not being able to handle the humidity of the mid west / east coast. LOL!

I see this thread started about a month ago - this isn't a section I usually look at.
I live in Exeter, east of Visalia, on the way to Sequoia National Park. Anybody out this way?
I grew up in San Jose, went away to school in Washington state, found a job in Superior, Arizona - met my husband there - we eventually lived in St. Louis and Big Spring, TX before landing back here in California.
Silly me! Next time I'll look at the *first* entry. Ha!
Sometimes I act like a one-woman Chamber of Commerce. Exeter is a beautiful little town with views of the Sierra Nevada, lots of agriculture all around. And my favorite - nearly 20 murals on downtown buildings. I would encourage anyone to come see Exeter if they're on their way to Sequoia National Park (or even if they're not).
Hi Tami. I'm in Modesto. Are you part of Karen Flores downline? It's nice to see a shout out from California, it's seems people are from the Midwest or back East. The heat here is NOTHIN'. Have you ever been to Chicago or Florida in the heat? I'll take this heat over humidity & heat ANY DAY.
Hey Kim, yes I am in Karen's dl. We met at convention this year! Nice to see you on here. I'm catching this thread a little late. Its funny that its back again...I started it over a year ago. There weren't many of us from central ca on here then.
I moved to Oakdale 10 years ago from Ontario Ca,now I'm in Stockton moved here when I married my husband......
I grew up in Modesto (and then Turlock) but my grandparents had a house and some land in Valley Home just outside of Oakdale. I loved it there! I can not beleive how much it has changed!! We are in Stockton now but I drive through Oakdale on my way to my Mom's house in Waterford a couple times a month. I miss how things were here before the area started growing. :(

We are looking at getting out of here also. We are looking at Idaho Falls, ID in about 9 months. I am excited but oh so scared! I have been here most of my life but it is so cheaper to move out of this state. Like you, if we sell our house we would have no house payment there or we would have a low payment with a big ol house and lots of land. A lot more that our .13 of an acre and 1430 sq ft house here! It is so crazy!!
This is the first time I have seen this thread. I was born in Upper Lake, grew up and went to grade school and high school in Lemoore, went to college in Fresno, then got married and have lived in Nevada, Texas and now in Washington. I have relatives strewn all over California from San Diego to Santa Clara. I love California, but could never afford to live there again. Just way too expensive for me.

I noticed you're in Spokane now. I went to school in Pullman many moons ago. We almost moved up there about 10 years ago. We're getting by in the little town were in, but I look at prices elsewhere in California and get sticker shock!! I keep tellin DH we need to consider retiring in Arkansas or something.
Babz, did you go to WASU? I have never been to Pullman even tho it's not that far from here. I have only lived here for 8 years. This only thing I struggle with is the weather. I was so used to having a summer from mid May through September, but up here it doesn't get hot until the end of July and only goes through August and maybe even mid September. But after that it starts cooling down and we're in for the long haul until next July again. I am constantly bundled up in sweaters or blankets to keep warm.

Yes, I did attend WAZZU. I spent every winter explaining to natives that there are places where you don't actually live in the snow, but it's only a couple of hours away. They just didn't get it! Weather here in the Central Valley is pretty predictable compared to eastern Washington. I experienced a "endless" summer with little rain, temps in the 80s-90s, shorts every day - and one that never seemed to arrive with rain and cool days where shorts were out of the question. I think the worst was freezing fog. We definitely have fog here but it ain't so cold! Actually, when I graduated from Wazzu I went to Arizona! The desert no less. What a change that was.

In stockton now well out in Linden area,Hmm thats funny go through Vally Home when I go to my parents house in Oakdale. When I movedd to Oakdale there was nothing.I worked in one of the two grocery stores Save mart for a while!!!!!!!!!!Had to drive to Modesto for everything
I grew up in the East Bay Area and came to Sacramento in 1983 and have been here ever since, mostly in the Arden or Natomas areas. We bought a house 3 years ago, so I'll be staying put for a while. Of course, like most other CA residents, the thought of moving out of state, DOES cross our minds!
I'm also in Stockton. Grew up in Benicia and Vallejo and lived all over California as an adult. After being in Phoenix, AZ for a year and a half I moved back to California to be closer to friends and family. The first week I was here I met my husband and we've been together ever since! He was born and raised here, went to Lincoln High and Delta College. WE moved away to Orange, CA in July 2002 when I was pregnant with our daughter. Who would have thought we'd actually be homesick of Stockton! Definately not me, LOL. But we've been back since January and love it. We live near I-5 and Ben Holt in Stockton. Would love to get together with some of the other stampers in the area sometime. I sure do miss my downline! She is in Orange also.
Hugs and stamps,
Heather

I live in Taft, near Bakersfield. Is there a plan to get together?
I was raised in Solvang (near Los Olivos and Lompoc) and taught for many years in Morro Bay.

Glad to find this thread. I am in Roseville (Sacto area). Have been here for 4 years. Was raised in Marin, lived in SF for 9 years, then San Jose for 6 or 7 years. Then we moved to Roseville. Would love to meet up with other stampers from this area. Hard to come up with time though with 2 small children.
I grew up in Oakhurst too! How crazy! I keep laughing at all of you people in Sac and Stockton, calling yourself central cali! You aren't central, you're northern!
