GA Girls...It has been too long- Feb 2011 get together! ***FEB. 5th***
Hello GA Girls!!! It has been almost 3 years since we have had a shoebox swap. I think it is about darn time that we all reunite again. My friend Deb and I had a very successful swap at the Roswell Library 4 years ago so we are doing it again in Feb. We have booked our room for Feb. 5th. Deb found a beautiful hall in Roswell with plenty of room. It is on Mansell Rd. about 3 miles west of GA 400. Everybody is welcome whether you are a past alumni or a newbie!
******CHANGES ****** Since we are looking to be at around 20 swappers just bring 20 total cards and do not assemble any. We will each make one of every card that there.
Lets try to keep these to Stampin'Up if possible but it is not a requirement to participate. You can bring either full cards or any 3-D item. If you are interested in a scrapbook page raise your hand and we will see if there is enough interest in a scrapbook page swap in addition to the main swap.
Lets make it even more exciting by having the ever popular Chinese gift swap. Bring a stamping related gift, $15-20 value, all wrapped up and we will play after lunch. It is also fun if everybody brings fun little items for raffles that we can do throughout the day.
Deb and I were discussing food and we thought it would be best if everybody was on their own for lunch. There is a shopping center with at least 5 restaurants and a Kroger within walking distance. If you would like to bring a snack or candy for yourself or to share during the day, feel free. Bring your own beverages for the day too. Let's try to keep it as simple as possible so that we can focus on stamping, games and prizes!
I have a small list from a long time ago of some who participated in the past and I will send out a PM to that group. Tell your friends and spread the word. Lets make this the best GA Girl swap EVER!!!!
I will keep this #1 post as current as I can. I will be adding more instruction and all updates on this post so make sure to check it regularly. I will go ahead and start the RSVP list.

Any chance we can go with a group of non-SU shoebox swappers? I don't own but one current SU set anymore and I love participating but would prefer the non-SU if possible. Already planning for this swap, thanks for organizing!
This sounds like fun. I am getting the house ready to sell but I should be here....who buys a house in today's market, right? Of course there is that little matter that all of my stamp supplies are boxed & in a storage unit. Hmmmmmm........
Hey everybody!!!! It's so great to 'see' you all again! The swaps don't have to be SU so don't sweat it. My friend Deb is an active demonstrator so she is wanting to try to keep it that way but knows that it is not going to be 100%.
Sounds great, I think it will be a blast and when I was active, I enjoyed all swaps as I could take the ideas away and implement them into my SU business. FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
I would love to participate. Please sign me up. Do you want us to use current SU! sets? Also, I will need more information on how a shoebox swap works. I have never participated in one before.

Hi Suzanne. We are trying to get current SU swaps because many of us are SU demos but it is not necessary. We can always use the ideas for our business no matter what is used in the swap.
A shoebox swap is really easy. Basically all you do is design a card and make a sample. Then you bring all the supplies and we all rotate around the room and make each other's cards. Because we have such a large group we divide the swaps into 2 groups of 20. You will actually completely assemble 20 of your cards before you come and have 20 for the swappers to make. There would not be enough time to make all 40 cards that day so we each 'make 20 and take 20'. You leave with 40 different cards.
Clear as mud??? LOL. I know it sounds confusing but it really isn't. I will be happy to talk to you on the phone and explain it better if you need me too. It is hard to explain on here.
I look forward to meeting you. These events are so much fun. You will love it!
Let me know the date and I may be able to make it. Sorry I don't have any current SU sets, been awhile since I have bought anything SU. Would still love to take part.

I'd like to come! Put me down for a spot and I'll check with my daughter to see if she's interested. Thanks for doing this again! I really enjoyed the other gatherings. I don't care either way about the supplies...I'm not really all that active as a demonstrator, I just want to come hang with y'all!

We have a date! Feb. 5th it is. I will get specific times and directions as we get closer. I added TMDMom and WoodstockStamper to the list. It just wouldn't be the same without y'all!
I would LOVE to come. The only thing that would stop me would be if something comes up with the planning for my DD's wedding. She's not getting married until October 1st, but we've already reserved the venue and are constantly having to approve something, taste something, etc. Hopefully, though, I can mark that date on my calendar and refuse to do wedding things that day. HEHE!! THat sounds like I'm not enjoying all the planning and anticipation, but I'm having a ball!!!! The biggest problem is that the wedding will be in Franklin, TN, so when I have to make a trip to the venue, it's an all weekend deal!!!
Anyway, count me in. I also have never attended a shoebox swap, so I need all the advice I can get. THanks!!!

Horray Katy and Sam!!! You two are going to love this event. We always have so much fun! I will have more details as we get a little closer to the event. A shoe bos swap is super easy. I will send out a PM to everybody with more detailed info on how the swap will work after the holidays. I will also have info on the gift swap and door prizes. Can't wait to see everybody!

Yeah! It sounds wonderful!!! What could be better than spending a day with stampers????
BTW-I'm looking for a great demo that offers card classes and clubs around Gwinnett County. Actually I'd be happy with just a great demo!!! I've talked with the people that popped up on a search on the SU! website, but no one really seems interested in a new customer. Weird huh??? Thought about joining myself, but I missed the half price deadline. I'll have to keep my eyes out for another promotion.

Seriously thinking about it if there is still room, and trying to convince my friend Andrea(aebnl) to come also. It has been sooo long! We have always had fun and it is also very inspiring. I need something to get me stamping again. All this stuff and it goes unused, such a shame! Linda [email protected])
Hey Everybody, I just saw the conflict with the stamp show. I see that it is 2 days, the 5th and 6th. Hopefully you can make both, ours on the 5th and theirs on the 6th. I will check with Deb but it is probably too late to change our date. If we did we would try for the 19th. I hope you can all squeeze in both to make that weekend a fun two days of stamping. That's what I'm gonna do!

Just checking to see if this is still a go. With only 15 signed up I wonder if it's worthwhile? I know we always have 'no shows' who can't make it at the last minute. My stuff is still packed away in storage so getting to it will be....interesting, ;-)

It is still on. We have a few more people coming from customer stamp clubs and such and we are still 3 weeks away. Plenty of time to reel them in. I am hoping for at least 20-25 people.
I'm also checking in. I just found out that my next chemo treatment is the first week in Feb. There's no way I'll be able to get there--I'm always very sick for the two weeks after my treatment.
I'm so sad. i've never been to a shoebox swap and I REALLY wanted to come. But I REALLY want rid of this cancer too, so I guess that will have to take priority!! Sorry ladies!

Hi everybody, I just wanted to check in and let you all know that everything is still on. I just spoke to Deb and since we are looking at around 20 stampers, why don't we go ahead and do a true shoebox where we don't pre-make any cards. We will all rotate the room and make each one. This makes it easier to prepare too. Remember that we each need to bring out own advesive. If your project requires anything other than basic adhesive, like glue dots or pop dots, then you should supply those in your project. I usually bring my own scissors and paper cutter too.
I will be sending more regular updates as we get closer. The time for the event is from 10-4 with an hour for lunch. We will play our game right after lunch. I will set up a link with directions later this week.

Oh Sam, I am so sorry to hear that. We will miss you but will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you fight cancer. There will be more swaps in the future and I will certainly keep you updated.
Just checking for details like start time and about how long it will last. I have a work commitment that afternoon that I have to be back for.
Suzanne, You can come for as long as you want. Whatever projects you do not finish, you can take the stuff with you and finish at home. We will all make yours asap. You can also forgo lunch and work that extra hour. The time we have set is from 10-4. Hope this still works for you!

It should work just fine. I will need to leave no later than 3:30 as I have to drive a little over an hour.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
