Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
We have finalized our date. Maria was able to reserve the clubhouse for us for:
Saturday, August 27th
And we can have it for Sunday too (if needed).
* There will be a shoebox swap. Right now, including me there are 33 of us who have expressed interest. We'll need commited responses so that we can plan accordingly.
* There will be a MYSTERY HOSTESS at this event for those of you who are not demos. And since there are SO many demos (18 so far), we will choose a MYSTERY DEMO. Any orders placed at our gathering will be awarded to our mystery demo (the name will be picked out of a hat). The mystery hostess for our event will then get any/all hostess benefits.
* In addition to the shoebox swap, we can have a few techniques demoed. A few people have volunteered to teach a technique. We have been asked to demo WATERCOLOR CRAYONS. These will be in the 2005/2006 catalog. So, if anyone knows how to work with these, please PM me.
The techniques will be handled as follows: we will post a list of all techniques that will be featured at our get together. Along with the techniques will be items needed to do them. If you are interested in learning a particular technique, please bring the needed items (paper, adhesive, etc..) This will prevent us from having to charge for the event.
*Lodging: Most of us live in the immediate area, however there are those who will have to travel. Maria has offered her house to whoever would like to stay there. I will also be more than willing to host a few people. If you are interested in either of those options, please PM either me or Maria. If you need hotel information, also PM either of us so we can steer you in the right direction.
I'll be there. Anything you can tell me about the shoebox swap in the next 5 days, so I can prepare while I am gone would be much appreciated.

Reason: forgot to say everything
Unfortunately, I can't go on that date. Thank you so much for organizing this though. It sounds like so much fun! Please let me know if you decide to do another one.
RenHoward,
In what part of Southern Georgia are you located? I have been looking for some more stampers down here. I am in Tifton, if your close would love to get together with more girls to stamp.

Shoebox Swap repost:
For regionals we did a shoebox swap and what we did is we designed and provided all the materials for 10-15 cards which fit in a shoebox. So if you have a card with brads, ribbon and what not you would put enough for 10-15 people in there. You would also include directions for each of the cards, and a sample one w/directions would go in your shoebox for us to look at. You would pass the shoebox to your right (or left) until you've completed 10-15 (designated amount). At regionals there were about 25-30 of us at it so we just did 10, so not everyone got everybody's swap.
I hope that makes sense. We don't really pick sets to use, we just create a card to share with everyone.
Count me in too. I am another Roswell stamper and a new Demo. I am surprised by the number of Roswell/Alpharetta stampers. Thanks for suggesting and coordinating this event!
I am about 4 hours away - in Alabama. I have a SIL near Atlanta - I will call her tomorrow and see if I can crash at her house. If she says yes, I would love to come.
I was thinking that if we are stamping from morning til night on Saturday.....we just might want some food. There are restaurants around that area, about 5 miles or so, but if everyone wanted to put in some money and order in Subway Sandwiches (the HUGE ones that can be cut up) or some other type of food, there is an Atlanta Bread Company near here that can make up boxed lunches, just let me know and I will find out the details and let everyone know the cost. Just thinking if 35+ women leave for lunch in an area they are not familiar with, it may take awhile to get everyone together again. There is a stove, refridgerator and ice machine at the clubhouse in Woodstock, if some people are bringing snacks, it of course will not hold 35 boxed lunches, but would hold sodas, or other drinks for everyone. What does everyone think on the lunch issue? Maria

Sub Way sounds great for me. We could have a sign up for snacks, paper plates, etc. once you narrow down the times involved. Pizza can always be delivered for dinner for whoever is still hanging around! I'm all for keeping it easy & keeping it cheap! ;)
Subway or Atlanta Bread Co. is fine with me. That is a good idea to have stuff there. Not sure we all want to venture out. Although there is a stamping store in Woodstock. Maybe go on a field trip. Just let us know what you need.

Is anyone bringing swaps? If so, would they be current Stamping Up stamps/supplies only? I know since some are not demos, that may not be a concern for them, but I would like to know ahead of time...same question for the shoe box swaps.

Another fun ice breaker thing could be to do the 'steal the gift' game. We usually do this at Christmas with everyone bringing a 5-10 dollar gift wrapped all pretty. Everyone draws numbers & starting with #1 get to chose a gift or steal one from someone else. You can only steal an item 3 times then that item is frozen, #1 gets to pick agin last. Clear as mud? Gifts could be stamp sets you want to unload, cardstock, whatever. This could be done instead of door prizes, everyone gets something (who brings something) and if done early in the day helps everyone get to know each other.
