This swap sounds like a lot of fun. My daughter and I would like to participate. Will wait for more details but would like to get a hotel room in the vicinity of First Baptist Church unless it's far away from the swap site.
Looking forward to it!!!

Default hotels

There is a Comfort Suites off of Hwy 92 on Parkway 575 in Woodstock, not that far from First Baptist Church of Woodstock that you could stay at.

Thanks for the hotel info. The Christmas game sounds fun;need a little more of an idea of what to bring. Subway or Atlanta Bread Co.are both great. Please let us know when you know how many projects for the shoebox we need to bring. I think SU only is best for the shoebox.

Just letting you know I am still excited.

The shoebox will have to be for the amount of people coming....right?

Swap cards can be as little or as many as you want to make....right?

No, I think Shoebox will be for 10 - 15 people and then you would only do the amount of cards you put in your shoebox....I don't think I could prepare for 40 or so....

Oh. I was under the impression that the shoebox swap was for the amount of people coming, too. Let me know what is decided.

Me too. If you don't make it for the # of people coming then it will get all mixed up and not everyone will get to make cards.

We always put them on a table and you go around and make them in your own time.

If you don't finish you can take what you didn't do home.

I am taking a camera to take pictures of the ones I might not get to finish.

What a great idea Granny! I'll have to borrow a digital camera from someone to bring with me!

I also like the idea about putting them on a table and letting people go to them and make them on their own time. Less pressure to hurry up and finish. Plus if we are constantly moving around, we get to meet and talk to more people!!

I'm getting so excited! I overheard my dh talking about helping with a youth group activity that day, so I had to politely remind him that he is in charge of our three kids that day!!!!!!!!!

Default We play this a lot and call it dirty santa it is SO much fun!

When my friends and I go to a retreat we play this game, it can get long with out the freeze rule but it is so much fun, the thing is to play nice but steal as often as possible! LOL I so love to play this game. I give something I would love to receive and then I know the gift is one that anyone should love.

I would love to come if I can re-arrange another date. I have been hoping to do this for the Alabama group and have not gotten much responce yet so I would love to come to this one for now. Atlanta is about 2 hours from me and I love to travel, Anyone want to car pool? I will be there hopefully. I am working on the date change now.
Remember we have the great new sign on bonus ending August 31st also so everyone needs to push for applications to be turned in before the 31st.

This could be done instead of door prizes, everyone gets something (who brings something) and if done early in the day helps everyone get to know each other.

I like to "yard sale" idea too!

Shoebox swap rules: Bring enough for everyone.

We have an RSVP date, so we will have definitive numbers.

Also, don't forget to vote for the techniques you want to learn.

Default Shoe Box

I'm trying to see if this is correct: EVERYONE brings a shoe box, enough for every person coming? If 30 people, then 30 shoe boxes? While I was planning to bring a shoe box, I am sure there are others who were not planning to bring one. Do you think they will be upset, if everyone is having to bring one?(Assuming I am reading this right). Perhaps only those that bring boxes should swap amoung themselves. Just my thoughts. Linda

Smile shoebox thing

From what I understand about the shoebox swap, you bring one shoebox (or box big enough to hold your stuff), one sample of your card, then enough cut up paper, the ink, pens, markers, embellishments, etc. to make 30 or however many we end up, cards. So if you had a card with three sizes of cardstock and colors, and two brads, a piece of ribbon and two types of ink, and one particular stamp set, you would bring enough of each of those things so that 30 people could make the same card as your example card...like they do at regionals when they give you a plastic container with all the stuff you need to make the card they demo....this sound right to everyone else?

Smile one other thing

I think that just the people that chose to do this would be actually bringing the shoebox (not everyone may want to bring a shoebox with all the stuff and the sample). However, everyone that comes should have the opportunity to make a card from the shoebox samples that some people will be bringing, of course the more people that bring them, the more fun there is and the more card samples you can try out.

I'll bring enough for everyone or whatever the group decides.. I just want to put in a reminder that the Shoebox items are Current Stampin' Up Products only. That way the demos get things they can use for their customers, and if someone falls in love with your project they can duplicate it. No frustration of never being able to find that cute stamp picked up at a yard sale.

Thanks!

Please make sure we have enough time to order paper. I don't think I have enough on hand for 30 plus cards.

I like the idea of everyone putting the ingredients for each card for the shoebox swap in it's own baggie. That way if we run out of time we can take a picture of the finished card & grap a baggies to take home. Also there is less chance of pieces ending up MIA.

The baggie idea sounds good. Just let me know exactly what everyone decides to do. I'm pretty flexible, and I'm also a procrastinator (which means I will be madly preparing my shoebox swap stuff the night before our get together)!!

I am getting more excited every day! August 25th is my birthday, so my bday present is getting to meet all of you guys that weekend!!

Default 2 maybe stupid questions

O.k. I know we are using all SU products for the shoebox swaps, but I was wondering about using white or black paper. I don't own any SU of either of these, but if I need to buy some I will.

And do we provide the adhesive for everyone to do our project, or do we bring our own adhesive to complete everyone's project?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I have never participated in a shoebox swap, and I want to get it right!

I am wondering if it makes more sense to make the shoebox swap card fronts only (since all you SU demos will use them for display) and make the swaps full cards since they are not all SU stuff and we will actually use them!

I would vote for full cards for the shoebox because I am not a demo and will be using the cards, but I will do whatever everybody else wants to do.

oh yeah, I also think we should use our own tape for the projects because some people are tape happy and I'm not. I would rather save my tape than have to bring so many refills.

I agree. I think we should bring our own adhesive to make all of the cards (any brand we want to use), but if our project requires glue dots, dimensionals, or any other type of special adhesive, we should supply that in our box. Just me thinking!

I vote white cardstock from Georgia Pacific is okay but colors need to be SU.

So, full cards for swap and shoebox swap, bring your own adhesive and include any specialty adhesive your project requires, shoebox swap all current SU items EXCEPT the white CS can be Georgia Pacific...do we vote on these things or just chime in?

And my personal preference is that we bring enough shoebox swaps for everyone signed up. I know I'm gonna want to make ALL the fabulous projects.

If it looks like it will take too long, we can buddy up...for example Tree & I can split up and she makes two of her side of the table & I make two of my side of the table, then we share. That will save time.

Side bar...I like the white CS idea, and if demos want theirs to be all SU they can bring a few sheets of SU white and a pair of scissors...

I think it was just card fronts for the swap & full cards for the shoebox.
I plan on waiting until after our wedding to do ANYTHING so whatever y'all decide to do I'm cool with  Looking forward to getting some faces to go with the names!

Just my $.02 worth but the more people that will commit to the shoebox the more cards we will be bringing home at the end of the day.

Do we need a list for those that are willing to do the shoebox then the # of cards to be made will match accordingly?

I really do not want to make a 30 plus card shoebox and end up with only a few cards at the end of the day.

I would like to make enough for those that commit to the shoebox.

I agree with Granny. Let me know what is decided as I too need to order enough supplies. I would think that those wanting to participate in the "shoebox", would by bringing one also. Those not interested need not bring one. This will prevent us making 30+, and as Granny said only having a few to bring home. Maybe we could do a sign up list for the shoeboxes. Just my thoughts.

I also agree with Granny and Linda. Perhaps a separate sign up should be made so we will have a better idea of how many want to participate in the shoebox swap.

Okay, this is sounding more and more like a shoebox day. If we're all bringing enough for 35 - 40 shoebox swaps - that is what we'll be doing most of the day - right? Madam organizer...please give some direction so we can be prepared. Granted it will be great hanging out and making all these different cards...but I also use these kinds of things to get stuff done! Like making birthday cards, etc. to have on hand to send out. I know I'll be bringing home LOTS of cards doing shoebox swaps too. I just need lots of planning time. So is there someone who is doing the FINAL say?
