I just received an email about this event. I am interested in coming as well. However, that will depend on the actual date picked because my cousin is getting married on the weekend of the 12th. I am in Sunnyvale so I only have about a 45 min drive. Please keep me posted. thanks.
Looks like the 5th might be the best date as many seem to be unavailable on the 12th, but whatever you choose.
I'm open to anything since I haven't attended one of these before. I may be able to get two other people to join me. So there would be 3 of us. I'll eat just about anything and would be happy to bring something if needed.
Can I suggest that those of you who wander various forums, maybe put a line in your signature, mentioning this get together? The more people that see it, the better. I pretty much stay in the Demo Forum and Current Events. (Yeah, I like it hot and spicy, LOL)

Please count me in. Either date, I don't care -- I am flexible at this time.
My experience with snacks at things like this is that most of us would rather stamp than snack -- and we don't want anything that will get our fingers sticky --- just my 2 cents worth. I would keep it very simple. Bottled water is good but if not provided we can bring our own.
We will need clear instructions on what kind of basic stamping tools we will need to bring (adhesive, pop dots, scissors, etc)
I'm very excited and looking forward to it!
I just found this thread. I'm interested, I'm in Pleasanton. I do have to work 2-3 Sat. every month so I'll need to know the date so I can request it off.
Hello, I haven't been ignoring this, just contemplating the options. Delayed the room reservation because my headcount had reached 36 people and I am wondering if I should limit us to the smaller room. There will be a date conflict for some of you, no matter which date I choose. So, hang in there with me, it won't be much longer and we'll have a definite date.
Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm!

This is looking like a good group. Kathy, let us know if you need us to send you anything for a deposit, date for nonrefundable deposit, etc. etc. May is usually a busy month for everyone, so just fill us in when you know something. I hope everyone is subscribed.
It's nice to see some new posters! Welcome, kissedafrog.

I will edit my original message at the beginning of this thead to post details so you don't have to search for them and new people looking can see it up front. Thanks for being patient with me while I got this set up, and I'm sorry for those who have a scheduling conflict for that date. I went with a larger room at the community center, in fact it's the one used for craft classes.

Hi,
I tried to message you a few weeks ago I don't know if you got it. Do you need me to send you a check now to help w/ costs? I'd be happy to. Message me any details. Ann
Ann - I'm still working out the money details and will post info on how to register very soon. Cost will include light snacks, soda/water, some door prizes, misc. equipment and supplies (I need to estimate costs and attendance). My husband and I have a PayPal account and he said people could pay that way for convenience.

Chrismarra613 (Christianne) has volunteered to head up a swap (swap = premade cards you swap for other's premade cards). Shoebox projects are different, like make and takes - People bring supplies (in a shoebox) to make a card for say, 10 people. You can go around the room and make several from the shoeboxes. Ok, that is my understanding, is that what you mean?
So, Christianne is leading the swap (as I told her "first come, first to serve" heehee.) Would anyone like to volunteer to lead some other part of the event? PM me with your idea. I would like to head the shoebox event. Here is the info I got from the SoCal event on their shoebox:
A shoebox project for people - "#" to do (+ extra supplies for mess-ups). Plus 2 finished samples of the project - one to leave with the box and one for the display board. The display board samples will be sent to one of the Cards for The Troops programs. Everyone will rotate around and get to do "#" different shoebox projects. Projects can be cards, small gifts, or party favors. The project must use Stampin' Up supplies (with the exception of any embellishment not sold by SU). Current stamp sets preferred if possible.
They set it up for 10 people to do per box and only 10 minutes per project. Personally, I would prefer less quantity and more quality. So, if each shoebox was for 5 or 6 people and took about 20-30 minutes to complete, then we would all get to do 5 or 6 projects. Every half hour we could do musical chairs to mix people up and so have a chance to meet a variety of people. The 30 minutes on a project would allow time to talk to others at your table. Heehee, I'm thinking I could hand people "dance cards" at the beginning with tables assigned for the shoeboxes. I realize there will be those who come alone too, so I like the idea of mixing it up. That way, you break away from friends for half the time, but we would still have the other half of the event to be with friends (old and newly met). Hopefully, we'll all have some new friends at the end of the day. What say you?
More ideas from the SoCal event:
1) I will ask all attendees to bring a small (approx. value=$5) stamped gift. Throughout the event, names will be drawn and the gifts handed out (or let them pick fom the table?). That way, everyone will get something. Comments?
2) I will also use extra money from the attendance fees to supply some (maybe 5 to 10?) special door prizes which will be drawn as a raffle.
This party is for all of you, so what do you expect or like to see? All ideas welcome and encouraged - we are a creative bunch after all.

I love the idea of the shoe box stations. I agree quality. by then we will all have new stamp sets from the new catti. I was also thinking about doing some ATC (artist trading cards). I've never done them before. If anyone out there is trading?!?!?!
I have limited time for crafts so I want to start my swaps now. I figure the usual guidlines. Demo quality, layering minimum, SU products only, current sets only. Am I forgetting anything? I guess because we are near the end of the summer mini best not to use sets from there. Let me know if I've forgotten anything. Thanks in advance.
Annie, I recently participated in an ATC swap, first time I had ever made them. They hadn't appealed to me before, but the hostess said they could be put on card fronts or used in a scrapbook - I hadn't thought of that! It was fun working in the smaller size. So, do you want to head up a swap for that? Do you want a theme or two or leave it open? I think it would be fun as an alternative to regular card swapping. I would like this one to be open to non SU stamps as well. Splitcoast was started as a SU site, but I see so many people here use other companies as well.
Thanks for the great idea.

I would like this as well.
This is *NOT* an SU sponsored business-boosting event. It is also listed in the SCS General forums, not Demo-Only. Some of the attendees may not BE SU demos.....
I would like to be free to use any of my thousands of stamps and papers and embellishments for our get-together. I will have attended convention already, so I really don't need anymore "100% SU" cards nor will I want to do any more! LOL!
For those DEMOS who want business boosting swaps, I would suggest you check out the thread in the events forum (demo only side) for Convention Buddies that was started by AshelyAnne.... She is matching up folks. I have adopted 2 buddies to take swaps for and buy memento Mall stuff for.
I would love to exchange ATC's as well as cards. I am not associated with SU although I love most of their products. I would VOTE for all companies/products if it comes to Popular Vote.
Looking forward to coming and I will send in my $$ as as I know who/where to send it to. Paypal sounds good.

Ok, ATC swap - no vendor reserve - is officially on the activity list. You can see the ones I made with a cowboy boot in my gallery. I might make more of those or try something new. I'm keeping a spreadsheet of everyone who has responded on this thread and will add columns for who is participating in the various swaps. The registration info will be up in the next day or two. It will be good to add all the activity info on that so you can check off what you will be participating in. The swaps are not mandatory, just extra fun. Of course I will post the number of items you need to make for the swap no later than two weeks before the event as I will have to get a real headcount.
thanks ladies!

Put me down in all columns. I don't want to miss anything ! I can come early and help set up if you need but might not be able to stay late -- will let you know more as we get closer to the date. But I do want to help in someway.

I am able to attend the event on August 5, so I am still willing to coordinate one of the card swaps that will take place - as it looks like there might be more than one type of swap. I'm willing to handle a regular card-size swap (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 - full card) using any stamping supplies/embellishments. I find that although it does result in using more card stock to make a full card, that I get more use out of full cards. I don't know about everyone else, but my card sample binder is overflowing so I like to actually use the swaps that I receive.
When you register for August 5 event, please let the coordinator know that you will be participating in the "full-card/any stamps, etc." swap. Once I get an idea of how many are interested in this type of swap, we can discuss the number of cards that will need to be made.
Your thoughts and/or suggestions are always appreciated!
Hello
I actually came across this thread from another question and I am so happy I found it!
I will attend the event on the 5th and participate in all the swaps. I have just signed up to participate in a couple of trading card swaps. What is the difference in the "artist trading card" (ATC)?

ATCs are smaller than cards usually about the size of a baseball card and they dont open.
Kimberly, glad you can join us. What city are you in?
ATC's are 3.5" x 2.5". To get 10 cards out of a 8.5x11" sheet, cut 3 columns the long way - one 3.5", and two 2.5" wide. Cut the 3.5" piece into four 2.5" cards; then cut the 2.5" strips into three 3.5" cards each. That's your little canvas size, very fun. Go to the gallery and search with "ATC" for lots of examples.
