Will anyone be coming to the swap from East Aurora?? I'm in a swap and the hostess lives there. We are having a really hard time getting our swaps back and I was thinking if someone knew the hostess or could get the swaps from her and bring them to me at our swap....then I could mail these babies out. PM me if you live near her and I'll give you the hostess' name. Maybe you know her already. And, Maybe we can hook and and get these swaps out for the hostess. I belive she has little kids and they've all been sick and the swaps should have gone out a month ago.
Okay, lemme know if anyone lives in E. Aurora! Thanks, gals. Can't wait to meet you all!
Hi! I live in the far east portion of Aurora (DuPage County) and would be glad to transport the swaps - I'm sending you a PM - let me know if you get other responses but I'm sure we can make this work.

ok, prepping for our shoebox has made it onto my "To Do" list. It's 3rd on my list after prepping for a club meeting on Monday and creating my monthly swap groups cards that were due yesterday.
only...13 days to go!!! glad I'm not the only one nervous. Just have to cut and gather for the shoebox (already know what I'm gona do) and then finish up my ATC's (those are about 1/3 of the way finished). My gift swap is already done and in the box! Good luck everyone over the weekend to finish up what you need to!!!!!

My DH can hardly stand all my excitement!!!

Will there be some way to keep track of which cards we have completed? I know my brain will practically explode when I see all these awesome cards. Would it help if the stations were numbered and everyone got a little cheat sheet and they could check off the finished cards as they move around the room? Perhaps you have a system already. I'm not trying to make more work for Sarah- in fact I would be willing to help with this. Guess I should stop worrying about the little things and start working on my ATCs!

Good idea! If we could somehow number our stations we would have a way to check off what we have already done. Whatever way we get divided up we just count off 1,2,3,etc. and label our OWN stations. This way there is no extra work for anyone if we just have each person number their own spot. Keeping track would then be easy...just keep a piece of paper w/ you and write down the numbers you complete. Make sense? Whadayathink???

Okay, I have to ask because I don't want to show up and not have it. Am I supposed to make a sheet for my station with instructions to follow for making my card?

read these details
Please print your card recipe (paper, ink colors, stamps, accessories and supplies), your full Name AND your Splitcoast Name, City, State, and prefered contact information on a small piece of paper (1/4 sheet or smaller) and bring at least 40 copies. Please do not apply a label or other permanent sticker or mark to the back of your cards; this way the cards can be used.
also be sure to go back and RE-READ this post it has all the details

As far as the remembering goes...I was at the last event and we had at least 30 stations and I don't remember any problems with remembering what you had already done. And if you did by chance forget you could just take a quick glance at your cards and check. It's really not as stressful as it seems it is going to be.
I read the post and have the sheets in the kits. What I am asking is if I have to have a step by step instruction sheet posted at the station.
Last time, some people wrote out instructions, some didn't. If the card can be figured out by just looking at the sample, you probably don't need to provide instructions. If it's a more complicated card, instructions might help. Whatever you think is best!

I agree! Everyone's cards were unique, so it was pretty easy to remember which cards we had already worked on.

I agree if you can easily figure it out the design...
but I do appreciate a tip or two if I need to punch and position brad before I adhere the long piece of twill to the shorter of the two pieces of grosgrain... (you get what I mean!)

Regarding instructions at the tables; if you feel the card warrants it; fine... helpful hints are awesome. It also tends to work like this; the last person who finished the card passes the tips on to the next person to make the card... remember you will be sitting with like 5 other people at the table you are at... (8 tables of 5 in each group) and you will all be chatting and stamping together for at least a few cards before some of you are ready to move to the next tables... so these things tend to be passed on from person to person.
And as far as a numbering system.... other than labeling the lables by group; no... there will be no "system". But have no fear... keeping track shouldn't be hard; you will know when you see a card that you haven't yet made. And if you have trouble remembering stuff like that you can always write "Sarah was Here" on the placemat for that station so you remember you made that card.;) Most of the time you will go tabe to table anyways.
How are things going? I honestly have not yet began my cards? Anyone else in the same boat? I think I will be taking off a day of work next week IF I don't get them finished this weekend. Geez I feel like it's Christmas and I need a day off to get that last minute shopping done. I have a great idea but have yet to sit down and do it.
I have had some crazy weeks lately. My boss left work on March 1st to go to the ER for some pains and has been out since then and doesn't expect to return until around the 1-2nd week of April. Wow nice vacation, LOL! No really I hope she gets better soon. So I have been literally working my tush off for a couple weeks now. I am still new here so I have pretty much been thrown in the lake to sink or swim. I am trying to swim, I think I can...I think I can...LOL!
So then I decided to get a new puppy. Yeah full time working mother of three and a new puppy
Thanks Sarah for describing how the swap works. This is my first one and I had a totally different picture in my mind as to how this was going to function!
and then there were...10 Days Left!!! No working on swaps for me today. I just had a root canal and for some reason I'm just not feeling up to it. :(
ps...if we are sitting at tables and making 4 or 5 cards before moving to the next table then NO we shouldn't have a problem keepting track of what we've completed. If we were standing and going station to station that would be a different story. No biggie!

Omgosh, I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!! I haven't counted days like this in ages!
Lana, I hope you are feeling better soon! I'm with ya, girl.............had a tooth that either needed a root canal, or to be pulled, and since I couldn't afford the root canal, I had it pulled Monday afternoon............I don't know which has been worse, the pain, or the fact that I'm starving!! Just think, it'll be a distant memory by next Saturday!! (hee hee, NEXT Saturday, that sounds sooooooooooo close!!!)
