We have just arrived from Orlando and got settled into our hotel room by I-85. Raining most of the way, off and on heavy, and we lost count of how many cars we saw that had slid off the road due to hydroplaning. We took it easy, so no problems for us. It is just raining heavily here now. I can't imagine it turning to ice right now, since the water isn't standing still long enough.
In any case, be careful out there tomorrow, and see you then!

Hey there all. I just drove in to highjack Internet. Weather is fine, 35degrees, and standing water is drained in town. If anyone wants to come late, we would be fine with that.

We had a great time and each got to make 2 cards since so many people didn't show! Sad that they didn't show, but good that we got to make two cards. The weather was great!

Andi, her MIL (Sharon), Cyndi, Christine, Heidi, Jessica, Kati Gra (6 months old) and I all had a wonderful time today. I really hate that so many had to miss all the great cards and fun.:( We all decided to make 2 cards of each of the 7 cards and some of us made more for Andi to take back to DE for her fundraiser as well. We figured someone needed to make the cards and what better to do with them.
Andi's house was easy to find and ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.:-D Jessica and I discussed how much fun we had on the way home and decided we would so come back for another if she was to host another shoe box. Hint, hint, wink, wink.;) Next time we could even drive Jessica's van which would give us room for a few more people and maybe we could talk her DH into pulling a day of daddy duty as well.
I hope those who weren't feeling well are well on the way to healing; those who had some flooding will begin to dry soon; and those that we afraid of the weather - well maybe next time (if there is one here) it will be better.:-D
Andi - Again, thank you so much for hosting such a wonderful shoe box swap and for being such a gracious host. Take care and be careful going back to DE.

So sorry to have missed the event. The weather here the night before was horrible and we lost power until sometime in the wee hours of the night. It was calm and dry the next morning but we were worn out from the night before.
Andi, would you be interested in the extra cards? I really do not need 20 of the same card.

Sorry you missed as well. But I can understand about the weather. Glad to hear that you have power back on. If Andi should do this again, you really need to come. It was so much fun. Some of us did leave some of the extra cards with her for her fundraiser.

Hi Everyone,
Well, we made it home safely. The roads around DC were horrible, packed down ice on most of the highway. Slow going except when someone would race by us on the ice. Crazy! When we got well into Maryland, the roads were clear all the way home.

Glad to know you guys got home safe and sound. I think the theory of wet weather drives we discussed applies no matter where you live or have to drive. Jessica, Kati Gra and I enjoyed meeting you and your family.

Glad you made it...DC is just a horrible place to drive, I'm convinced of that!

I enjoyed meeting all you guys too! Hope to do it again... if you are ever in the Poughkeepsie area, let's stamp together!
Christine - in this case, going slow around DC was a blessing, but made for an awful long day! DH was really tense and wiped out by the time we got home.

question for you all. I am teaching greetings card class. It is one hour class. $12-15 is going to be the fee. How many would you expect to make in an hour? Several techniques will be taught.
I think a good stamper can create an average card in 20 minutes. In my stamp club, we make 2 cards and 1 3D in 2 hours, with new techniques they haven't seen, but they are not fast stampers.

I think it depends on your stampers and knowing your group. I am very fast at making things. The last time I went to a card class like this I came home with at least 6 items for the $15 fee, and we did several different techniques, but spent probably an hour and a half there all together because we did some socializing first before we got started.
