Hey ladies,

Thanks for pitching in while I've been away from the computer the last day or so.

Crystal, I did respond to your pm...I have resent my response.

More challenges would be great...please do, Crystal, Lorien, Heidi, and anyone else who would like to.

Voting on the challenges is a good idea...I had forgotten that it was done that way last time. Let's do it!

I think I prefer to keep the challenges to a set amount of time (1 1/2 hr, maybe?). Everyone is putting their supplies out and may feel like they need to keep an eye on them. There may also be space issues. I've had a hard time pinning the lady at the hotel down on exactly how many tables will fit...I plan to call her again and ask if they'll do a practice set-up.

People are still signing up and there is still space...I think we'll be able to fit 35. The current status is always reflected in the top post, so check there to see #'s.

Hope that answers everything for now...more soon!

--Debbie

OK Ladies, I've been working on designing my shoebox swap, and I have a question:

I've been very into altering wood blocks lately and I've designed this cute "mini" version, that could easily be a magnet. I would like to do this as my swap, but wasn't sure everyone would be interested in making it - kinda worried it might be too "artsy fartsy", you know what I mean?
Anyway, let me know - if people wouldn't like it, then I'll just design a card instead.

I think that is cool Heidi. I love to get ideas for things other than cards once in awhile!

I think doing something other than a card sounds like fun too! I also have been narrowing down which cards I want to do for both the swaps. I've never done this before, and have a couple questions. Can the card swap be done on a 1/2 sheet of cardstock, or should it be the 1/2 sheet scored? And on the shoebox swap, do I need to provide the glue? Thanks!

Hi Ladies,

-love the idea of a non-card item, Heidi! Go for it!

-swap cards can be any size. Shoebox swaps should include any necessary non-standard adhesives (glue dots, sticky strip, dimensionals, etc.) but each person is expected to have their own basic adhesive (mono, SNAIL, glue stick, whatever)

This may have been addressed already, but I don't recall....The shoebox swap will be full cards, correct? Will the card swaps be full cards or fronts?

I just found this thread & I am so bummed that I don't live in MI (Livonia) anymore! I would love to come & meet all you fabulous ladies that I swap with! It sounds like lots of fun! Maybe I can make it up there next time you do this, Debbie (if you do it again). I guess we will finally meet in March when I am in MI.

I don't care either way about the swaps. After I use them in my baskets for customers and grow tired of them or they retire, if I like them I just put them onto cardstock anyway to make a full card. So it would save me work if they were full cards to start with, but either way is fine by me!

It doesn't matter to me either if they are full cards or not. That was the question I tried to ask earlier, but noticed I had typed it wrong. Thanks!

As much as I hate to say this, I have bittersweet news. I won't be able to attend the get together, BUT my hubby will be home mid-Feb, so I'm going back to our home in NC to clean the house up and prepare for his arrival. I hope you all have a terrific time! Take lots of pictures!! Enjoy!

Debbie, two questions:

Regarding the swaps, can retired stamp sets be used?

I can donate prizes, do you want me to send them or can I just bring them with me on Friday?

I am getting so excited. I've already requested the weekend off. Keep fingers, toes, eyes and anything else you can crossed that the weather cooperates!!!!!!

Hi Linda,

Yes, retired is okay. Swap rules are as follows:

-make full cards
-use SU cardstock and SU sets, current or retired
-can embelllish with non-SU stuff

It is just fine to bring door prize donations with you...just let me know how many and what to expect. Thanks for donating!

Just checking on the use of retired sets with our swaps...wondering if I read it correctly...I am reading it that we can use retired sets? I just assumed that they would be current sets for demos to use as samples. Just wanted to be sure I was following it correctly.

I doubt we will end up with a whole lot of retired stuff. I know that some of the stampers coming aren't demos and there are even some stampers from other companies that are joining us. Since it isn't a SU demo only event I'm ok with it. You could still use the sample and if a customer really wanted it you could point them to something that is similar that we currently offer or since they are full cards just send it to one of your friends.

Wow, thanks so much for the very nice compliment!

I'm very happy that we can use retired sets as two of my all time favorites are retired -- Terrific Tulips and Easy Elegance. And I'm a demo!

OK.I'm still trying to verify a previous appointment, but they aren't getting back with me. Here's the story...what to you think? I was contacted in November to confirm my reservation for an all day crop I attended as a vendor, last year. It's now mid-January & the organizer hasn't confirmed a time & payment. (It's also Fbe 10) So, I really want to go to Okemos, because I'd love to meet all the ladies I chat & swap with! The all day crop would be a vendor spot, and since I can't sell anything anyway, is it really a good business venture? If I don't here from the organizer by tonight, I think I'm going to forget about it! I can't leave a date open & pending for too long, can I? I mean, if someone wanted to schedule a workshop for that day, it would be smarter to take the workshop over a crop, right?
Anybody from south South Eastern Michigan going to Okemos? I live in Southgate-29 miles south of Detroit, 32 miles north of the Ohio border, near almost all the major highways.

Is this going to be a problem?

If they are already made, no problem...have her just swap them as-is. I'm sure everyone will understand.

Dont get me wrong, I wasn't asking to have the "rules" changed, I must have missed the posts when they started. If I had seen the original question re: SU stuff/retired stuff I would have weighed in then. I just never realized it was discussed to begin with. I always assume that if an event is organized by SU demos that it means SU current, so that was my own fault for assuming.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you Crystal! This group is so laid-back, no need to feel at fault at all!!!!! I didn't see the posts either about using retired sets so that's why I asked. I am just so excited for the weekend to get together, chat, munch, and of course stamp!!!

Hi ladies,

I am getting Qs about swap numbers so thought I'd give you the current ones...

19 for shoebox swap
12 for regular swap

**Please note...these are not final numbers. I am expecting a few more registrations so they will probably go up.**

I will put final numbers here in about a week.

Okay ladies...here are final swap numbers:

Shoebox swap: 23 swappers

Regular swap: 16 swappers

May I suggest that all participants make a couple of extras, just in case?

Just want to verify the address of the Holiday Inn Express:

2187 University Park Drive
Okemos, MI

I just yahoo mapped it and it should only take me 4 1/2 hours to get there. Now take into account pit stops and how fast I drive, I'm thinking 4 - 4 1/2 should just about do it!!! Hehe!!
