I can't wait! We're 2 weeks away now. I was wondering if anyone has mentioned whether they plan on eating out for Dinner on Fri or Sat. I'm trying to plan on how much food to bring with me. Thanks! Jennifer

We'll be leave our house about 4:00 on Friday so I'm guessing we will grab something on the way in and snack the rest of the night while we stamp.
On Saturday I would love to go out to dinner. I don't get to go out w/o the kids very often.
I'm a co-leader for a fourth grade Girl Scout troop and we have a special event on Saturday. I have never been to a shoe-box swap and was really interested in this event. If anyone is having another event, or doing a a "stamp camp" in the future, please contact me! I'm in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Thanks!
I am ready to go!!! Swaps are done (;) well almost) made the hotel reservations, just need to get in the car and go. For food is this a type of potluck? Dont wanna not bring something if thats part of the deal.
Girls. . .I just found out about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How did I miss this?!?!?
I am so going to meet you all next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How exciting I am late for the swaps, so hopefully everyone who is participating has made a couple of extras because I am bringing cards anyway!!!! I live about 1 hour north of Okemos. I am trying to rally some troops to come to this with me as late sign ups, but not having the best of luck, so someone save me a seat. . . I need to make some new friends!

I plan on bringing lots of snacks, and will be glad to share with everyone. A few people have mentioned going out to eat Sat. evening. The more the merrier if anyone wants to go.
I got all my cards done! I can't wait! I've never been to one of these before, only workshops. So, this will be fun to meet everyone and get different ideas for cards. I can't believe we're so close to the date. Hope everyone has a safe trip to Lansing.
I need to get busy this weekend making my swaps and cutting shoebox stuff and getting my stamps ready for the challenges. Oh my! I need to get moving!!!
I have my stuff cut up for the shoebox, but nothing done for my regular swap...and I still need to get stuff together for the challenges I planned...I have a workshop tonight so I won't get much done till this weekend! Getting excited!
Yes...you all are correct about the food...bring any kind of snack to share. Store bought is fine. Coffee/tea/cocoa will be provided. We will go out or order in for meals. Hotel provides free breakfast for guests.

Question for those who have done this before - how do you decide what stamps and supplies to take? Basic supplies I know, but what about beyond that? When I'm stamping, I have one idea that turns into many after I try out this embellishment or switch to this color of cardstock (guess that's why my room is always such a mess!). I should probably go out and buy a nice case to carry all my supplies in too. Believe it or not, I don't own one. I don't go to crops where I need a ton of stuff. Once a week I go to my upline's house to stamp but if I forget something, she probably has what I need. Any advice would be helpful.
I've never been to anything like this before either. I've been to workshops and made cards with my demo. But never had to bring my own items. I have had a wheeled carrying case for quite awhile, but only had to use it a couple times. So, knowing how others determine what they bring would be helpful! I was thinking of bringing just enough to work on a few projects, but like Linda said - often my 'idea' starts out one way & ends another way. Oh, what a lot there could be to bring!!

Last time I knew I had swaps or whatever to work on so I brought stuff for that. I think Heidi and a few others brought quite a few stamps and let others use them. I have a lot of sets to bring for my challenges so I'll have quite a few there and if you bribe me with some M&Ms I may let you use some.
I plan to bring a lot of embellishments and a lot of colors of card stock and I guess I need a lot of ink too.
Everyone, please put your initials on your stuff so we don't get it mixed up.
I go to a crop about once a month. . .usually, I take a bit of time to think about what projects I want to work on before I pack. My staple items are as follows:
-a bit of each kind of cardstock, perhaps a few sheets of dp
-blades/cutter
-my backgrounds
-my ink
-an assortment of ribbon (I don't have a *ton* of ribbon, so usually I bring it all)
-some generic hardware that can be used on lots of cards
-My "every time I sit down" box that has sponges, blender pens, adhesive, scissors, bone folder, extra blades for my cutter, odds and ends of things
-usually one or two tools that are more specialty, maybe your brayer if you feel like it, or your crimper, your CUTTLEBUG (please tell me someone will have this so I can try it!), if you are a big embosser-maybe embossing supplies. . .
-an assortment of stamps-try and pick ones that you have been ~waiting~ to use. I love sitting down with stamps that I haven't had time to play with. . .it really feels like you are taking some time for yourself to FINALLY play with some of your new/neglected goodies.
-I'm sure there are things I am forgetting, as I have yet to pack for this. . .
One of the best things about the crop I go to, is that someone always has a set you are dying to try out! 90% of the time when I go I end up using someone elses stamps to make my projects! I always have stuff that other people don't have and I share. . .also, if you forget something or run out, you can always trade someone (if they are willing). I have swapped for a different color paper that I forgot, or whatever. . .different color hardware, etc. . .stampers are the best at that kind of thing
Hope that helps. It is kinda generic, but you never know what you are going to show up with until you pack! What am I forgetting. . . .

I'm limiting my stamp sets this year to only the ones that will fit in my rolling tote (at least thats the plan... but knowing me, I'll probably go overboard!) Anyone is welcome to use whatever of my stuff that they'd like. I must bring all my paper, cause I hate running out of anything. Bringing my ink spots, other than the colors used in my swap. And of course ribbon, brads, etc - cause I gotta have all my embellishments on hand!
Maybe I need to rent a Uhaul!
I've not done a thing on my swaps yet, I'll probably do them during open stamping on Friday night, as it looks like another busy week and weekend for me.
You all have no idea how much I need this break!!

Thank you Lorien
I hope this weather settles down before next weekend. 15" of snow so far, and still coming down heavy! My husband figures I won't go if the weather is still nasty, but I let him know that just meant he had to switch cars with me for the weekend so I could have the 4 wheel drive!

If anyone has any samples were the card was folded in a unique way, could you bring it so I can look at it? I am doing a Unique Fold class in April and could always use some new ideas....thanks!
Mine shipped, but the UPS tracking just says billing info received. I hope it comes on Friday!!! I'll bring my new goodies with me. I got way more than I should've.

HA! You always do that....you know I will end up borrowing them at some point! I can't decide what I want to order from that stinking catty! I love it all!

Ditto for me - I'm really hoping it will come by Friday, but I'm not holding my breath :(
Up to 18" of snow here now and still coming down...
Maybe the next get-together should be on some nice warm tropical isle?

I wanted to let everyone know my friend signed up with me, Laurie Thelen. She signed up for the card swap, but may not be able to do that now. She still plans on coming, but she got stuck in Grand Rapids over the weekend. And they got slammed with bad weather. She was just able to come home today and hasn't started her cards yet. She's going to try and get them done this week, but isn't sure she'll get them done. I just wanted to forwarn everyone just in case. I hope it won't be a problem. Thanks!!!

WOW! We are just frozen over here near Flint but no snow falling. I hope things will slow down so everyone can make it to Lansing safe and sound. Heidi...it won't be the same if you aren't there!!

Alright, so where is Kentwood in comparison to Okemos that you're getting all this snow? Here in Pittsburgh it's supposed to start warming up by Friday - all the way up to 25 degrees!!!!
A pre-order from the new mini?!?!?! You may have to hide them from us all or use the end of a stipple brush to stab our hands to keep us all away!
I packed my stipple brushes just in case. . . .JK
Can't wait to play this weekend! I was at a swap on Saturday (2/3) and I didn't get home until 5am. . .my dh was LESS than pleased (it was totally worth it)
Anyone planning on dropping from the shoebox swap???? I managed to finagle a spot in the regular swap, but so far no luck in the shoebox swap. . . I want in!

I'll cut an extra if you wanted to do mine. YOu may end up with a different colored brad though as I think I used the last one for the # that was posted. So, at least you can do mine and Lorien's! In exchange I want one stipple free grab at the spring mini sets!
