Not to be rude or naieve but why are you thinking there may be a problem if we have our reservations and the extra room for the "party" already reserved? I just don't understand the issue?
If we need to clear some rooms we could also share rooms in groups of 4 cause 2 people fit in each bed? Just a thought...
Aubrey, the situation over here is pretty bad. All of the hotels are full in all of the major cities in Texas from the evacuees. What Mamak is worried about is that they may not honor your reservations. Natural disasters would probably over rule here. We should be able to work out something, though. I can't see anyone living in a hotel that long. It would be way too much $$$$.

Depending on the laws in the state (I don't know about Texas), if you have a confirmed reservation, they can't legally NOT give you the room . . . the issue is that thousands of people are homeless and it might be the case that they might be kicked out of the only 'home' they have so that someone elses reservation (for pleasure) can be fulfilled. I know that some Universities have asked their fans to NOT travel to football games if it means taking a room away from a refugee.
I don't have a solution to this . . . I am traveling from out of state also but luckly am staying with relatives. I'm sure this will be worked out, it might just take some creativity.
Em and I are taking things (toiletries and clothing and food) up to a hotel tonight. They have 150 refugees and are getting another BUS of people from Baton Rouge tonight. Everything is swamped... these people have no home to go back to and the hotels are just opening up for them.
I have no idea what will happen long-term, just wanted to let you know that's what is happening now.
I am in Arkansas - about 400 miles from New Orleans - and every room in my area is full. I have heard that there are 500 people in my town of 10,000 - so it is not just major cities.
WOW- I've seen the damage etc on tv guess being stuck here in the middle of nowhere I am more cut off then I thought. Didn't even think that it would be affecting anywhere else- to be young a dumb... oh well I am sure we can work something out I can sleep anywhere I am totally flexiable!!
I have room for as many as three overnight visitors at my house - one spare twin and one spare double. I'm in Garland, about 45 minutes away from Arlington. If the hotel doesn't work out, I'd be happy to take a few people.

I was reading about the hotel situation and decided to call the hotel to see if that is going to be an issue. He assured me that for those of us who have reserved a room with a credit card, that our room is guaranteed. He said that they do have refugees, but also have rooms available for travelers.
If when I arrived, I knew they were throwing a family on the street for 2 nights, I would refuse the room and we could have a pajama party squished into as few rooms as possible. But, from what he told me, that is not going to happen.

Thanks Jody. I saw that this morning and emailed MamaK but haven't heard back. Wasn't sure if she had people on a list or what. I know one person for sure and am hoping maybe my niece will come up from San Antonio to join in the fun. I haven't read all the replies but quickly can someone tell me if the shoebox swap is cardfronts or full cards and can it be other items? Trying to decide what to do what I need to place an order for.

I am planning on driving back to the Killeen area after the festivities, if someone wants to hitch a ride I would be happy to drop anyone off along the way! So far its just me . . . .

i just checked my order status online.. and it says the 12th. it says my delivery was rescheduled and in transit.. i have never seen that on the site before .... thought it was weird. but it still gives me the 12th as delivery.

I know you (Shanon) aren't gong to believe me, but I have to back out. I can't find anyone to watch my child and dog, since my husband is out of the country working. I really hate missing this, but I can't leave them by themself. Also, I might be having surgery the first part of October and if I do my husband will be coming home that week-end so I will have to pick him up from the airport. I am working on getting a replacement, just waiting to hear back. If I do have to go to the airport, is it ok if I stop by and say Hi?!?

Oh you are too silly! I am sure it is adorable! I will promise to say that too! THese are fun because you get to try other stampers styles out! I got mine done and I think it's yuckier every time I look at it. But I am stuck with it because that's what cs I have now!
Hey all of you lucky ladies who are attending the stamp-o-rama in Arlington,
I just had to check this thread even though I'm not attending....as soon as I think I'm ok with missing this event, I start tearing up and getting emotional....I *CAN'T* believe I'm missing out on this. I've been giving myself tiny pity parties every couple of days. Yes, I'm having a pity party right now. :(

Please know that I will be thinking of ALL of you. I know that y'all will have a blast.

I am with you Melissa! I feel the same way! Everytime, I think it is okay, life goes on. I think DARN! I really was looking forward to going and meeting everyone! Sigh! I am so sad! Okay, I have to quit talking about it. It makes me want to work it out!
