So, is anyone going to convention - session 1 ?? This is my first year so i called in early and boy am i glad i did. I got in all the same classes as my upline and her upline. WAHOO!!!
Anyone else going?
I'm also registered for session 1 (Track 1). Last year was my first, and it was a blast! Can't wait for July!
I'm registered for second session. I had originally wanted to go to the first session, but because of my work and class schedule, had to go to the later session. It will be my first SU! convention--I'm so excited to go.
Hi! I am looking forward to this Saturday! I checked directions on Mapquest, and after taking Route 7 West from the Beltway, Mapquest is telling me to make a left onto Gallows Road, and then says I should make a U-turn at Wolftrap Road to stay onto Gallows Road. I can follow Mapquest, but thought I'd see other directions possibilities from the Beltway! Thanks!
Coming from MD, I would take the beltway south to Exit 7 towards Tysons Corner (not towards Falls Church). As you are getting off the exit ramp stay in the far right lane and make a right at the first turn - as you make the turn there will be a hotel on your right and a SMALL strip of shops on your left. This will bend you to the right and you will go over Route 7. After you go over Rt 7 you'll come to a light and you should go straightish/bearing to the left. Do not continue around to the right or you'll end up on Rt 7 again going in the wrong direction. You'll see a 2nd light about 50 feet in front of you. At that second light make a left onto Gallows Road and take that for about 2 minutes or so. The Fire Station is (I think) the 2nd light (well, third if you count the flashing light at the ramp to the fire station). Its on the corner of Gallows and Wolftrap. You will see the signs when you are approaching the fire station, and you'll also see the flashing light at the ramp/driveway. Make a right onto Wolftrap and a right into the parking lot. The entry doors for the swap will be in the rear of the building so park in the back of the building. Hope that helps - or at least doesn't mess you up!!

I'm so glad you're able to go, but i'm bummed that we're not in the same session.

Ah. I've got track 3....but i'm hoping to get into that SCS dinner for session 1. Are you going to go to that?? Maybe we'll bump into each other at the general sessions (or am i being too naive about the size of it? I've never been to this before).

I'm definitely going to try! I was thrilled that I got to meet Daven and Tracy at the SCS dinner in Salt Lake City last year. And the swaps were amazing!!!

I'm session 1 track 3, too! General Sessions are huge, but it's not unusual to bump into people you know. Maybe we can figure out a time/place to meet before any of the sessions. I'm coming w/ 3 of my downline (two of them are my sisters). We are also hoping to get into the SCS dinner for session 1. I've been out of the loop this week, so I need to check what's going on.
packing up right now, and I'd better mapquest, too-- it has been 14 years since I worked up in that area! Does anyone know if we include envelopes? TIA!

I just wanted to say a big thanks! to Rose-Ellen and Anna for a great event! I had so much fun today, really enjoyed meeting many of you and learned so many new things. I'm still trying to decide which new techniques I'm going to do at my next few workshops. You all are a very talented bunch of stampers.
Hopefully we can do it again before too long (I'll help coordinate something)!

I give a BIG second to your thoughts Terri. I had a blast and it was so great to finally meet you SCS'rs in person! I LOVED each and every one of the cards I made and can't wait to show them off! I feel very lucky to have been able to do this and I will def. jump at the chance to do this again. This event was so motivating.
Thanks Rose-Ellen and Anna for all the hard work you put into this event! So appreciated on my end.
Rose-Ellen, I will be watching the boards for your big news! I hope you have a semi-painless (hey, we all know it can't be totally painless) and uneventful labor!
I want to say thanks, too! It was so much fun to get together! I can't wait to show off some of these new techniques and templates, and maybe see some of you at Convention. Rose-Ellen and Anna, you rock! Everything went so smoothly, and I definitely will copy when the Stafford girls organize the next one. You thought of EVERYTHING! Kudos!

Ladies, I just wanted to say thank you for all the compliments on today's swap. I really think it turned out so well and a lot of it was due to the wonderful participants. There was a lot of behind the scenes work done early on, but it really paid off. And lots of lessons learned for next time....so YES, there will be a next time. It just has to wait until after the baby arrives and after convention.
The only thing I think I missed today was finding out who made what 3d swap items (which by the way were all amazing!!! Great job ladies). I took some picutres for my gallery, before my camera started to crap out and I want to note who made what 3d items. If you made one can you pm me and let me know which one was yours? I want to make sure you get credit. Thanks!!
Julia, DEFINATELY keep me in mind for events your having. I'd love to join you.

11:50 pm...the Williamsburg girls are back home. Well I am...Stacy's got 10 more minutes to go. THANKS Rose-Ellen and Anna for a fabulous, awesomely organized day! It was so much fun! Stacy and I hope to do one here in July and we hope some of you can make it down here!
To anyone who brought me a pre-made card for Melanie or took the time to make one today, THANK YOU! I really appreciate it and Mel will too when she gets a chance to get home and see them. Please keep her mom in your prayers...
I had such a great time yesterday. All of the cards were great. Thanks Rose-Ellen, and Anna for putting this together. I can't wait for the next one.
I have attached my calendar template that I used for the 3-D swap. Your paper needs to to be cut to 3.5 x 5. And with my printer it will pop up a message saying that it is outside the margins, do you want to print anyway. I say yes, and it comes out fine. So you may want to test yours first, and if nothing else maybe change the paper size settings and use 4 x 5.5 paper instead.
Thanks everyone for a great day.

I thought I'd post here instead of PM because I've realized I didn't say what my swap was for...hopefully everyone has figured it out! It was the beaded charms...they're scissor charms. You hook them to your scissors so if they get misplaced or "left behind", like at a swap, you'll know which ones are yours!
Thanks for the reminder Sherri! Mine was the coaster photo frame with magnetic clip. I sent them in Teacher Appreciation and everyone loved them (thanks to Mary my UL for showing me how to make them). I'll be back on the thread after Molly's birthday party Sat (and will be able to tell you how I like my BIA-- I finally get to play with it to make her party favors!).

Sherri-
I LOVE the scissor charms--I've already put them to good use!
Julia--
I just got a Bind it All earlier this week and haven't had a chance to try it out yet. That's my big project for the weekend (almost there . . .). I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Where'd you get the little magnetic clippie things? I really liked your swap!
I made double-bound "notebooks" for Molly's party favors and the girls loved them! My chance to use the Bind-It-All, which I just HAD to have. The base was 7 1/8 X 8. The left side (7 1/8 X 5 1/2) opened to a post-it note pad. Bound into the spirals was a pocket insert (pockets on both side). The front pocket had 4 note cards, the back 4 envelopes. The base featured a 50-page scratch pad (cut down to 6 1/2). The right side (7 1/8 X 4) had pages for photos of friends. I had planned on putting beaded pens on the inside beside the scratch pad but I didn't get big enough spirals, so had to stick that on the outside. I embellished with sparkly chipboard initials and some cool carribbean ribbon that I found at AC Moore. I was so glad that they liked them!

Andi, Sounds great, I'll keep you posted. I am definately going to do it again. It was so much fun to do - from the cooridnation, to the stamping, to meeting other scs'rs and I think I had the most fun gawking at the 3D swaps. Those swaps were amazing!!

Sherri-- sorry! kept forgetting to come back and post! I will try to upload pictures to my website, how about that?
Now for the big news!!
Jen (cutiepatutie) and I have been PMing tonight, and here is the call for anyone who wants to be involved in the planning for the next one to hop on board!! We're thinking July 21 here in Stafford. Rose-Ellen and Anna, please please please send on some guidelines-- you did such an awesome job, we want to measure up to your standard! We are going to have another 3-D swap, too, since the last one was fantastic! Jen will check tomorrow on space limits so we will be able to post a sign up sheet in the very near future. I'm excited!!! Convention and a shoebox in the same month!!

WOW!! What a compliment. THANK YOU!! Acutally, pretty much everything I did was posted in the first post (or updated to add to the first post). The only other things were the behind the scenes thigns like bringing in some breakfast nibbles, ordering pizza, making numbers for the shoeboxes, creating the roster (which was really helpful-at least for me since I tried to write down which person make which card and 3d item), making a ziplock bag for each attendee with stuff in it (roster, nametag, etc), some sort of way to clean the stamps on the tables, hmmm....what else??
Oh, I think if you can get people to bring a door prize that was a lot of fun!
One thing we discussed about lunch, and the reason we ordered pizza, was that when I've been to swaps where its potluck, everyone seems to bring enough to feed a army and then a lot of it gets wasted at the end when people don't want to take it all the way back home. I just thought it seemed like a better idea to have one lunch and if people couldn't eat it then they knew ahead of time that they'd need to bring something.
I think that as long as you're clear up front about what peole have to do or bring (like thier own adhesive, or bring a door prize) then they'll be all set when it comes time.
If you have any specific questions or just want to brainstorm, just let me know and we can chat about it.
Now, as for the date....Yikes, its awful close to convention, but I'm still thinking of trying to make it (how long was the commute from the fire department??) With that said, I'm SURE I'll bring the baby with me since he or she will only be a few weeks old. It'll be good preperation for him or her since they'll be heading to convention with me. Keep me posted on the sign-up dates.

YEAH!!!! Me, me, me!!! Count me in!!! I'm not able to go to Convention, so this will be a real treat! Oh, and if anyone else is coming down from MD, let me know - with these gas prices, I'd sure love to carpool!
