I didn't know there was a Joann's on Westheimer. The one out by me on 290 and the one over on Kirby are the same as the Sugar Land one - mostly cloth and very little crafting. It's disappointing.
Sure is. The nearest Hobby Lobby is wonderful (Missouri City Hwy 6 - as opposed to the Sugar Land one on Hwy 59.). It's less than a year old! I remember when it opened ... rather ... when there were alot of cars outside so I went in ... and found out they were opening in another 2 days! But for curious shoppers - they were open.
Jokingly I had complained that they were missing their "clearance" aisle but that appeared in a few weeks.
I have to stop this. I'm not getting much work done this afternoon!

So, whereabouts on Westheimer is this Joann's?

It's between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford on the south side. I used google maps to be sure. My sister used to live around there so I'd stop in when visiting her. oops. 12121 Westheimer
Has anyone been to the Stamp Asylum? Yet again, it's another place I haven't been but I've heard about.
I found Stamp Asylum today! I'm from Alvin (south of Houston) but am in Dallas for a conference. I intentionally came a few hours early to go to Scrap Bucket and Stamp Asylum. Was disappointed with Scrap Bucket, but LOVED Stamp Asylum. Not a huge store, but a fairly large collection of stamps.

Try 2 1/2 for me :( But with as much $$ as I spent there on Mother's Day, it's a good thing it's so far away

There are no other places around me to shop. There is another place called MariDawn's out on South Mason, and I go there whenever I go to Archivers since it's just one exit down.
Do you happen to have addresses for MariDawn's and Archiver's? google is giving me mixed-up information. Directions would be helpful. It looks like they're both very close to my kid brother's house.

Learn how to get there & you can come meet me & Maggie when we meet up
I can see how to get there. I guess I'd go the beltway and (ugh) I10. I'm just south of 59 off 6. I am very much a newbie to stamping. My cards up to this point are made by generating on the computer (by program and free-hand) and then dry and/or wet embossing and decorating. I'm in absolute awe of what I've seen presented in these forums! and, perhaps, a little intimidated. I'd love to meet you folks - and ask for advice :-D
Honey, just have fun with it. One good thing is when you see something you like in the gallery, favorite it & then when you can, make it but change it to fit your personality. You can use a simple layout & make a stunning piece of art because it's all you!

MariDawn is at 561 South Mason, Katy, TX. Here is a link to their website.

How about if you went up Hwy. 99 to I-10 and then go East on 10 to S. Mason?

I live in Justin, TX. It is just NW of downtown Fort Worth. So when you are watching Nascar and they are at the Texas Motor Speedway you can say I know someone that lives just across the street from that.:???: When they are here I just stay in the house. You can't get out of the subdivision. IT goes from a small town with no stoplights to over 300,000 in a week.
I am originally from Zion, Il. Then moved to San Antonio, TX, Henderson, NV, and St. Paul, MN. Now back in Texas. I truly miss the Midwest. I can't stand the cold but I would rather be up where the lilacs are. I miss the springtime and all the fall colors.
I would love to get together with anyone who is near by!!!!
My in-laws live in JUSTIN......holy cow
Where abouts do you live, because they live about 3 minutes from the speedway, you can feel the vibration.
I hadn't even heard of Archiver's before today. But I'm going to stay away from I10 until after that construction is done. The Sugar Land JoAnn's is disappointing - they've gone from a cloth/crafting store to a cloth store with a few craft items. I've heard the one on Westheimer is good - but I don't even get up there very often any more.
Then you will never make it there.
290 through Katy/Houston has been under construction since forever.
I feel for ya'll over there.
Jumping in on the Texan thread. Born & Bred Texan - been here my whole life except a year in Salt Lake City (LOOONG time ago). Here in Bryan/College Station (where our new Michael's is opening in a few weeks - YAY!)

If anyone lives near Denton, Voertman's had about 12 different Copic markers colors on clearance for $1.24. They had both the Original Copics and the Sketch. There were some pretty decent colors too. I ventured up there since it was the only store I could find that carries Copics in this area. I only had one but was an immediate convert and had to have more. So this was quite a treat for me. If you don't know where Voertman's is, it's directly across from UNT at 1314 Hickory Street. It's a textbook and art supplies store.

Denton's about 30 minutes away from me but that price is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

TFS! I have a friend who lives up there and she's going to go check it out for me today.

Well, we can all get together and stamp together or swap cards or create projects for each other..., but sounds like Mschoener is brewing up something soon.

well I just moved here to San Antonio in September.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. Moved to Kansas City, MO and met my husband. Since them we have moved to Tucson, AZ and Las Vegas, NV then back to Kansas City, but on the KS side this time and now we are in San Antonio, TX.
I know no one here, would love to meet up with some gals at some point. I'm on the Northwest side of town just off the 1604 and Shaenfield.
Hey, Texas Gals. I just ran into this funny quiz called "How Texas Are You". It made me laugh so hard! You can click more than one answer in each category. Unfortunately, I am only considered 20% Texan----which I suppose is good since I was born in England! Check it out:
Hi Laura! I'm in San Antonio, too! I'm on the NE side, though. Jenn Balcer is further NE than I am (actually she's in a different city). I'm not sure where the other SA SCS'ers are. PM me anytime if you'd like!
