I mailed my registration/check today - got waylaid with the kids schedule this week, they had school start Wed and then went Thurs and then off Friday - craziness!
Looking forward to this -- how many people have signed up? Will there be a list posted? Sounds like such fun!
Add me to the list of curious. I would like to know as soon as you can get the info out since it is 3 weeks away and I need time to make swaps, shoebox, etc. and in case I need to order something - Thanks!
Oh dear... looks like I missed the registration for this.... and I just mapquested and you're only about an hour from my new home!!! ACK! But I'd like to stay involved for another event, and also to see how you're going to run the swaps and all. I was pretty actively involved with a bunch of Central NY SCS gatherings, but just moved to Mass a few weeks ago.
Does anybody in this area do other, smaller or informal get togethers to stamp anytime? I'd really love to find a group of "stamp friends" like I had in NY.
Just a quick hijack of this thread... not sure where you all are, but someone is trying to organize a shoebox swap nearer to Boston. Join us if you can!! (link is in my siggy)
I haven't received my check back also. I am getting kind of worried. I have email Julie and no response. I am glad I am not the only one.
Thanks could you let me know if you hear anything about returning our checks.

Sounds great, but if it is the October 31 one, Um, that is really a busy day for me, being Halloween and all! We do trick or treating with the kids that night - the day of is usually busy as well and I would not make it back in time if I went down to Boston, as much as I would love to - I used to live in Mass and have a friend down near Medford.
Hi, No none of the ones who signed up in my group have received their checks back yet?
any ideas when we might get them? Thanks
Wow, so I guess there were quite a few that did sign up, then- that's too bad. I am still upset, I have hugely bad scrapbooking/stamping event karma, whenever I sign up for something it either gets canceled or I can't go because DH has to work or the kids get sick. I am just giving up, I guess!
FYI to all of you that signed up for the 3rd, it looks like it wasn't "canceled" at all - they just changed the date to the 10th and, it looks like, "uninvited" those of us that haven't gotten our checks back - I was looking for another contact person and checked out this person's website that was setting up the day long event which I thought sounded fun, and was pretty shocked to find this up on her site:
To those of you who originally planned to host the Oct 3 event.
Be responsible. Treat people with respect.
If you wanted to cancel the event why use subterfuge that you lacked enough attendees and then emailed that you would return our uncashed checks--which we are all still looking for by the way.
The SU event that you have planned at the same locale and for $45.00 the following weekend makes me wonder why you didn't have the courtesy to contact the people who originally signed up for the 3rd.
Perhaps SCS can set up a paypal type account where attendees don't get the fuzzy end of the lollipop when hostesses pull a bait and switch. The hostesses account would not be credited until the event took place.
If we don't hear anything, do you think there is a way to get our money back. I think this is rotten to probably use our money for someone else's benefit.
I want mine & the three other people I invited back.
There have been a number of inquiries that I need to respond to.
First, this event has been cancelled, not postponed or rescheduled.
Second, the uncashed checks have all been mailed. Half were postmarked yesterday and the other half were postmarked today. There was a delay on my part - Julie - on getting these checks returned. The delay was not caused by or a result of the other event organizers, Diane, Katherine, Kathy, or Kim.
Please contact me if there are any further questions.
Ladies,
I'd like to address a few things here if I may.
First off, this event absolutely was canceled. The event on the 10th is my own personal SU! business event. This event was planned completely separate from the SCS event we had tried to coordinate. No demonstrators are allowed to post 'for profit' events on SCS and that is why you weren't notified of it. It's completely against the rules. My business event is a completely different venue than the non-profit event... a completely different day and like I said, for profit and therefore I'm not allowed to advertise here which is completely understandable. Of course I'd love to invite you all!
Second, your checks. I too was shocked to learn your checks weren't returned to you. Admittedly, once the event was canceled (and even before since I knew we had a small attendee amount) I stopped checking this thread. I just found out about the checks yesterday with the PM from jbalcer. Today I heard from stampkat that justjulier was addressing the envelopes today to send back your checks. If you haven't received your check by the end of the week please email me and I will drive down this weekend to retrieve the checks.
Third, I can understand everyone being upset with the lack of communication and for that I'm truly sorry. It is a terrible feeling hearing 'nothing'. I should've kept up with this thread and what was going on and should not have assumed your checks were returned and the like without double checking. I apologize to all of you.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any other concerns/questions.

Your check was definitely not cashed, you should see that in your bank statement, and certainly wasn't used for anything else or anyone else's benefit. I'm not sure why you would think this.

Hopefully my post a minute ago answers your questions below. My event isn't $45, it's $90 for the full day, and a for profit event. Again, please read my other post for more info on that. This was certainly not a case of bait and switch and I'm truly sorry that the events (or lack of) have lead you to have these feelings.

I would like to apologize as well. I was getting frustrated with not hearing back and made an assumption when I saw the other event scheduled. Well my father always told me what happens when you assume! My sincere apologies.
