IC27 - Abstract Art (Inspiration Challenge)
Inspiration Challenge #27 (Don't forget to add IC27 to your keywords please!)
Today's inspiration comes from an abstract art piece - First Rose by Vicky Brago-Mitchell. I know this one may be a little "out there", but you can be inspired by just the colors, don't feel you need to recreate the piece.
Feel free to translate the inspiration item into a card, a scrapbook page, or another project. Be inspired by the colors, layout, theme, or anything else -- this is up to your own interpretation!
Hi Karen and thanks for posting ! I beat those yackety yacks here, lol. That is a very cool abstract you have as the example. I don't know where or how you find these but you are perfect at it. See you in the morning with my inspirational take on this challenge ! Goodnight to all you chatty stalkers, luv ya and sweet dreams too !
Just thought I'd check before bed so I could dream on this and Wow those are fantatic colors! I will sleep in peace tonight! I'll create tomorrow! Thanks Karen!
Looks like a fun one again Karen!! Have an idea, just hope it pans out!
Yeah, I bet you are going to bed Joni (lol)--I heard you tearing through the house heading for your stampin table!!

Wow, that is an awesome piece of artwork. Wish I could see it IRL. I'm too tired to start stamping now, but I have an idea, if I can make it work. Thanks, Karen. Hope I can get it done in the morning. DS has H.S. graduation tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks for another great challenge Karen. I'm going to sleep on this one. Be back to play tomorrow, I mean later today!

As soon as I saw the inspiration, I thought Roses in Winter. Alas, I do not have that set, so I guess I'm going to have to work a little harder to come up with something. So we'll see what the day brings! Thanks for the real challenge.
Now, you know this abstract is screaming "Roses In Winter" and polished stone! Cool challenge - no whining for me today...I loved these colors! (sorry it scanned crooked) Thanks for looking.

An idea that may help - create a background with swirls of color. It doesn't have to be in an obvious flower shape (this is an abstract art piece don't forget ).
Isn't it interesting that many of us saw RIW in this abstract piece?! It was the first thing that jumped into my head, too. I may try and play later...............
ooooooook, never done the Sat challenge before.. dh just left for the day, so I just might have to play with this one;)
well, I got one done... not what I started out in my head...but this is what I ended up with! lol... thanks Karen for the lovely 'colors' in this abstract challenge. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I got mine done and I really like it, much better than the first one I did and didn't finish, but I will. I've noticed I do that a lot for this challenge!
Thank you Karen, you make me think and use supplies too!
The very first thing I saw in the artwork was Roses in Winter but I don't have that set but I do have roses - so here is...
Thanks for another great challenge, Karen. The piece made me think of mirrors, reflections and metal. The camera flash didn't much care for the metallic inks though. Metallica

Well, I thought I had posted this earlier -- but I must have gotten interrupted because I don't see it. If this is here twice -- sorry, Alzheimers must be setting in! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Joni, you aren't alone. I spent most of the morning messing around with this challenge too. My profile says that I am a "Pearl-Expert", but that's not true. I have pearls, but haven't learned much about using them. I wanted a Pearl-Ex card today, so I spent most of the morning playing with them and learning the different pearl-ex techniques.
I'm not entirely happy with my card, but it turned out better than I thought it was going to. There is a big glitter swirl but it doesn't show well in the scan.
This card/challenge was hard for me because I am definitely NOT a pink person. Right now I feel like I've got pink all over me. I need to go do something in earth elements to get the "pink" off--LOL!
Well, the idea I had last night did not work at all with the stamps that I have, so I went in a completely different direction. Here's my roses in pink.
Yippee, I got to participate this week!!! It's easy when the piece GRABS you like this one did! Thanks for doing this Karen! Here's my card. Thanks for looking!

Well Karen....I tried to join in for the first time today....but I just can't make myself like what I came up with!!! Thanks for the challenge....maybe next time I'll post! (seriously....I'm not posting this....I do NOT like anything about it!!!)
This is my first time making a card for an IC challenge. How exciting! And my DH just helped me figure out how to do the link thing - woo-hoo! Here it is!
This challenge got me to use 2 sets I have had sitting on the shelf mocking me My son looked at the inspiration and said it reminded him of jewels so I added some of those too.
Thanks for looking,
Well.... I am giving you ALL a standing ovation!! EVERYONE'S take on this challenge is WONDERFUL (going to comment after I post). I just wanted to tell you that I did try..... but only wound up wasting my WHOLE morning yesterday. (well... maybe 'wasting' is the wrong word... I still enjoyed 'playing'... just got frustrated I didn't like anything I did!) I was gonna post a picture of the half baked idea I had.... but chickened out!! It was just too horrid to share! I just wanted you to know I did try!!
Now.... off to your galleries, I go!!
Have a wonderful day, girls!!
My first Inspiration Challenge -- thanks Karen! I really, really wanted to use Roses in Winter, but forced myself to go in another direction. I LOVED the colors in the inspiration piece and ended up doing the Baby Wipe Technique to capture the colors that stood out to me. I also added a little Iridescent Ice EP to the flower for some glitter. Here's my card.

Ok, I made my card late Saturday night. The stickles weren't dry so I couldn't scan it until Sunday - but no uploading!! I went with the general color/floral theme....I like these colors together - very bright and cheery!
