Oh that's a great idea! My desk is an L-shaped built-in and there's a HUGE unused triangle of space in the corner behind where my laptop sits, plus the basket's tall enough that I'll be able to reach it easily when the laptop is closed...and my two-tiered fruit basket has just been ticking me off lately... looks too empty when it's filled with the amount of fruit I buy. Well I'm sure I won't have THAT problem once it's filled with stamping goodies!!
Seriously, I am leaving the computer right now to go wash that basket off and make this happen immediately. thanks for sharing

Hung horizontally, each section makes a nice little shelf that holds several loose stamps. They're just 1.5 or 2" deep, so they don't stick out a lot, and the stamps that are too tall can sit on top. You can screw right through the mesh into the wall and they aren't very heavy at all, so if you can hit one stud, it should be secure enough. I don't remember for sure, but I think they were around $12, but just three of them hold ALL of my homeless stamps. This is definitely my current favorite creative storage solution. I love being able to see what I have. Before I came up with this, I had them all in clear plastic jars (bruschetta, salsa, and risotto jars) on my shelves and I always forgot what I had. Thanks for all the great ideas!

I love Harbor Freight. I have two scrapper pals and the last time we got together one of them had these boxes. Of course after we were done scrappin the other pal and I headed right to Harbor Freight to get our own, Each time my husband goes I go. They have tons of containers, metal engraving alphabet stamps, tiny files (I had bought the cute pink handled set at a scrapbook store 5 for $10 and I found a set at Harbor Freight that had gray handels a total of 12 tiny files for only 2.99.)
Great store.

I need to subscribe to this thread. I am so UNORGANiZED.

My only brilliant storage idea has been to store my unmounted stamps on mirrors. I now have 9 of varying sizes. The large full length mirror is for Christmas. I have smaller ones for postal, cats, flowers, etc. I pick them up at garage sales. It brightens up the room with reflected light, and for verse stamps, I have a mirror right at my fingertips to be able to read the stamp reversed in the reflection.

What a crak-up - I clicked on the link to see how someone else was using these great boxes and what a surprise, it was a picture from my own gallery!

I don't have a lot of money to organize, like a lot of you. What are some creative ways that you store your CU roller stamps?

If you can get your hands on some old shallow drawers (Know anyone redoing their kitchen? Or maybe find a rickety old desk or dresser at a flea mkt or garage sale.) Drill holes on each side and run dowels thru to use as shelves. I have two drawers hanging on the wall. (I took the bottoms out so my wall color shows thru and hung them with the drawer front on top so it kind of looks like a shadow box) One has two pair of dowels--one dowel near the front, the other near the back--and I can stack 2 or 3 rows of ink pads, 5 or 6 in each stack, on each dowel shelf. The other drawer has one dowel near the bottom and another about halfway up. I set my larger punches on the dowels. The front of the drawer works like a shelf on top, too. You might be able to space the dowels just right to hold your roller stamps.

Love the idea of the mirror - especially for deciphering the verses!

OK--I've never tried this before, but with my DH coaching, maybe we were able to post the pics. The drawers I used are only about 4" deep. I tried to get a good angle on the one with the ink pads to show the dowels. Hope it works and helps!

I have put my mounted stamps on the 3 tier spice shelves in the closet. They look pretty neat. Walmart has mini plastic crates. Each one will hold 4 Cricut Cart/box and they stack together. They will also hold unmounted stamp sets that are in CD cases. the clear ones are $1 in with all the storage containers. They also have some colored ones in the school supply section. I keep my scrap paper in 6 drawers. seperated by family colors and then specialty paper. When the 12X10 drawer is full than I have to use some of it up. Helps keep scraps manageable.

This is an excellent suggestion. I have mine in an Jan-Dec accordian file that I relabeled with the color names which has been working quite well, but I can't see how much I have of what color. I'm going to move my scraps to clear drawers today! There are so many good suggestions!

Off to Wal-mart . . . TFS!

Default Brads and Ribbon storage.

I love the Craft Mate storage containers. I first bought the "bag" that had 6 containers and quickly decided to buy more. I find them in Walmart in the section near beading. What I LOVE about these is that they lock so you don't have to constantly be picking up itty bitty brads and eyelets.

They look like the pill organizers (7 days, AM and PM) except that there is a button on the side you have to push to unlock the container. I keep all my small embellishments by color (work in progress!!). So that when I am working on Valentine items, I grab the pink and red and white CraftMates. Since they are small, I can keep a stack of them on the table and lose very little workspace. I usually keep, brads, eyelets, charms, of a color together. If I have a few small flowers or other embellishments that would get lost otherwise, they go in here too.

I used to keep things together by type (eyelets, brads, buttons, etc) but then figured out that I am usually looking for things in a color scheme, and this works out well for me. (Still working on the re-organizing, but it is worth it.) How often do you grab your container(s) of brads and say... hmm what color should I use?? Then grab the eyelets and do the same thing. Much easier to just grab the green pack or the metallics packs.

Except for wired ribbons, wide ribbons or whole reels (longer than a few yards), I bought old fashioned clothespins like grandma used at the dollar store. I slip one end of the ribbon in the slot and start winding up and down the clothespin until the ribbon is all off the spool. I secure it with a glass head pin. It also works for a lot of fibers and trims.

It is so much faster to grab a bag of pink ribbon clothespins and look for the right pink than go through a lot of reels. And on the clothespins they stay unwrinkled. Right now I am storing similar colors together in sandwich bags and putting the bags in a large zip bag. Eventually, I want to place them in mason jars on a shelf by color as I think that would look pretty.

Default small item storage...

I know this thread has been here a long while and I don't know if my idea will help anyone out, but here is what I do for all my little embellishments...

I use the stackable pill containers (the round ones that you can get at most dollar stores) to sort all the items by color and type.
Then, as I don't have much shelf space, I used spice holder clips that come with double sided tape on the back of them and attached them to the inside of my craft cupboard. This way they don't take up much space and the pill containers fit perfectly into the clips.
Now I can see all the embellishments and pull out the stack of whatever it is I need and replace it quickly (gotta love quick clean ups!). I bought the spice holder clips on line at Regal but I think that I've seen them at places like Walmart as well.

As for ribbon storage... here's a really cheap idea...
I found a shoe rack that has two plastic ends and 4 metal rods that are staggered (to hold the shoes visible) These rods slip in and out of the plastic ends easily. I stood it on the one end and slid all my ribbon (still on their rolls) onto the rods... attached the other end and it's done... I can see all my ribbon and although it's about 3' high (right now... the rods expand if I need more room...hehehe) the shelf space is only about a 6 x 12" space. I keep it right by my work table and now I never have to go looking for ribbon again.

Hope these ideas help someone out there.
Great thread!

Lynn, I haven't read all the way through but I found these:

http://www.craftmates.com/canvas.html

and use the Ezy Snappin' Organizer Petite cases: one for my brads, one for my eyelets. I labeled them on the side so I know which is which - the thing I love about them, is if you drop the case, nothing ever spills out, nor do they spill into the other compartments. And since they are book sized, fit easily just about anywhere.

Couple things I have done.

Shoe holders hung on the wall with clear pockets and punches in pockets.

Spice rack that rotates with clear jars and use for buttons, brads, dewdrops, eyelets, etc. etc.
