I am fanatic about organizing my paper and using every last little scrap, but I am stumped! I have a great system for my solid colour 8x10 card stock (hanging file folders with coloured labels for easy viewing) but what do I do with my patterned paper?
Any ideas? This would be the paper that you only have maybe 1 or 2 sheets. What does everyone do with their scraps?
I create a separate folder for my PP. Here is how I label mine:
Blue CS
Blue PP
Black CS
Black PP
Etc., etc., etc.
Now, if it's a color that I don't have much of either, I will combine the folder (Black CS/PP). I hope that makes sense. I use my scraps ALL of the time. I have yet to fill up my box because I use so much. You can see more details here.

I'm interested too, as PP can be so tricky-especially if it's double sided paper, or paper that could be put in more than one category (equal parts of green and blue for instance).

Thanks for your tip! What do you do with say a slab or double sided paper as was by MikiBee? Do you seperate out all the papers in a slab by colour?
Half the fun of crafting is the organizing :p
I have my full sheets of cardstock on shelves in plain view. All of my scraps- cardstock AND PP- go into hanging file folders that I labeled by color. I check my scrap file first before cutting a new piece of cardstock or PP to use on a project. Works for me!

Ditto! Exactly how I do it. My full pieces of CS are sorted by color, and my full pieces of PP are sorted by company/line.

What about organizing punched/cut out shapes, etc? I decided to go ahead and cut out some shapes with my cricut, like scalloped circles, ovals, labels, etc. Someone posted on another board about how to make your own "embellishments" by using small scalloped circles & hearts and then adding ribbons and buttons. They were so cute that I decided to do this so I'd have some ready to use on cards when I'm in a hurry. Now I need to figure out how to organize them. I thought about using the accordion style coupon holder for shapes. Do you think that would work? When I "embellish" them, I will probably put them in some jars my mom gave me. She keeps all the jars from candles that she buys at Walmart. She even keeps the little plastic cover that comes on them.
I am currently using the stamp storage clam shells.
My cardstock is kept in hanging files.
I use mainly SU papers so in front of each "color family" there is a large clam shell for that family's scraps (hence, eliminating the need to guess and figure out "which" yellow or green the paper is )
Of course, a fair amount of my scraps need to go to my DD's busy box.
Also, regarding die scraps, as I've posted in other threads,my smaller dies are kept in the same containers. Makes it very easy to find the leftover pieces from previous Bigshot passes in an organized way.
I agree, organizing all of this is challenging but very fun.
When I open my DSP, I only cut a "slot" at the top to open and then pull out sheets. I then just store my scraps back in the plastic with the rest of my DSP. To be honest, I don't think I have ever used up all of a pack of DSP (I just realized this). But, when I get to a point where there are just small scraps left, I will just put it in a separate hanging file with my discontinued DSP (I file this by "season," and categories: antique, male, female, baby, birthday), still in their original cellophane with opening at top. I also have my discontinued Scrap Kits in these hanging files in the same categories. I have two files for my 12" x 12" stuff (current and discontinued).

That's a really great idea! I think I'm going to give this a try. For the DSP I already have, I think I'll buy some of those envelopes they sell for 12x12 papers. Thanks for the tip!
I store all scraps in mini-Iris carts by color (pink, blue, etc.) It doesn't matter to me if it's plain or patterend. I find great inspiration by browsing through the scraps.
I have started storing my DSP in 12x12 page protectors...They stand up still and I can keep all of the paper pack together...I have found that I use much more of my paper this way as they are clear and I can see what I have...Here are a couple of photos...
