:confused:How do you store your punches? I have seen the Ikea Rail System but we don't have an Ikea and for some reason they won't ship in this area. Right now I have them in a wooden box, but I really dont' like this. I am thinking that one of you clever SCS has devised a knock-off of the Ikea system. Please share ideas. Thanks!
I store mine in an over-the-door shoe pocket thingy. The pockets are nice and deep so you can fit two punches in a pocket too. AND its good for reducing clutter, hiding it behind a door. Good luck. :-)
I went to my local dollar store and bought a standard curtain rod and a " deep" curtain rod... mounted them together and there I store my 'most used' punches. For the others I have an over the door shoe pouch...
God bless

I have about 150 punches of various styles and sizes. What has worked for me is to keep them in drawers of an Iris Cart (check out Staples.com to see what this is if you're not familiar with this). I have seperate drawers for each type of punch. So one drawer for squares, another for circles, another for flowers, etc. All together I have 8 of these drawers. My punches are always easy to find and easy to keep organized because they have a home. The only type of punches I don't keep in a drawer are the hand punches (like a hole punch). Those I hang on a pegboard in easy reach since I use them frequently.
once upon a time i had my husband build me an "ribbon spool rack" and i loved this, and hated the dust... ( I had my wide ribbon spools on it) and anyways i then removed all the ribbon from it and hung some of the lever type punches on the rods and it hangs inside the closet and underneath it is an 6 drawer iris cart (filled with punches) and then there are a couple more drawers under the table i stamp at with the borders in them and the back of the closet door has an ( i think they dont make these anymore but, you could get lucky at a yard sale or ebay) is an Crop in Style punch holder ( these have clear pockets to put punches into that kind of resemble those over the door shoe bag holders....
gotta watch those punchies i think they breed in the dark...
(I'm so glad someone invented those nestibilitie dies) ;)
I use an over the door shoe holder for my punches but I have a problem. My holder is just about the full length of the door. Every time I open or close the door the holder "crashes" against the door. I know it needs to be fastened down somehow but I don't know how to do this. I rent so that leaves out a lot of "permanent" type solutions. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this?

Glue Dots????? big ones....they hold everything else...or self stick velcro might work and you can take the sticky off the door when/if you move .

Hi Liz
you could try mounting command hooks upside down and punching a hole in the bottom of the shoe holder . The command hooks come off cleanly by pulling on the tab. The glue dots may mar the door depending on what it is finished with. (I used to work in restoration)

I have my SU punches mounted on cheap towel racks from Ace Hardware. They attach to the side of my workbench. I also have punches in Iris carts. I may move my MS punches to an over the door shoe hanger next.

I have THREE racks of 8 Ikea Bygel rails with baskets on the bottom. Plus TWO Iris carts full of punches...and I am going to have to ask my sweet hubby for a couple more of the Ikea bygel rails racks with all the new punches I see coming on the sneak peaks for CHA..blessings..
I had the same problem with the banging against the door, and like you am a renter. I just took a piece of ribbon the same color as the door (so it would be so obvious) and tied the whole kit-n-kaboodle to the door.
Can someone please tell me if the MS punches fit onto the IKEA rails?
I have 3 iris carts FULL and would like to store those that I use most on the rails...if they fit. TIA
BTW/ I make a punch out of each punch and glue it to the drawer it's stored in. Makes finding what a want a breeze.

Yes, the fit just fine. Both the border punches and the regular punches.
i used to keep punches in a large rectangular basket but it got very heavy- i just got an over the door organizer this week & so far i love it-thanks for the tips!

Uh, I don't know if I'd use the glue dots. I used those big glue dots on a wall one time and yes, it held great, but when I went to take the thing down, it ripped the sheet rock like you wouldn't believe. Such a mess to repair. Of course, I realize that sheet rock is different to a door, what with it being basically paper on the outside. But I figured it had enough layers of paint on it to not be a problem, and was wrong in a huge way! Those big glue dots have some MAJOR holding abilities!

I do not have alot of wall space in my crafting room so I have an iris cart with 8 drawers
I keep my punches in these. It sits directly next to my chair and close at hand.
If you need to put something on the wall so it stays but you can remove it later, get some of the 3M removable mounting foam thingies. I wanted to mount a coat hook on the back of the bathroom door (a heavy ceramic one) but didn't want to drill holes in the door, so I put one in each corner. Holds like iron! Just get the heavy-duty ones.
Paper_therapy,
Thanks for the tip about putting the punched image on the drawer, that's brilliant. Tips like this is why I love SCS. It's simple, cheap and effective.
Thanks again,

Well I like the IKEA Bygel rail system but I do not have an IKEA in Colorado. On a recent trip to California I persuaded my husband to take me to an IKEA and I bought 5 rails. I put them in my carry on luggage because I did not have any checked bags. Long story short I guess I looked like a terrorist because they wouldn't let me through security with them. It was a huge ordeal so I told them just to throw them away. :( SO if any happy stamper wants to buy me some more (of course I would reimburse you for them and shipping and give you something else I have) and ship them to me (IKEA won't ship those for some reason) I would be more than delighted (forever indebted would be an understatement).
Let me know.
Rebecca

What do your do with your new flat SU punches if you use the towel racks for all of your other punches? Mine are currently laying on my table until I can figure this out. They are in the way! (such a horrible problem! LOL!)

The flat SU punches fit PERFECTLY in the baskets that Ikea sells to hang off the Bygel rods. 6 border punches fit in one basket.
I have mine in one of those plastic drawer units. I don't like a clutterd environment, so I like a lot of my stuff in drawers or in the 3 closets I have. Besides, I don't want my hubby to see how many I have! He'd freak!
