When we built our house, we have all of our main living on one level and made a full cape upstairs that was unfinished until I needed to clear out the third bedroom to make room for a baby that should be here in about 7 weeks. I am in love with being so organized!!! So this is a 20x56 area total with a full bath, 3 walk-in closets and plenty of open space. Major downfall of the location of it within my home is that there are 2 flights of stairs to get to it. Currently both are inside, but I designed my house so that when we get steps built outside, that there will be a very limited area of my home that people have to walk through to get to it.
CS storage...I got the stamp cubes for 12x12 that were advertised on this site like crazy a few months back. I had heavy duty plastic organizers that I got at staples that are stackable so you can go as high as you want for 8-1/2 x 11. I got some white wire racks in both sizes that I have my DSP on 12x12 and disc. cs or the smaller. I have scraps of disc. colored in baggies hanging on a rail as well as my rub-ons so I can see what i have. All are stored in a walk in closet.
Stamp set storage...I used to stack them on a book case and you could only see the ends, but if you didn't know the name, you didn't know what you were looking at. I took an entire wall in a walk-in closet and installed rubbermaid brand fastrak shelving. I used shoe brackets so shelves would be at an angle to allow viewing of the images of the sets. I installed the shelves upside down, so there is a lip preventing the sets from falling off. I do stack two high on each shelf, but intend to sort them and rearrange so similar sets are stacked together. So you only have to move one to see what's underneath. With all the sets sliding forward, there is a little amount of wasted space behind the ones in shorter boxes, but then you can't really tell how ununiform storage boxes are. I LOVE IT! I don't have a ton of the new SU clear mount sets yet, so still hoping to come up with an awesome way to store them. I have allowed extra shelving in the closet to house them as that collection grows. I had my dad bend pieces of aluminum ot make low profile storage on the wall of the closet for all my larg background stamps so now i can always see exactly what i have instead of having to remember or dig for them.
Larger punches are hanging on the wall on rails and smaller punches or other style punches are in the plastic rolling bins with easy access from my main work surface.
My cricut and other large tools as well as computer are on a countertop on cabinets with pull out drawers for easy access. I have all my embellishments stored in one shelving are and all my other tools as well as simply scrapping kits on another shelving area. All are easy access from my main work surface which is an old drafting table and I have found that I tend to stand more when working now because of the height (although that is a bit tougher at 30+ weeks pregnant) so walking to get what I need isn't that big. I wanted my stamps and paper to be protected from sunlight and the kids so they are housed in the closets. There is a play area at one end of the room and currently I have no issues with my 2.5 year old getting into my supplies that are visible on external shelving.
If you have any other questions let me know! I'd be happy to answer any questions! And remember, all of the shelving and most of the rails and such were installed by me while I was pregnant, so if you can use a level, power drill and stud finder, you can do it to! My husband did most of the carpentry work because we started with bare studded walls, he built all the closets, bathroom, etc.
Thank you ladies! I had an open house this past weekend and the ladies just loved it. Had 3 of them schedule a crop in a few weeks. I'd love to host ladies from SCS sometime too!
Thanks for sharing. I have the same problem with my stamp sets. I kept on thinking how I can just look at each one and pick instead of going through all of them before finding what I want. Congratulations! Mine is still wishful thinking at this point but once I decide on what to do then it'll be easy..........and you helped me advance into the next step.

I love it! I like how you have the kids play area up there too. It's a lovely space.
I just put my sets in a large pine armoire that I can lay out my sets in. Most are single stacked, some are double stacked. I can SEE everything now! I guess my valentine, birthday and Christmas are about four high...but I know they are all one theme.
Before I had this I had a small three shelf bookcase and my sets were stacked 10 high or more and hard to find.

I was really happy when I finally got the room done that I still have some room to grow and as I use up scrapping kits and stuff, it will make more room too.
Still struggling with decorating ideas and color scheme.
GREAT SPACE!!! Question for you. What type of clips do you use to hang your scraps and rub on on the bygel rods? I've been thinking of pants hangers and wanting to get a clip it up, but after seeing how you did this, I think I can save a lot of money by just getting the clips. I was curious how they "hook" to the rod.
i think you can use drapery hooks. also the clip it up system has clips-they cost alot more.
i can
t remember if IKEA sells the clips. maybe do a search online w/ their catalog

Plus, if you have an Ikea near by, go to the AS IS section. I bought a bag of those clips, 100+ for $3.00
No IKEA, no store other than Js or Ms and neither carry that, but Overstock had some--yes, I probably paid more than I should, but I didn't order the tiered organizer! I keep thinking about it, but so far I think I can go with the clips and the rods. I have more wall space than counter space. Thanks for the help!
The clip it up clips don't work on the bygel rails. The diameter of the rail is too large. The clips I used for the scraps and the rubons I got online more than a year ago and can't remember where I got them, but they are much heavier hooks than the ones on the clip it up clips too. I need some more, so I'm kicking myself in the butt for not remembering! The idea to check drapery clips is probably the best. For the 6x6 printed papers, i used loose leaf rings from an office supply store since i was out of the others. They come in different sizes and just snap around the rod, so you have to have a hole in whatever you are trying to hang.
