It's time for a new Mix-Ability challenge!! I'm so excited! We all worked hard last month with the Hope You Can Cling To event. Thank you all for participating! If you didn't get a chance to, you can still make cards and mail them to MD Anderson.
Now. I thought we might take a little field trip! I follow so many wonderful artists, and I learn something from each one of them - a technique, a color palette, a persevering spirit. This week, I want you to check out France Papillon's work. She was injured a few years ago, and eventually turned to art journaling during her recovery. She is just amazing.
Your choice: pick a technique, a color palette, a recurring pattern or theme that you notice. Anything you like, and you can put your own twist to it, too.
Make a card, a canvas, an ATC, a journal page - anything you like. I want you to just get out of the "house" for a bit and daydream. Be inspired. Relax and just make something that pleases you. If there's something in particular that inspired you, feel free to share what you've gleaned.
Remember, for your project to truly qualify as mixed media, you need to use at least 2 different types of art media. You can click HERE for a list of supplies you could choose from. We want you to learn and enjoy!
Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX93) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh! Go forth and create!
{I am not (nor is SCS) endorsing her products and have not been offered anything for introducing her to you. I simply want to share her inspiration.}

Thanks for being an enabler...as if my subscription list on youtube for mixed media artists wasn't big enough. Now I had to go ahead an add another artist. I am looking forward to watching a few more videos before hopefully playing today.
Her process fascinates me. I do not work as quickly as she does. It takes me hours as I agonize over every step, trying to find the perfect embellishment, or attain just the right shade of a color. I need to be more free and less scholarly.

Wow! I watched a couple of videos and am very inspired. Now off to try to fulfill everyone else's plans for my day off and still leave myself some time to play later.

There is no France Paillon gallery - you need to visit either her YouTube entries, or her blog for inspiration. She's totally worth exploring! The pictures you see in the introductory thread are samples our Mix-Abilities ladies have created having been inspired by the work of France.

I was inspired by the colors I saw on some of the works of art - yellows and rusts and turquoise. I used Distress Paints, Distress Stain Sprays, and Archival Ink for my mediums.
Oh my goodness this was tons of fun. I am really looking forward to the next mixed media challenge. Here is my card and my little guy helped shape the flowers...
I am trying to let loose and experimented with my little Gelli-plate to make lots of mess and have quite a number of pieces that will no doubt make it onto future works, but here is what I used today:
