Well, surprise, surprise, it's Lydia....hahaha. I do NOT have a Container Store near me. And it's a sore subject....lol. We don't have them in Canada.
Okay, this is so not helpful but... I know for a fact you can buy it in Canada because I saw it on the counter of a jewellery store one day. I remember seeing it and thinking (please don't judge me! lol) 'I should swipe that so I have some on hand when I'm finally able to order a MISTI'. Ridiculous, right? I would never steal anything from a store, but for some reason that thought popped into my brain!!! I mean really, if I was going to steal from a jewellery store, I'm sure I could do better than a bottle of cleaner, right?! kidding!
Of course I don't even remember what jewellery store it was so I can't even ask! I see you're in BC, are you in the Lower Mainland? It looks like there are a few specialized shops that carry it.
I just got a Misti from Blitsy, so didn't know a special cleaner was needed. I googled acrylic cleaner, Many brands came up. I went to Amazon for the Novus brand. It's fairly cheap and comes with Prime shipping.....Guess I need to add this to my Amazon wish list.
I was wondering, why not just order the MISTI products? Seems like an easier solution.
Because shipping to Canada is excessively expensive. So, easier perhaps but more financially viable to get it locally if possible. When I ordered my MISTI I had it shipped to Sumas, Washington and popped across the border to pick it up since it's only 10 minutes away for me. Also, our dollar has gone down the flusher over the past year, from around 85 cents to just hovering above 70 cents to the dollar. Just another reason it makes more sense economically to buy locally.
Hubby bought me cleaner with mine thankfully - I am now wondering where in the UK I might get some more when this is all gone - MISTI getting used all the time!

I have seen the Novus cleaner in several stores, although I have it, Like UnderstandBlue, I use the damp absorber. Just haven't needed the Novus cleaner.
I was using my Versafine Black Onyx ink pad with my Misti and it has left a terrible stain. I did clean the ink off right away, but as I was wiping the ink away, it was sort of smudging on the lid. Now the lid is stained with a blackish stain. I tried using an ink cleaner and the Novus cleaner to no avail. Is there something else that I can do? Has any one had this happen with their inks? I must admit, my Versafine ink pad is old as I got it when they first came out years ago, so maybe the ink formulation has changed? Thanks for any help!

YES! Run out and get yourself some Novus 2. This is the fine scratch remover product (you can use it on eyeglasses, etc) and it will make your MISTI look like brand new! I usually remove stains with Novus 2 and then just do a light spray of Novus 1 for mild cleaning afterwords.
The two of them together are a complete miracle.
See if your Home depot has it - if not, or Ace Hardware - you can get it from My Sweet Petunia or Amazon.
I just ordered mine from Amazon. They carry both Novus 1 and 2. It was alos cheaper than the other stores. I am all for suporting the lone scrapbook store we have but they forgot to put it in my bag after I paid and they are 30 miles away. I got a refund and did the Amazon thing.
The girls at One Crazy Stamper are great to deal with and their service is 'top notch'. I highly recommend them Jo.
So nice to post this. While it's not always feasible, I try to choose shopping small business over big box stores. The good ones support us hugely, and need our support in turn.
I am just about to order a full size MISTI and was concerned about the cleaners. With your helpful responses in this thread I am going to get both the cleaners suggested. I am normally neat but ink errors occur no matter how careful you are so this has been really great to see your expertise. Thank you all.
Hand sanitizer and a cotton ball work wonders on cleaning my acrylic blocks. I have also used hand sanitizer to remove ink from plastics, glass, polyurethane surfaces, etc. I don't own a MISTI, but if I did, I wouldn't be afraid to try hand sanitizer to clean it.
Someone please explain the purpose of the cleaner. I mean, beyond cleaning.
So here's the thing. I bought one of the first Misties, before they came in various sizes. That one had the vinyl grid, & I bought the cleaner, magnets, etc. When they came out with the mini, I gave my first Misti to my sister.
Now that I have the mini, the vinyl is replaced with etched glass (think it's glass).
So, which one is the cleaner for? Is it just the vinyl grid or for both the vinyl and the etched?
