Wow! 2011!
It's such a good feeling to arrive at something new. New Year, new promises, new fortune, new opportunity, new resolutions, new friends, new challenges. There are so many New Years challenges especially in our scrappy world.
Did you sign up for a year long challenge? Are you documenting this new year a special way. Have you made resolutions? Is there a word or statement you've chosen?
How about sharing whatever fun new way you have chosen to start your scrappy New year!
My challenge for 52 week Thursday challenge is do something new. There is always so much new info in the scrapbook world. A challenge that introduces us to something new each week is a great way to keep it new. New trends, colors, techniques, products, ideas. 52 weeks of learning something new.
I have started my New Year by scrapping my word (or words) for 2011. I chose the word CREATE. This year I plan to create everyday. My new statement is create the life I want. I hope you join me each week as we share a fun new way to get scrappy.

Great challenge Tam!
I got my new CK yesterday and I'm trying to look at each issue this year and try something new that I see or copy an embellishment or page the grabs my eye. (I want to use those subscriptions better.) Yesterday I saw a cool technique using brads and string. Not sure I'll get to it this week, but I'd like to try it

Oh, Tam, that's GORGEOUS! And such a great challenge, too. I just got a new CK Tips & Tricks issue and there's so many things in there that are new to me that I want to try, so this challenge is a great kick in the pants to do that! Thanks!

Which means that I have challenged myself to start at the beginning of the Scrapping Challenges here on SCS and my goal is to work my way through the challenges by the end of the year.
Here is my first challenge for myself that I will be working on today...
I will be combining SBSC01 & SBVC01.
What a great idea! I think this would really help me get going again too.

Tam has volunteered to lead us through our 2011 Thursday Challenges! She has some fun ideas and I'm looking forward to inspiration
I do want to scrap my focus "word" for the year so this is just the motivation I need to get that done.
I hope you will all play along with us and the Thursday Challenge this year!
Please make our new hostess feel welcome!
Yay, yay, yay!!! I can't think of a better hostess!! Tam always has such fun, interesting and creative pages. This is a great idea and I plan to play along as much as I can! Welcome, Tam!!!
We did. DH finally decided LAST MINUTE...he drives me NUTS! I loved the Smokie Mountains. The town was nice but TOO CROWDED...and I grew up in Philadelphia, so I know crowded :-) I would never again go during Christmas week but I'd love to go in the Spring or Fall. We found out afterward that DD1s friend has a Time Share there; we also have a pop-up camper so we most likely will go again in a couple of years.
My traveling bug has bit (it's been gone for a very long time) and I'm looking into a Florida trip for Spring Break, a cruise possibly in August, and NYC for next Thanksgiving. However, I'm thinking I might need to get a job to pay for it all ;-)
Mary Pat, we love the Smokie Mountains too. We're thinking of buying a cabin there for our "twilight years" We don't go into Gatlinburg that much b/c it is so crowded. We stay in Pigeon Forge. It's a lot less crowded, more family friendly and it only takes about 20 minutes to get to Gatlinburg from there (it's the neighboring town). Our next trip we want to camp also. It is so beautiful there, we're excited about camping by Little Pigeon River.

I finished a couple of pages and got them posted today. Yay! I'm so glad I put off packing up my scrapbooking supplies until last, because our move keeps getting postponed and I would be really bummed to have to tear open my boxes in order to get my scrapbooking fix. Anyway, here are my pages.
I also uploaded a couple of other pages to my gallery, ones that I completed on New Year's Eve. Feel free to check them out and let me know what you think.
Thanks for taking over the Thursday Challenge, Tam. I know Lela has lots on her plate, so you're probably her best friend right now - LOL! Here's what I'm doing this year. I don't think this is new to the scrapping world, but it's new for me. I posted a 52 Week Challenge on my blog, and I am committing to completing and posting a layout on my blog every week this year. It should be easy for me to get this done, except that life sometimes gets busy and I need the accountability. Anyone is welcome to play along. Here's the link: 52 Week Challenge. I already have the link up for the first week, so you would need to post your layout by Friday at midnight to play along this week. Now you need to make a mental note to check with me in July to see how I'm keeping up!
..... Thanks for all the WELCOME BACKS!!! It feels good to be back.... !
But I am still having a hard time finding my scrapping mojo, so I decided this year I was going to...
"START with the END in MIND!

ANYONE WANT TO JOIN ME?????

That sounds so neat! I think I will join you on this one. I am going to dedicate 2 hours on Sunday to scrapping. I am giving myself "me" time this year.
I wasn't sure where to find the newly-started Creative Crew Challenges, so I asked. If you're interested, here's the answer (click on link & go to post #18.)

Finally got one done. I'm happy with my January goals so far. I finished the baby quilt, I made a post in my blog and now 1/4 layouts done. And it hasn't even been a full week yet. I'll post a better pic of the layout and quilt when I get a nice day outside to take it with. They are calling for snow all weekend (though I think just flurries).

My goal for January is to complete 14 double page layouts. It shouldn't be to hard becuase 1/2 of them (possibly) more will be pages that I have received in swaps and I'm doing a calendar style book for each kiddo this year.....
Michele - that is the million dollar question, not sure but it let me, just did it on firefox I think, but sometimes I use Google, it's luck, sometimes I can edit, sometimes I can't , I just don't know

It is great to see so many pages added since late yesterday. We are a scrapin bunch in 2011.
Here are a couple more pages that I obsessed over way to long yesterday. I just need to scrap and get it done! I am still not sure about the frame around that one picture, but it looked so bare when I took it off........so I just glued it down.
I have a question about two page lOS. Do you like to post both pages a one post or two? Do you like looking at one page at a time of viewing both together? Ok, that was two questions.
Off to shop with my mother and sister, but I am really scraping in my brain.
For me, I like to photo dlb pgs as one photo if they rely on one another to complete the picture. Otherwise, just 2 single photos. Does that make sense?

Afternoon all... Feeling very blessed and humble today. I helped with a funeral today at our church. It was very nice but it was one of those that you wish you never had to do. It was for a nine year old little boy who passed away. The family is very strong and they are holding up very well.
I have been thinking a lot about the new year and where I really want to be a year from now... I have set some new goals and marked out some paths that I want to go down. I am excited for the new year and I have decided that maybe I want the find or spend some extra time on ME this year!
So I have decided that my major scrapping this here might be a book about me for my boys and my future grandchildren.

Oh Anavon - prayers for that family...
nothing like a cold dose of reality to realign some things. My dh and I are emailing back and forth today about the calendar for the next few weeks and the busy-ness that has crept in (he had no clue about everything that's on the docket these next few weekends. He now knows why my head is spinning and distracted all the time.)... I keep thinking that this is not how it is supposed to be....Going to have to pursue some peace in the midst of all this STORM or get out of the storm.

well not a scrapbooking goal, but I am excited because it's for me, hubby let me buy a bodybugg this morning, the newer version is called the bodymedia, like what they wear on Biggest Loser. Couldn't pass up the deal at Costco. So excited to get this, he and I have been working so hard the past few months, it's beginning to show, but I want to know how badly I sabotage myself finishing the girls foods, snacking in between etc etc etc

That is a really great idea for a scrapbook. So sorry for the events that get our minds spinning that way... :(

We stayed in Seirville (sp?) so we drove through Pigeon Forge...we may try again in a couple of years. I have a list of things I'd like to do over the next few years...now to afford them! ;-)

Ooops, I wanted to do this but I wasn't home to do or upload a page. We spent the last couple days of break at Universal...so creating memories instead of scrapping them; girls go back to school on Monday. I hope I can still participate...I'll go swing by your website...

My thoughts are with the family and everyone who knew the boy. That's got to be one of the hardest things I can imagine going through for parents, family, and young friends.

I miss you guys! This whole move and starting a new practice (while pregnant) has been tougher than I ever imagined. My nieces are coming over tomorrow to have scrappy time. I'm going to set my goal for 2 a month for now- I came NO WHERE near my 4 per month in 2010, but I truly believe what I DID get done was in a big way because of you wonderful ladies.
33 weeks today and due in 7 weeks! I think my life is busy now, huh? LOL.

Mary Pat, you can still participate since it's a yearly challenge. Just check my blog every week for the link and get as many layouts done as you can!
I finished another page last night, which brings it to three for the month. Wow, that's almost more than I scrapped the whole month of December - LOL!
