It's Monday morning again. I've been awake since 03:15, so I may as well post the challenge. This week, I brought out a Stampers' Sampler magazine from August 2012. The cover photo seemed to speak to me, so I am using it for an inspiration. Actually, the sentiment is my challenge for this week. So please be challenged by the word 'Soar'.

I don't know about you, but I am having trouble finishing cards, especially now that I can be outside most of the time. So my challenge this week is to finish a card that you have already started in the past (no, not the one you started yesterday!)

Hi Everyone, finally back from our travels, weve had a lovely time in England and Poland but now I really have to get stuck in to my Christmas cards, Im so behind this year.
I have had five birthday cards for June but have been using some from my stash so I can replace them with new ones, hopefully.
I don't know about you, but I am having trouble finishing cards, especially now that I can be outside most of the time. So my challenge this week is to finish a card that you have already started in the past (no, not the one you started yesterday!)
This is a great challenge! I have a small box containing projects like this
Sharon, I'm so sorry about your mom! I hope this is something she can recover from? God bless you and keep you strong.
Mom was just diagnosed with ALS. It has been going on for months, but no one could say what it was.. She has lost her ability for speech and swallowing
Sat. I took her to ER. On Tuesday they finally put a feeding tube in Last night they transferred her to a rehab which is only a mile from my house instead of 26 mile round trip to hospital. I had spent several 12 hour days there. Now I can run over about three times a day. Her poor body is not acclimating well to the formula they are feeding her. I feel so bad for her. She is so sick But she still has her mind and her FAITH.
Anyway I did get in my craft room tonight! The therapy I needed.
Here is a card I made for our QFTD.

Now, where did I put those cards? I need to get busy and clean my space so I can make cards. I've been so busy lately. By the time I get home from work and have supper (which my wonderful DH has ready for me) I'm tired. In fact, I keep dozing off while I'm trying to do some catch up on the threads. I can't believe the 4th of July is next week already. Summer is flying by too quickly.
I got somewhat of a promotion. I guess my new title is Circulation Librarian, but I'm not sure. Anyhow, I am now working full time and I have my own office space. I have the only office in the basement which is where all the children's books are. I'm enjoying listening to parents read to their kids. My office is also the coolest part of the building. I'm the only one who can stand it. I just finished my first week at my new job. I forgot what it was like to work an 8-hour day. Although it means a lot less stamping time, I'll also be able to sock some money away for future trips to see the girls.
I haven't caught up here in a while. Hugs! My husband found out he had type 2 right after Mother's Day last year. He never did see a dietician. We've just been trudging along on our own. His numbers are looking good though. He does take medication and he'd like to get where it is controlled just by diet. It was hard at first; it felt like food was out to get us. Things are getting better now. Kind bars have a couple of flavors that are just 4 or 5 grams of sugar. Someone recommended the South Beach Diet cookbooks to us and we've found some recipes we like in them. Best wishes with it!
Now to catch up on the rest of the posts I've missed.
I'm getting my numbers under control again. Our trip earlier this month was quite a challenge. I looked at some of the recipes in the South Beach Diet cookbooks and was shocked to see how much sodium is in them. We have to watch that, too.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, Sharon. ALS is bad stuff. You all have my prayers. (((((HUGS))))
Today is Canada Day! We are 146 years old as a nation. Our flag is white with red borders and a red maple leaf. So, the challenge this week will be to make a red and white card!

Sharon, Im so sorry to hear about your Mum, make sure you take care of yourself too.
Debbie, congrats on the promotion, and your own little office space too.
We are getting our healthy diet back on track after our visitors and trips, too many meals out but Steve enjoyed his Polish Sausages and Blood Sausages, he doesn't get to eat them since his op so it was a big treat for him, now fish and salad!!
Just updated my totals and Im heading the right way but far too slowly.
This week we have a technique challenge. I went into the tutorial section here at SCS and found a technique I had never tried.........bargello. It was fun and I love the results! I have a sample in my gallery, but I am under a time constraint this morning, so will link it later.

Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes! Just getting caught up now after a morning at DVBS.
Sharon, I received your card today......right on the day. Thanks so much. It's beautiful! I received one from Sabrina (cook22) from Ireland. She sent it on July 10 and I received it yesterday. Yours took two days longer to get here from the U.S. The postal services sure are funny!

It's very interesting ..........the information a person can find on Wikipedia! For example July 22 Ratcatcher's Day.
Ratcatcher's Day, Rat-catcher's Day or Rat Catcher's Day is celebrated on 26 June or 22 July, commemorating the myth of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The town of Hamelin in Germany uses the June date.[1] The confusion of dates is because the Brothers Grimm cite 26 June 1284 as the date the Pied Piper led the children out of the town, while the poem by Robert Browning gives it as 22 July 1376. It is a holiday remembering rat-catchers, similar to Secretary's Day.[2][3]
Our challenge this week will be to make a card featuring a rodent ..........rat, mouse, squirrel, beaver, chipmunk, etc. Lots to choose from!

We've actually seen that re enacted as we lived near hameln when steve was a soldier and we lived in Detmold.
You could go any Sunday in the summer, the children would play the part of the rats and the piper would lead them out of town, always somewhere to take our visitors for a morning out.
How apropos! We came back from camping this weekend to discover that something had eaten the most ripe tomato in our greenhouse. Beware critters, hubby will be on a rampage!
Oh Toni, your plants are supposed to be safe inside a greenhouse!
My veggie garden is victim to rabbits and birds (strawberries) I am using a spray that is environmentally safe, but smells like a manure pile! Obviously, I only use it on the foliage, not on the produce. Next year, when the garden is up to it's full size, I will fence it off.

Time for another challenge. I have been busy cleaning in preparation for my son's visit. There will be six people coming, so I have had to clean out the extra bedrooms where I, being a packrat, am storing stuff. I heard on the radio this week that hoarding is a form of mental illness
Even though it has turned cooler........we are still in the midst of summer, so this week, I'll make it an easy challenge. Make a card that celebrates summer!

As with all mental illness, there will be a spectrum! This hoarding behavior that you speak of and that many of us engage in only reaches disorder level when it interferes with your ability to function. Do you think I have reached disorder level when I trip over my paper pads?
I have some ideas about how to capture summer with my stamps
Ive just updated my July totals and I am out of the red, just but Im going to right way.
I have so many projects on the go that my place is a mess, luckily my room only has a bed settee for emergencies, Ive had to put each project in a plastic folder to keep them separate as I had so many bits floating round. I did actually make one Christmas card yesterday!
My son is visiting with kids and girlfriend........all in all, 6 people! Needless to say, after an impromptu party last evening that went late, and, in the busy time of getting ready for a family get together this morning, I did not get a challenge posted. I am using the same idea for the photo challenge this week. The two oldest grandsons, age 18 and 15 are both tall and skinny. That gave me an idea for the challenges this week. Lets try a tall and skinny card .....one that will fit into a business envelope.

Happy belated birthday, Ina! Time sure does fly by fast. I updated my totals and I'm in the black. Not because of cardmaking, unfortunately, but cleaning and exercising. I'm still trying to put my room back in order after tossing everything in totes. I didn't realize how much stuff I had stored on the table I took out to make room for the bed. It sure has been a challenge. Whenever I think I have a home for something, I need to move it because it's the only place something else will fit. I do have to admit, I'm not working on it every day, but putting in a lot of time on Saturdays. I have a box of ribbons I purchased from a floral shop that went out of business a couple years ago. I really need to make it more compact, so I think I just now came up with the idea of using toilet paper rolls to make them more compact and I can get rid of the big box. I'll have to let you know how that works. Better give that a try while it's still fresh in my mind. Hopefully, soon I'll be able to take part in the challenges again.
I also need to update and am in similar circumstances. I am in the black because of exercising. I should give myself points for cleaning too, as I do it so infrequently! I had to clean up for my son's visit and everything went into plastic bags, so my little black book (for tracking my expenses and cards made) is in one of those bags and not accessible while they are visiting. They will leave at the end of the week and I am very determined to get everything organized after they leave. But in the meantime, I am enjoying them! My son's girlfriend is taking me out for breakfast this morning.
